Things I liked:

Basically everything. Nearly MOA accuracy right out of the box. The Rekord trigger has basically no side-to-side play, and breaks very consistently. The pull weight before adjustment is about 2.5 lbs and very crisp. The stock fit and finish is excellent, with crisp checkering and a nice figure to the grain for not being walnut. The buttpad is well-fitted and the metal finish is superb, as is the bluing. The dovetail offers 3 scope-stop divots for maximum adjustability. The rifle feels very light, short, and well-balanced. I was concerned that the carbine-type length and weight would affect accuracy. I was wrong, this rifle is a tack-driver. There is very little recoil when firing, though it does have a little spring twang. I also prefer a break-barrel to an underlever. I own several of both, and I quickly tire of the cocking and loading procedure of an underlever. They are just not as user-friendly or fast to operate.

Things I would have changed:

If I were very picky about airguns (and I am), I would say that the little bit of spring twang is unwelcome. It isn't severe like a Gamo steel springer, but it is present. My gas ram guns all sound smoother when firing. I don't feel much vibration coming from the gun when I fire it though, and the accuracy does not seem affected by the slight spring twang. I'm sure it will settle down more once broken in, and it is not considerable enough to warrant a tune until the gun actually needs new parts. I'm going to be shooting this gun A LOT.

What others should know:

When I first picked this R9 up, I thought to myself, "This looks very nice, but in my hands it feels pretty light and similar to many of my other cheaper airguns". So, I yanked the scope off of my Gamo CF-X underlever nitro piston rifle and placed it on the R9. I set my rimfire trap out at 25 yards and fired a crosman premier hollow point at it from a rest. It hit a dead-perfect pinwheel on the bullseye without even touching the adjustments. A good-luck sign if I've ever seen one. I then proceeded to shoot 5 more pellets into basically the same hole. My group for 6 shots measured 0.21" from center to center. I was able to repeat roughly this same accuracy for most of the groups I shot at this distance. At 55 yards, with a gusting 5-10 mph side wind, I was able to put 10 shots into roughly 3/4" with several shots touching. I couldn't be more pleased with this rifle. It is light and easy to handle. If you are a hunter or target shooter (or both) this gun will get the job done.

Things I liked:

It's looks. Nice stock, fit and bluing.

Things I would have changed:

The new rifle had accuracy issues out of the box which I suspect are from an inconsistent action lock up. I cleaned the barrel and mounted a 2-7x Hawke scope. The first shots were 4.5" low at 10 yards from a rest so that would be about a 30 MOA droop. Further shooting typically yielded 2.5" groups at 25 yards through about 250 shots with no improvement and some vertical stringing. I used Crosman Premier 14.3 gr. and JSB 15.89 gr. domed pellets. There are a variety of things that could be causing an inconsistent action lock up such a breach washer that's a hair too thick or a cocking arm interference of some kind. Or maybe it was something else entirely. The point is I expect much more for such an expensive new air rifle. I don't want to wait for 1000 break-in shots to see if a new rifle can shoot or not. Or end up having to troubleshoot a new rifle for anything. However, if you are looking for a beautiful "project" rifle, the Beeman R9 may be for you.

What others should know:

Customer service pointed out to me that the manual says it takes 1000 shots for the metal spring to brake in.

    Things I would have changed:

Add gold insert to front sight , which I did shows up a lot better cause sight has hood. see jdcap26 on Y.T for info on that . It is back yard friendly not loud.

    What others should know:

Tighten all screws and clean barrel before using it

    Things I liked:

Very high quality construction, you can tell it was built to last by people who care about workmanship. Quite accurate out of the box, just a couple clicks on the fixed site elevation and I was hitting tight groups at 20 yards.

    What others should know:

Likely add optics at some point but for now it’s been really fun just to plink in the back yard. Noise level is neighbor friendly, just the spring twang and the sound of hitting metal targets.

    Things I liked:

Quality. The R9 (I also own an R7) is a joy to shoot. No cheap plastic. The rifle is not pellet picky. I also like Pyramyd Air's 10 for 10 (20 for 20 on a scoped rifle). It's worth knowing that the rifle is performing as it should before it arrives. Plus you you have the chronograph print out.

    Things I would have changed:

A better owner's manual. And a fiber optic front and rear sight would be a nice option. Perhaps a bit more greese on the main spring. It does have a bit of a twang.

    What others should know:

If you take the rifle off safety, to put the safety back on you must re-cock the rifle. The rear sight has 4 different apertures. To change to a different one, you pull out on it (it's spring loaded) and rotate it to the shape you want. It's easier to do this if you pull the barrel down a bit. The owner's manual is bare bones and does not mention any of this. Be patient when it's new. It may take awhile to set down and start grouping. The "Artillery" hold is a must. And clean the barrel before you start shooting. I already had an R9 & R7 that came with the Mantis scopes. They are great scopes. But I got this one for my brother. He prefers open sights. He's been having a lot of trouble with one of those plastic "big box store" rifles for years. He now knows he should have spent the extra money on a quality rifle like the R9. If properly maintained and cared for, this rifle will be around for the grandkids to enjoy.

    Things I liked:

This air rifle is as accurate as anything on the market including the beautiful HW 97K , it's easier to load and is bargain priced ! The R9 is perfect in every detail including velosity, you can shoot it well in windy conditions. You must however use a recoilless scope mount or it will destroy any scope . This is a bench rest gun that is easy to cock , it has the best trigger period , and incredible accuracy. In my opinion it is the most fun HW springer of all .

    Things I would have changed:

The only thing I change is I would add a warning that with this rifle a recoilless scope mount must be used or all scopes will be destroyed by the double recoil .

    What others should know:

Buy this beautiful well made air rifle and you will own one the most accurate guns on the market today, bar none .

    Things I liked:

Just a great little springer with good power in .177. Mine is just over 15 fpe with many different pellets. Big fan of how compact the gun is and fairly light at 7.5 pounds. Highly accurate. If I'm going hunting for collard dove or smaller sized game this is the rifle I grab and I currently have 24 springers.

    Things I would have changed:

Thought on this for a few days now, can't think of any changes.

    What others should know:

Give the gun a little time to break in for accuracy. Mine out of the gate only had decent accuracy buy after 500 shots and a barrel clean (some advice here is that use only a soft pull through kit) the accuracy is outstanding. Why only a 4 rating?? More like 4.8 as it's nipping at the heels of my .177 TX 200 which is the only "5" in accuracy in my collection.

    I wouldn’t change anything

    What others should know:

Get yourself a good scope and mounts I went with a Hawke 4 by 32 scope and Leapers Accushot scope rings springers are always hard on scopes. Great for small game such as squirrels and rabbits killed many with this amazing air rifle.

    Things I liked:

The appearance of the gun is immaculate, the trigger is awesome. Metal and not plastic everywhere it should be on the outside. Not hold sensitive for me. Cocks smoothly.

    Things I would have changed:

    Can’t comment on change.

    What others should know:

I’ve shot 6 different pellets and weights, they all shoot excellent groups. But none shoot the same even with tenths of a difference in weights. Some shoot high, low, left or right. I’m assuming that this rifle is somewhat pellet sensitive. But the groups are consistent with each pellet weight and brand. I have to use a scope because I’m 68 and my eyes aren’t 20/20 anymore. So what ever brand and weight of pellet I use, I have to set the scope for. In other words whatever pellet I choose to stick with, I set the scope for. I set them for 25 yards and they are fairly consistent out to 50 yards. The rifle is more accurate than I can hold, but with the 2 brands that I can shoot the best, my groups are .25 and .75 inch respectively at the 25 yard mark. This is a mid priced “springer” and of course I love the traditional type rifle. It is a little “buzzy” on the shot but it cocks smoothly. I shoot on a bench with bags or a Caldwell lead sled. It is great for pest control in the backyard.

There is really nothing I would change.

    Things I would have changed:

A little bit better trigger, but the trigger is very nice. I prefer a very very light trigger. Did a little adjustment on the trigger, but not light enough. But that is OK, it really is not a negative on the gun.

    What others should know:

This is my second R9....Pyramid Air did more than support me, they went far beyond and more. First R9 I had, the accuracy was very poor. We are talking about (at times) 3 inches CTC at 20 yards. Lots of fliers and really no groups to concentrate on. Tried about 5 to 6 different pellets, but to no avail. Scope Mount was terrible. It was a Dovetail to a weaver mount. When I finally got it mounted, it was so tight that I couldn't tell if my set screw was in the hole, and it scratched the top of the rifle. I asked if I could swap out the barrels and they said they can't do that. So I sent in the gun for a replacement. Today I got the replacement. Right out of the box I was shooting a .75 CTC at 20 yards with the first pellets I tried. Tried another pellet H&NFFT My group shrank to .5 inch at 20 yards. This gun is right out of the box. It is shooting very fine, and I am sure as I put more pellets through it, it will get even more accurate. Thanks Pyramid. Great Gun so far

    Things I liked:

This baby reeks of quality in every way. Gorgeous finish brings out the exceptional woodgrain on the stock, and I was especially surprised by the fantastic job of checkering. Top quality bluing on the barrel and receiver. Not a flaw to be found ANYWHERE. The trigger has long been known as industry-leading, and the barrel locks up crisp and tight, with zero droop. I've launched about 500 rounds through it so far, and the already solid accuracy just keeps improving as I adjust to the challenges of shooting a powerful break-barrel (having spent my youth chasing down small game with the 70's era Sheridan Blue Streak pneumatic rifle that I still proudly own and shoot).

    Things I would have changed:

Not a darn thing ... except for perhaps the "doink" sound of the spring when the gun is new. I've been told this diminishes somewhat with use. Very anxious to hear the difference when I reach the published 1,000 shot break-in period. Regardless, this is hardly a dig on the gun itself. It's just what you get with rifles utilizing a steel mainspring. Every design has its quirks.

    What others should know:

I purchased this with a Hawke Airmax 3-9x40 scope, which I also highly recommend. Well worth the extra cost. Also, if this is your first high-power break-barrel rifle, be sure to research the proper grip to help counteract the forward/backward thrusts of the mainspring. The wrong grip will prevent you from achieving the incredible accuracy this rifle is capable of. Practice, practice, practice!

    Things I liked:

I like everything about my .20 caliber R9. With the RWS 1" Lockdown mount and a Barska 4-12x40 Airgun scope the accuracy is boring. I look forward to getting it out to the 50 yard and beyond ranges. The R9 that came to my door loves 13.58 H&N Barracudas and it also shot Sheridan Cylindricals pretty well. This is the first Beeman spring rifle I have bought and was eager to compare it to my 30 year old RWS 45 in.177. The build quality seems to be a bit better than the RWS 45 and the cocking and firing feel like some of the "tuned" rifles I have fired. I can't help but think that this rifle in .20 caliber will grow be a favorite of mine. Clearly a keeper.

    Things I would have changed:

The rifle cost more than I expected but quality does cost a little more in most cases. Buying a rifle that doesn't need to be tore down and tuned before you feel good about shooting it is worth a bit more. In a perfect world a real Walnut stock would increase the heirloom appeal of this rifle.(maybe offer it as a option)

    What others should know:

If you're looking at springers and can come up with the $$ difference the R9 seems to be a great rifle. You will be glad you did.

    Things I liked:

Beautiful stock and finish. Superb trigger. Nicely balanced. Easy to cock. Very accurate, after putting an older Bushnell XLT scope on it, achieving dime sized groups at 25 yards. About 200 shots put through it with Air arms, Diabolo Field, 22 cal, 16 gram pellets. 50 Yards require a lighter pellet. Used Benjamin Discovery, Hollow Point, 14.3 Grams and achieved good results but not as good as the heavier pellet at 25 Yards. (May need a lighter pellet?)

    Things I would have changed:

The Safety mechanism is getting somewhat "flaky" . Doesn't always disengage completely.

    What others should know:

You get what you pay for and this pellet gun performs in every aspect. (I returned a Crosman Diamondback SBD Air Rifle, NP Elite for this.) Absolutely no comparison in consistent groups and accuracy.

Light weight, easy cocking and a solid gun that is easy to handle.

    Things I would have changed:

I would like a 22 cal pellet gun (barrel break) that shoots faster then 800 fps but then the weight gets out of control. Beeman has the best balance with one of the lightest weight barrel break rifles and a fast 800+ fps output. A 10 pound rifle would not be worth the buy at least for me.

    What others should know:

So I put my own scope on that i had laying around for years. It took me about 30 shots to zero in the scope. This bad boy rifle is spot on. I can hit half dollar shots all day long at 30 yards. Squirrels hitting my bird feeders Will not have a chance and that is why I bought a Beeman.

I just wanted to add my two cents. I bought my R9(.20 cal)in December of 1995. The spring broke after two days. At the time, I lived about 40 minutes away from Beeman USA(Huntington Beach, Calif.)so I drove it there to have the spring replaced while I waited. They didn't have any springs for an R9 so they told me they put in a modified R1 spring instead. I have since put over 9000 rounds through it without a single problem(Beeman Kodiaks worked the best). It still shoots with amazing accuracy and I still use it almost daily to rid my yard of pests. The one down side is ammo is getting harder to find.

This air rifle is phenomenal! It shoots like a tuned gun right out of the box. Maybe I got lucky but I hear no twang what's so ever. Shoots in one hole at 20yds which is what my basement allows. Its very light and with a compact airmax scope makes for an amazing shooting package. Trigger is great as well although I love the T06 triggers.
