This pistol has been the best thing to use.Things I would have changed:It is hard a first to load pellets into the gun.. With a little practice is will become easier. I use round balls most of the time in this gun and they shot great. What others should know:I did have the problem of leaking air after cocking. This happened about 15 times, it was always corrected by re_cocking the gun again. Sometime it would take 3 or 4 re_cockings to clear the problem. I now have about 500 shot thru the gun and have not had a problem with the gun leading air again in the last 400 shots. |  |

What others should know:The pellet loading is at the muzzle end and the loading orifice is sharp and can cut your finger, perfect for introducing lead into your bloodstream, if the sharp edges protrude they will damage the o-ring. The pistol shot is weak, the accuracy is poor and if you get close enough to hit the target reliably you are vulnerable to ricochet because at the low FPS rating any non-pointed pellet just bounces off. The placement of both sights makes it awkward to position your hand for an already difficult cocking procedure the result is the rear sight pokes into your palm or you disturb the red dot sight position. The red-dot sight blocks a lot of light and is hard to see through if its cloudy or dimly lit. The glass for the red-dot reticule is not the same shape as the red dot housing and gaps are visible in the top right and top left corners. |

- Things I liked:I really love this pistol. I do so much I purchased another one without the red dot on it. Even my missus enjoys this. It doesn't have the power of some more expensive pistols, however this was bought for target shooting and not varmint control. It can be tricky to load, that just slows me down to take a proper shot.
Things I would have changed:Make it easier to load. I took the advice from another review and use tweezers to load this. I find that the domed or pointed pellets are the easiest to load.Wad cutters take me 3 times longer.
What others should know:This is not a air gun for a child. It takes quite a bit of force to close. I even have to load and cock it for my missus, that just brings us closer together. So just be aware it does take a lot of force to close which is worst with the red dot on it. - Things I liked:I cant beleive this gun for the money.Is got power and shoots strait and isnt lould.I adjusted the red dot sight and this thing is on point..Got a good feel in my hand to..
Things I would have changed:The only thing that is a pain is loading the pellets but its worth it..
What others should know:I paid fifty bucks for this gun and its a great peice for anyones collection plus its a blast to shoot. I havnt got to shoot it distance yet but i am sure it will be just fine...Buy this.. - Things I liked:For the money this is a great gun so far.Powerfull and seem on point as far as hitting the target..Great deal.

What others should know:I might buy a second one just to have it.. - Things I liked:This has to be the most fun air pistol i have ever owned,not to over look the great trigger and very easy to handle and i can not miss in 20 yrds. I will be getting another one on my net order..

Things I would have changed:Beeman sight is marginal at best, Not very substantial. I guess you get what you pay for
What others should know:Accuracy is disappointing. Have tried five different weights of pellets and cannot get better than 2inches at 10 yds rested.Just buy the gun and select your sight. Returned the first on because of faulty sight - Things I liked:Price accuracy and the great trigger.
Things I would have changed:Add an extra battery for the red dot scope.
What others should know:Some say the loading of the pellets is difficult but with a cheap pair of tweezers you can load up in a snap.This gun was the biggest surprise for my money that I ve had in a long time. Fifty dollar gun that shoots like a gun five times the price.Will be getting another one for myself first one was for my wife.Hope they are all as sweet as the first. - Things I liked:Very smooth light trigger pull. Very accurate once you find the right pellet the particular gun likes. Supplied red dot sight is easy to adjust, but will need loc-tite on screws to maintain settings. Fairly easy to cock. For the money, it is a very good gun, although I had to return the first one I ordered
Things I would have changed:Not the easiest gun to load due to the way the pellets are loaded, but after awhile it gets easier with practice. I have learned to wear light gloves to protect my hand from the open sights biting into my hand when cocking.
What others should know:I had to return the first kit gun I bought because after a couple of hundred pellets, it would hang up, and one never knew if it would fire or not. Sometimes it would have to be cocked three or four times before it would fire. It made for a very unsafe condition when having to recock the pistol. The replacement pistol is much smoother in cocking, and I have had no problems. - Things I liked:Low price. (Apparently") well made. "Fit and finish" is good. Not much shooting experience with it yet, but thus far it seems accurate.
Things I would have changed:Getting the pellet loaded is awkward
What others should know:I had an ulterior motive when I bought this pistol/sight combo. I was "hoping" that I could use the red dot sight on my Gamo "Big Cat", which came with scope but without iron sights. For "nuisance animal control" (raccoons) in low light conditions, the scope wasn't working out. A PERFECT FIT! Works like a charm. - Things I liked:The P-17 is plastic fantastic! Very light weight, high quality polymer body with an excellent rifled steel barrel. Aluminum cylinder and piston with pot metal (zinc aluminum alloy) breach. Accuracy is very good…in fact; it is deadly against flies at about fifteen feet which is about as far as I can clearly see them.
Things I would have changed:The included red dot site is cheaply made plastic and it “wiggles”. I quickly took mine off and relied on the excellent adjustable sights on the pistol.
What others should know:This is the best value out there for a single shot pistol. It has plenty of power and accuracy for target shooting and is the coolest “fly swatter” you could hope for.Keep this gun well oiled. The o rings in the pump and at the receiver can quickly dry out requiring replacement. Not a serious problem because they can easily be replaces with commercially available gaskets if necessary. - Things I liked:pyramid air's return policy

That's not how lead gets into your bloodstream. - Things I liked:Trigger pull is nice and light. Overall feel and balance is good for this style of gun. The gun is very accurate and will compete with guns costing much more.
Things I would have changed:Bevel the edge of where you put the pellet into the barrel. It can be difficult to put a pellet in sometimes. Especially wad cutters.
What others should know:This is my first gun site of this type and it is very accurate. This is a great gun for practicing your shooting skills. Just be careful when closing the gun not to put your hand on the rear of the Red Dot sight at all, as it will throw out the adjustment. - Things I liked:accuracy, price, weight, look
Things I would have changed:it takes quite a lot of effort to cock, not a huge deal though. its awkward to put the pellet in the proper hole. large handed people beware.. loading this pistol could prove troublesome.
What others should know:mine jammed almost every shot after only about 75 shots through it... IT MAY ONLY BE MY GUN - Things I liked:The trigger was crisp. The price for this thing should be $100! (but I'm glad it is not!) THIS IS DEADLY ACCURATE! At 10 yds, I can shoot 7 pellets into a hole half the size on a penny(both hands), and at 6 yds(one hand), I can put 5 pellets into one hole the size of a .25cal pellet!
Things I would have changed:Nothing.....except maybe the cocking effort.
What others should know:Get this gun if you want accuracy. - Things I liked:The pistol itself is well made and very accurate. Great fun to shoot!
Things I would have changed:The reflex sight is marginal as it won't hold a zero and the windage and elevation components are too loose on the base - Things I liked:i've had mine a few years, but have not shot it a lot. Seems to be very well made considering the price, and I have had no problems with it's reliability. Has a good hefty feeling in the hand, and a very nice trigger.
Things I would have changed:It is a little hard to load the pellet. Would probably help if I had smaller fingers. The red dot sight is pretty cheap, and the dot seems too large and bright. It does seem to hold the settings pretty well.
What others should know:I bought this air pistol at a local store, but all of my air gun and air gun supply purchases in the future will be through Pyramyd Air. They are abolutely the best people to deal with anywhere.CommentsBy Jim from USA on 2011-01-24 2 As luck would have it, my seal went out right after I wrote the review. I took the old O ring out (just open the gun, punch out the pin in the forward part of the piston, pull the piston out, and remove the O ring), and took it to a Tru Value hardware. They matched it up (Tru Value number 587691) for 75 cents. I put a little lithium grease on the cylinder when I installed the new O ring and it works fine. - Things I liked:After reading all the reviews about the P17, both good and bad I had to try one.I noticed on the blister pack it said it was a 2006 and P17. The finish as reported is excellent, but after about 20 shots the Beeman sight quit. Tried a different battery but no luck so have been using open sights. Accuracy is fantastic, no problem putting 4 in one hole and usually have a flyer quite often. Has to be my fault. No problems whatsoever, has been perfect. Been shooting indoors about 20'.
Things I would have changed:Called PA about the sight. Would have to send the whole unit back to get a new dot sight. I didn't want to send this unit back as the gun was so good so I told her I would choke on the sight and order another one on my own. About a week later I sent the sight to Beeman with a note and that was the end of that. Never did hear from them and that was in October.Service is no way as good as PA.
What others should know:Most all the different brands of pellets are good but Crosman premier match and Gamo Match seem real good. Even the Daisy precision Match gave a good showing.Cocking pressure is a little rough on my old arms, but believe it or not the exercise has helped my arthritis. This gun is a great buy and one heck of a lot of fun.After about 500 shots I have had no problems at all.CommentsBy Harold from USA on 2011-01-05 0 Harold has to eat crow because yesterday 1/4/11 Ups brought me a new dot sight from Beeman. after I said in my review I hadn't heard from them since I mailed the sight that didn't work to them in October. My apologies to Beeman!! - Things I liked:i definitely like the price, i like that it is pneumatic and does not require CO2, i like the feel of the gun and the weight, and i also like the red dot scope, once its sighted in correctly it is right on the money. definitely worth the extra few dollars to get the scope with it!
Things I would have changed:i would have maybe tried to design a different way of cocking and loading the gun, it is kind of tricky to put the pellet in, but overall this is a great gun

What others should know:This is a great little gun to shoot! I am just a plinker and by no means an expert, but I do love this gun! - Things I liked:Great price, very accurate and good weight and feel in the hand.

What others should know:This is a great gun for the price. I do have to adjust the red dot sight fairly regularly but once dialed in can hit a dime sized target from 25 feet 20+ times in a row. The seals did fail soon after purchase, but it may have been due to my over oiling them. Once replaced with $3.00 worth of O-rings from the hardware store and 30 minutes of tear down cleaning and reassembly its perfect again. - 12
