I just bought a new MR 300 with the new holster with the flap on the front. What a lousy design. I figured the flap would have some way of being secured when the unit is in operation but there’s not. This is my 3rd unit , I don’t go into the woods without my thermacell, but this one is a waste. Why change the design the old holster worked perfectly fine.

I am a long-term ThermaCell fan. I have three of the portable units that I use in my backyard all summer. I definitely need to combine them to make a big enough space to cover my deck. Seems to work like a charm. In preparation for summer gardening, lawn mowing and cottage life, I bought portable unit and like other reviews which I had not read before purchasing, I realized I could not find a standalone clip to use with it. I broke down and purchased the holster and clip. I love the idea. I love the general features of the holster. And the ability to carry extra fuel and repellent pads. I used it for the first time today. I noticed I had not securely stowed the flap. And it had fallen over the front - multiple times. as I had this at my back to be out of the way, I had not noticed and had to keep checking. Made me concerned about the impact of the flap laying on the heated element. I was bug free, however not sure if the extra pads were compromised by being near the heat. I recommend either making the flap removable, or have an explicit mechanism to organize the flap to be out of the way but not blocking airflow when in use. Perhaps there is a recommended approach to stow the flap while in use. If there is, I could not find it when looking after the first use today. Rating a 3 as I like some of the features. And I needed the clip at a minimum (would have liked one I could have rotated) However would love more guidance shared about how to deal with the flap while in use. Any recommendations?

I love the Thermacell Portable Repellers. However, the design of the holster clip-on system is extremely poor. Here is why: 1. The clip is not firmly attached to the device and is prone to separation. I have lost several because of this. 2. The clip is not large enough or secure enough for heavy use. As a hunter, this is important. The clip-on system needs to be able to hook up to a 2" belt or molle webbing or both. It needs to be able to lock in place securely with 0% chance of becoming loose. 3. The front flap cover is useless. You don't want to use the device with it over the heating element. You also have no place to put it without interfering with the clip-on system. I don't understand why the original holster was scrapped. It worked much better than this one. The clip-on system was crappy with that one too. Thermacell is one RUGGED ATTACHMENT HOLSTER away from having a fantastic all around product line.

This new cover with clip is not like the old cover with two storage pouches and adjustable belt. No instructions about the belt clip, I put it on until it snapped in place and now I can’t get cover over the clip far enough . The whole thing is just not made for a guy climbing deer stands with this cover. Wish they made the old system like before, this sucks cause now I can’t get the clip off so my cover will fit so I can see the pilot light. Product yes! Covers heck no!

I had one for a while LOVED it. Bought another and its different. Only one pouch. And a stupid flap that is either going to catch fire from the heat or suffocate the intake if you fold it behind. Dont recomend the new one with one pouch and flap. Find the old style.very disappointed.

Got new holster for my thermocell. Not anything like my old one which was stolen, now I know why. Old holster was perfect, carried extra cartridges,pads and had straps to hang on tree stands, limbs or anything that was available. New holster is just not practically designed for hunters. Why not give people the option to purchase the holster that fits their needs. Do not buy this poorly designed holster.

This design is complete junk for a deer hunter that hunts out of a climber. The original dual bottle refill design was way better. Could easily attach to the stand, this new design must have been designed by a concrete princess. So wish that my old holster didn’t dry rot. This current design is complete junk. I enjoy the actual thermacell though.

I bought this a few days ago to with my Thermacell MR300. I used it on a camping trip right after I bought it. I love the belt clip, pocket for fuel canister and the pocket for the repellent pads but the rest of the holster doesn't make any sense to me. The large flap is just to cover the unit when NOT in use. You have no way to secure it once you are using the MR300. It gets in the way of the belt clip and covers the rear vents. This whole holster should be included with the purchase of the MR300. At the least the belt clip should be sold by itself.

Cut the flap off. Its dumb. I agree with the other reviews. Same feedback. The old design was far better and cant understand why theyd change the cover. This piece of poo should come free with the thermacell unit itself because of its extremely poor design. Clip doesnt rotate like the old one and has to be removed to change butane carts. Hate this but its better than nothing.

When using this holster attached to your waist belt the flap cannot be stored in a reasonable fashion to maintain airflow to the unit. If holster is installed per instructions you must remove the clip before removing holster to change fuel cartridge, this clip is not so easy to remove. Would not purchase holster again but the clip is great. With that being said all other Thermacell products I’ve used are great!

I garden, hunt, fish, camp and hike. To do any of the 4 things listed, I have to control the mosquitos. I would much prefer a Thermacell over any spray repellent. I read a negative review and had to respond. I wear my Thermacell on my belt and love it. It’s wonderful to not have to cover my body in bug spray when enjoying the activilisted above!!!! I definitely recommend Thermacell, in fact, all Thermacells and refills are currently sold ou here in Fairbanks!!!! Thank you again for an incredible product.

It is hard for me to believe this thing made it past testing. in every respect, it falls short of the old holster. Room for only one spare cartridge. A cover/flap whose only mission in life seems to be getting in the way. the belt clip attaches (not too securely) THROUGH a hole in the back of the holster so if you need to replace the cartridge, you need to detach the belt clip before you can get the unit out of the holster. Whoever designed this thing needs a good talking to. I went out and found one of the old 150 models to have on standby just so I wouldn't ever have to put up with one of these lame things. Thermacells work great: this thing needs to be pitched.

A very good product ... however instructions on 'how to ' put the Thermacell into the holster is hard but other than that a 5 star .... I would recommend this ...

Whoever designed this case obviously never had to use it. The cover flap hinders airflow to the unit and covers the clip that would attayit to your belt or pack. What a STUPID design.

I've used other Thermacell products in the past which prompted me to buy this portable version. I had hoped that it would already come prepared to be a hands-free unit, so I was disappointed to have to spend additional money to purchase a holster and clip. My expectation from a portable unit is to be able to attach it to my pack or my person while hiking, camping, boating, gardening, but that is not the case. The holster fits fine, but it makes it difficult to attach and use the clip as there is a strap that covers the clip area. Additionally, when using the clip to carry this item at my waist, clipped to my back pocket or to my pack, the air flow vent is often obstructed due to the placement of the clip. There is a flap that covers the front of the unit while not in use, but there is no decent way to "store" this flap while the Thermacell is in use, as folding it back would cover the air vent and not somehow tucking it aside will allow it to again cover the front. A great addition to the Thermacell design would be a hole/opening to attach a carabiner to instead of having to buy a separate holster and clip. I'm generally not opposed to spending extra money, but this seems like something that should be included as part of the PORTABLE unit and not purchased as a separate convenience item. As it is, my patio shield is just as portable, the only difference is that the portable device is designed to fit in my hand more comfortably.

I recently purchased this, but have not gotten to use it yet. I especially like the fact that it has the pocket to put the extra cylinder and pads.

I bought this because I needed a way to carry my Thermacell with me while doing yard work. It is an ingenious design!

I needed a new replacement holster with clip which is easier to attach to more objects than the old style webbing clip. Best investment I've made.

The holster makes my thermalcel much more portable love the pockets for extra fuel

I have had mine for at least 4 years and it is still working great
