One type of slingshot ammo is made of plastic instead of steel. Safer than steel projectiles, plastic, round-ball ammunition is ideal for backyard or indoor target practice. Their 10mm diameter is easier to grip than smaller-diameter
projectiles when loaded into the pouch. Plus, their bright orange coloring makes them easy to spot, collect and reuse.
Other slingshot ammunition actually shatters on impact, which is known as frangible ammo. The reason for this ammo is to reduce the chances that a ball will ricochet off of a hard target. This ammo is made of a special alloy blend that
is lead-free and leaves a wisp of powder when it hits the target, making it easy to see from a distance. The disadvantage is that you can't reuse your ammo.
Another option is clay, but while they are inexpensive, they are inconsistent in size and often not perfectly round, so they are not as accurate as other sling shot ammo types. Finally, for round sling shot ammo, you can choose white
glass, which is easy to see when you're target shooting.
You can also go with arrows as your sling shot ammo of choice. Usually in multi-packs, arrows are great for small game hunting. Arrows are usually 31 inches long and made of carbon fiber with a 100 grain tip. Some arrows can be used for
bowfishing, but can be used only with specific types of slingshots.
