Things I liked:I have two R1s, a .177 I purcheased in 1983 and a .22 I purchased 10 years later. Both triggers are exceptional and both group far better that I can shoot. Fit and finish are excellent. The .177 has a Beeman Blue Ring (aka Hako) 2-7 scope that I like a lot. Things I would have changed:Lose the iron sights at the factory and include a trigger shoe. My .22 has a BSA 2-7 scope that may be going away. The gun deserves better. What others should know:The Beeman R1 book is a very good read.
Both guns seem to like H&N Match.
I use the "artillery hold" exclusively.
