6 of 6 Norica Model 56 Basic Reviews
Great youth gun. My 10 yo granddaughter can use. High quality, great sights, can accept a scope. Light weight. Incredible value...worth 4 times as much.
What a cool gun. I worked on it that weekend striped it, thoroughly cleaned and re-lubed it. I started shooting it with the pellets it came with and was having so much fun I forgot that it needed sighting in. It took about 10 pellets and it was shooting less than 1 inch offhand! I took a little more time and shot 1/2" groups concistantly and was feeling smoother already. It shot most of the next 6 brands and types of pellets pretty well. Some of the groups were shooting the same hole down to less than 3/8"! I just couldn't stop. Pyramid Air is a great company to deal with. After receiving my first rifle I noticed the rear sight was broken called and had a replacement out that day! the next unit came in and was perfect. This is a very good quality gun and will last for many years to come. I can't wait for my next purchase.
Things I Would Have ChangedWhile the trigger is as good as it gets for 80 bucks it could use a little less creepage and weight. Not a complaint just a wish.
What Others Should KnowLike I said this is a cool gun for the price! After putting about 100 pellets through it I noticed it was much smoother cocking and shooting. The cocking force was a little more than my 10 yo grandson could muster but he got through it after a few times and was shooting his heart out.
This is a serious rifle. I was looking for the lightest spring air rifle that was not also a bb gun and this is was my choice. I am very impressed. Norica did not scrimp on the quality and the 'wow factor' is not the number of features or the power but the amount of quality work packed in under 100$. This rifle reminds me (and shoots like) my old rim fire .22 Remington. Great for someone starting out and simple pleasure for an adult. Norica packed the rifle with a tin of pellets (screw top lid). Has an automatic safety that is unobtrusive and easy to get used to.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would put on a steel rear sight. Not as elegant as the fiber optic jewel, but rugged for rough use.
What Others Should KnowThe fiber optic sights are elegant but fragile (well I dropped the rifle rather hard, thank you Pyramid for having the spare). I have no idea what they mean by 'vaporized beech'. I can say that the stock is gorgeous and stained a deep walnut. The spring makes a surprising amount of noise and it lets you know just what is doing the work. Came with open sights and a rail for attaching a scope. I did not find any adjustments on my trigger and although the trigger is a bit of a pull, I found it sure and not a distraction. The breech is relieved and pellets slip in easily without effort or damage to the pellet. The Model 56 is inexpensive, but it is not cheaply made.
I like the fit and finish of this gun. The sights are good and I was on paper in the first shot. A couple of clicks later I was in the bullseye. Very easy to shoot with very little recoil. Small size will fit my grandson's frame pretty well. Two stage trigger is very long but for young shooter's, it may be best to let them know their finger is on the trigger. Second stage is well defined but a little strong. The trigger is adjustable and I will play with it more as my granson becomes more familiar with the gun.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would add a buttplate to this gun. Maybe a couple of shims for even smaller shooters. I may do this on my own.
What Others Should KnowI bought this gun to teach my 4 year old grandson to shoot. I was looking for a small gun to fit his small frame. We plan to shoot off a bench so the weight is not a problem. The gun is light but my grandson is a half-pint. I am very pleased with the gun and for the price, you get a nice shooter.
nice handy little gun.have put thousands of rounds through one of these over the years.taken many many starling, sparrows and more than half a dozen rabbits with one.too light for rabbits but hey at ten metres i couldnt resist.
Things I Would Have Changedwould have loved more power but does what its designed to do.
What Others Should Knowwill punch a pointed pellet through old corrugated iron, most times.put a scope on it,very accurate rifle.i have no complaints of it.have owned it for over 14 years.came here looking for a new spring and saw the price.might get one for the kids.

This carbine size rifle is a high quality, well made and accurate gem. Its size, light weight, and easy cocking make it ideally suited for young shooters, though adults will find plenty of enjoyment here too. It has a nicely finished beech stock, fully adjustable fiber optic sights, and an automatic safety located in the trigger guard. There's an 11mm dovetail machined into the receiver tube. When choosing a scope, a compact size works best, since a full size scope can get in the way of cocking. It's not pellet fussy like more powerful springer guns, making it an inexpensive gun to shoot all day. An excellet shooter.
