Are you taking full advantage of this website?

by B.B. Pelletier

While browsing through the site yesterday, I noticed some features that I’ve never taken the time to fully explore. I’ve used them once or twice; but, beyond what was needed at the moment, I didn’t pay further attention to them. Today, I’m going to change that.

This site is loaded with owner’s manuals!
Many of the guns from the larger manufacturers have good owner’s manuals, and Pyramyd AIR has taken the time to scan them for you and link them to the models they represent. Let’s take a look.

Marksman 1010
For some reason, I have always been fascinated by the Marksman 1010 pistol. It’s a low-powered smoothbore BB gun and not the type I’m normally interested in, but I own one and I’m thinking of starting a collection of the different types. They’ve been around since 1955 (from the Blue Book of Airguns, Fifth edition). Today, I noticed in the “Model Assistant” window to the left of the gun that there is an owner’s manual for this gun. So, I went there.

Not only is there an owner’s manual for the Marksman 1010 – Pyramyd has gone to the trouble of animating parts of it! Look at some of the pictures under the “Operating” and “Loading” headlines! Seeing that got me wondering what else they might have done.

Crosman 1008B
Next, I went to the Crosman 1008B and took a look at the manual for it. The section on operating the pistol shows detailed parts and how they operate. I can understand this gun from the manual, without ever holding the actual pistol in my hand!

Sumatra 2500
Many buyers balk at spending a lot of money on an airgun they haven’t seen, so Pyramyd gives you BOTH the owner’s manual and an article about the Eun Jin Sumatra 2500! This owner’s manual has photos that show certain operations better than a line drawing. And, the article shows you the accuracy the tester got at 50 yards. That’s the sort of information we need to help us make decisions.

Or, just try the manuals link
Before everyone jumps on me for not mentioning this, there is a link at the bottom of many pages to the “Manuals” page, where all online manuals are listed. The names of each are direct links to the manuals. So, you can go there if you just want to see everything they have available.

Not every gun has a manual, so there are some guns that don’t have manuals on this site. However, most of the top Beeman rifles are made by Weihrauch, so look at those manuals instead. Compared to other websites, this site has a lot more of what we need and what we’re looking for!

  1. I have only one question for you regarding your interest in a Marksman 1010……Why? The first time I fired a Marksman 1010, the BB’s left the gun so slowly, I felt I could probably run after them and catch them in mid-air, except that the accuracy was so poor, I could never guess which way they would fly out of the barrel. The one quality I can attributer is is toughness, due to the cast iron construction. And since they are now constructed of plastic, their even toughness is in question.

    Regards,

    Fred

  2. Fred,

I think you hit the nail on the head. I like the 1010 because I’ve had the exact same experience as you. I can’t for the life of me understand how such a weak sister air pistol could survive and succeed for half a century.

I guess I would like an Edsel, too.

I bought the 1010 for each of my daughters a few years back to teach them about gun safety. recently i dug one out to scare a varmint out of the yd. but it did not work properly so i took it apart. a spring fell out near the loading end and i cannot figure out how it goes back. have been searching for a schematic any suggestions?

  4. hi i have just bought a marksman 1010 and a bb got jammed under the loading mechinism and the trigger and the spring fell out at the back, can you help me with some diagrams on how to assemble the gun agian.
    sicerly, David

  5. i need help i took apart a 1010 bb gun because it wasent working right and i cant put the 2 springs in right and pictures i can look at to find where they go?

  6. Hi, I have a question.I was recently given a bb gun from a friend of mine, on the condition, that if i could fix it i could keep it.now there is only one problem with it.I just can’t figure out how to fix it.
The model itself, is a wingun wsgc-101 (FP 060358069).now, when you pull it back to cock it, the hammer doesn’t come down, because internally, the piece connected to the spring that pulls back, and locks in place, until fired, won’t pull back when you cock it.otherwise it’s in fine shape. If you know how to fix this, please e-mail me or message me right away.my e-mail is tyn_god@yahoo.com
    thank you for your time.

  7. Asahoshi,

Okay, what you have isn’t a BB gun. It’s called an airsoft gun. I know they call those 6mm plastic balls BBs, but that’s a misnomer the Asians have caused. As a result, you are looking in the wrong place for help.

You need to get on the airsoft forums and ask your question. I see that you have already asked on one forum, but you need to ask on others.

Your gun probably needs to be disassembled, and many airsoft guns can be taken apart, but some are difficult to work on.

On this blog, when we use the term “BB gun,” we mean a gun that shoots 4.3mm steel BBs. Our type of BB guns are about 100 years older than airsoft guns.

  8. ah, my bad.I wasn’t sure, I typically thought they were roughly the same.Is there a manufacturer, or someone I could get into contact with about it?Because I got the damn thing apart, but like i said, it just won’t catch, which sucks.I’d like to fix it, and I have googled the type of gun it is over and over.(that’s actually how I found this site.)and I keep drawing blanks.Any advice?

  9. asahoshi,
