Welcome to Pyramyd Air’s new blog!

by B.B. Pelletier

Welcome to Airgun Academy. The idea for this was first proposed to Pyramyd AIR in 2006. We’ve been working the details and format ever since, and we’re thrilled this site is now live. I hope you have a chance to see the new tutorial videos. There are only a few right now, but many more are planned. The podcast is also now located here, but we won’t be able to provide a new one til later this month.

Only some of the blog postings and podcasts have been transferred from the old site. The 2010 podcasts and some of the more popular blog entries have been moved here and are located on the right side of the page. The historical archive is also on the right side, but those links will take you back to the old blog, where you can still read all the blog entries and comments through April 30. Unfortunately, the blog comments did not transfer, but I felt they were just as important as the blogs. It wasn’t Pyramyd Air’s choice. That’s how the transfer and software worked out.

The choice to move everything here was actually made for us. Blogger was discontinuing the way our blog was posted (via ftp). Therefore, we either had to move the blog and podcast to our own site or move it to another Blogger site. We thought it was in our best interests if we completely separated from Blogger, because there’s no telling if they might discontinue something in the future and make us move again.

Lastly, the links to any multi-part blog series haven’t been reworked. For instance, when you click on part 2 for a 5-part blog, it’ll take you back to the old blog site to read part 2. We’ll be updating all those links, but it’s a very time-consuming, labor-intensive project and will take many months to complete.

    • Slinging Lead,

No tuition, no uniforms, no books…although a lot of testing has gone into this site, yet I see we overlooked an important tool. Right now, there’s no way to preview comments before submitting them. I’ll see if I can get that added.

Hope you enjoy the new site. Before you know it, you’ll be used to it.

  1. Edith,

That means we really have to THINK before posting! Might be a good thing. Another thing: Can we delete comments once posted?

Glad Tom seems to have rounded the corner to home stretch.

  2. Hi Edith,

I AM logged in, but still don’t see how. Moreover, since comment-specific replies are indented underneath the comment, would deleting it also delete the subsequent string? The Help pages are no help.

    • AlanL,

You’re right! I thought for sure you could edit or delete your own comments. I must have seen that capability when signed in as admin. I’ll add that to my list of requests for future features. Til then, people will have to let me know they want something deleted or edited. They can do that by posting another comment.

  3. Anyone explain to me why I received within an e-mail to blacklist a URL to register for WordPress?

Edith, looking for our daily update on the “BB”.

  4. If you’re reading this blog and want to quickly get to the current blog, just scroll all the way to the top. Look to the right of the headline for this blog (just a little above it, actually), and you’ll see some words that say “Using nitrogen in PCPs.” Click on that link and you’ll be taken to the next day’s blog…which, today, is the current one. As long as there are no links in that place next to the headline, then it means you’re at the latest blog posting.

  5. Larger pics look nice.

    Hope Tom is feeling better.

  6. With 4 DAQ big bores,I am now faced with needing 3500 psi….local dive shops get my alu. 88cf. tank to 3200 max,and that is only if I beg!Can someone suggest where to look for 4500psi BEFORE I invest in a carbon fiber tank??Hand pumping would be difficult with my back issues, even just to top off:(

  7. I like the new format. I hope you don’t have to submit to word verification. I noticed you have some kind of spam protection. That’s good.

    • Heaven,

I’m not experiencing any slow down. Anyone else experiencing slow refresh times? How about having to refresh it several times to get it to display properly?

Just want to be sure you know that you’re not on the current blog. This blog is 2 days old. The current blog is always posted here.

      • Edith,

Not me, but I have a pretty fast connection and I also installed Google Gears when we switched blogs. Gears is supposed to speed up browsing by caching a lot of the pictures.

By the way, I love being able to click on the message header in Comments RSS and be taken directly to that post! An especially useful feature when switching articles, like with this one.

  8. well seams i left my Industry B-3 up date on an older post oops sorry
    Well here’s the skinny
we got it tore down my friend Nick (its his rifle) took fine sand paper to the chamber a few gouges on the inside as well as the piston
I took the spring from my crosman (only an inch off the end was broke) and cut it to size crosman springs are longer than the b-3’s
the leather is a little chewed up but not bad Thanks to Tom I have the know -how
    on making new leather seals
there’s a few tricks I will have to do
one involving two 3/8 inch faucet washers and one 1/2 inch faucet washer. Remove the retaining screw and
original expansion washer from the seal. Remove the retaining screw from the expansion washer and then
install the 1/2 inch faucet washer followed by the two 3/8 inch faucet washers. Install the new assembly into
the seal, apply blue thread-lock to the retaining screw threads, and install assembly onto the piston. The
tighter you turn the screw, the larger the mouth of the seal becomes. Adjust is so that there is a light amount
of drag when the piston is moved within the cylinder.
Well one thing I would like to know
The Rear Sights are a little Floppy
Is it possible to replace those with a True Glow Rear Sight?
well we shall keep you posted
