Things I liked:

I like the weight and general fit to hand. I use it to improve point & shoot handgun style shooting. It's even a pretty close fit in that I can use the holster for my Springfield Arms WX-d 3.8 in .40 S&W. It holds 16 in the clip and this BB pistol holds 16 shots. It works real well for honing eye/hand coordination. Good way to get in the needed practice without burning up a lot of expensive ammunition. The trigger pull is kind of long, but using the point & shoot tech. you use the middle finger on the trigger instead of the index finger so it's not a problem. The sights seem to fine. But with P & S they are not used, and the longest distance at which I practice is 25 feet. I have been getting 96 shoots from one CO2 cartridge. c

Things I would have changed:

Can't think of anything. I like this pistol.

Things I liked:

Look and feels good- easy load

Things I would have changed:

Misfires frequently bb's load easy enough but after repeating fire often nothing comes out and it's very frustrating- constantly checking to see is its jammed

    Things I liked:

Captive magazine is easy to load, c02 is easy to load, pistol is accurate and functions well. I didn’t expect this gun to be as much fun as it is. Trigger pull is nice and smooth and the c02 cylinders seal well with no leakage. It also feels good in my hand.

    Things I would have changed:

Adjustable sights might be nice or maybe just making it a three dot sighting system. But overall the sights are easy to use.

    What others should know:

This was a good deal for the money and I’d recommend this pistol to anyone who enjoys a well functioning, easy to use and pretty accurate BB gun that is easy on the budget. I’ve put several hundred rounds through mine and have experienced no problems with the gun.

BB mag capacity, all metal, safety, weight and balance, trigger pull weight.

    Things I would have changed:

CO2 access grip attachment, fixed rear sight, fit and finish of slide, CO2 cartridge seal.

    What others should know:

Recently manufactured Crossman 12 gram CO2 cartridges not seating/sealing properly. All the CO2 leaks out upon installation. Don't know if it's the pistol or the cylinders, but I had no problem with previous batch of CO2 cylinders.

    Things I liked:

I like the weight and feel of the pistol. It fits nicely to my hand. The 2 stage trigger is smooth, without too much pressure. I like the definition of the break point during the pull (a little click is heard) where the bb is loaded. At this point, aim can be zeroed in to achieve better accuracy. Out of the box the aim is pretty good. I have only shot at 10 yds but can puncture a soup can at this distance. I had some misfires using Crosman copper heads, but none after switching to Umarex Hornady bb. It is quite efficient on gas, yesterday I shot 7 magazines on one cartridge in 40F temperatures after sitting, pressurized for over 6 weeks. Addition of a tactical flashlight was simple using the under barrel weaver rail.

    Things I would have changed:

The catch on the grip closure is sometimes difficult to engage.

    What others should know:

This has the typical accuracy and comfort as other Umarex pistols such as the XBG and Luger nonblowback with the 2 stage trigger.

    Things I liked:

This is an early review, but here are my observations so far: Solid build, quick to aim, accurate, hard hitting, no energy wasted on artificial recoil, easy to load. Claims 410 fps, but I have a pretty well-tuned ear, and I am hearing back from target more like 450-460 fps. Shoots clear through 1/2-inch sheet rock from 10 feet and still ricochets on the other side, albeit faintly.

    Things I would have changed:

trigger pull is just about a "felt" 3/32" too long, but still a good trigger. I just think it pulls past the optimal release point.

    What others should know:

happy with this pistol so far. Rounds fired: 100 Still on original CO2 cartridge

    Things I liked:

Nice size, very realistic not as heavy at the real thing

    Things I would have changed:

    more durable

    What others should know:

have had this a couple years. It has been sitting put away during that time. Very little use. Less than ten air cartridges used. Was using it to teach gun safety with the grandchildren when it may a loud noise of escaping air-like a fart. It ceased operation and would not safe, would not fire. Removed the cartridge-still air in it. On inspection notice the barrel was sticking out of the muzzle about a half inch. There are no screws to take it apart so there is no way for me to attempt a repair. It was cheap but I certainly didn't expect this type failure. It would cost more to repair than replace. The replacement will be something other than this one. Dissappointed.

    Things I liked:

Looks. Size. Loading the co2 and bbs' is perfect. Trigger pull is perfect, not too hard not toot soft, just the right amount of pressure to feel the trigger right when it's about to go off. All metal construction gives it a more realistic feel. Accuracy is good, even better with a laser attached. Ease of oiling the seal. Sight window is great. Grips feel good, I have large hands and this doesn't feel like a little pistol. Safety is operational with one finger. The Colt logo on the handles is top notch.

    Things I would have changed:

I know it probably couldn't be for the U.S. market, but if the white warning writing was toned down like the euro models, that would be great. Other than that, not much to complain about.

    What others should know:

It shoots a little low so, adjust your sight slightly higher than dead on the bull. I attached a Gamo laser and it shoots deadeye now. Be careful when sliding the grip aside to load the co2 and bbs', don't force it over as you may pop it off the spring. Let it slide over by itself, don't force it. Other than that, have fun with it..it's a great pistol.

    Things I liked:

    Simple, reliable, accurate and inexpensive

    Things I would have changed:

The silver tape in the ejection port is a little cheesy. I just peeled it off and the gun still looks great. Other than that it does exactly what I bought it for.

    What others should know:

I love fully functional replica airguns, but I bought this little Defender specifically because it was not a GBB. I wanted a practice piece that was inexpensive and simple. For that it is perfect! I've already put a few hundred BBs through it without a single problem! Since it was only 50 bucks I don't have to worry if I wear it out. The DAO trigger is a little stiff at 10+ lbs but it smoothed out nicely after a coupe of shooting sessions. Rather than spending a fortune at the range with my DAO carry piece, I can get in a some practice in my basement between visits to the range and save some money. Highly recommended!

    Things I liked:

Quality build, impressive well thought out engineering, realistic look and weight, hard hitting... quite an amazing little CO2 BB pistol for 50 bucks

    Things I would have changed:

    so far not a thing

    What others should know:

Not a hard core air pistol guy but from past experience owning several different air pellet and BB pistol models of one other brand, which I thought were of top quality for the money that shall remain anonymous, I was quite blown away with the quality, weight, and shooting of this little Umarex built Colt Defender BB pistol. And this little gun shoots BB's HARD and quite accurately for such a short barrel. I am amazed at its performance. Also the CO2 and BB magazine built right into the handle is the best loading setup I have ever used in any air pistol. Most drop out BB magazines I have used work only adequately at best but most of the ones I have seen and/or used are close to junk and fail miserably quite a lot. Umarex nailed it with this set up. Absolutely an amazing little BB pistol that I would not bat an eyelash using for personal protection carry if a real handgun can't be. And all for 50 bucks!!! Very well done Umarex!!!

Pistol is attractive. Weight is substantial and pleasant. The approach to CO2 and magazine is creative and effective.

    Things I would have changed:

DAO trigger is quite stout. I got this for my wife to get off a few shots here and there at stray cats, and it works well for that; but the trigger pressure makes extended shooting sessions wearisome.

    Things I liked:

It's a very close relative to the real thing, both Colt and other similar 1911's. It shoots well, fits well, and is pretty accurate for use as a "real" gun practice substitute.

    Things I would have changed:

Yes, I'd love to see a slide lock back action and the safety on the proper side. But I realize these things would cost money and wouldn't be worth it unless it was only minimal extra. As is, the cost/value is just right.

    What others should know:

This is my second one of these, the first one started leaking at the cartridge neck. Now this was probably my fault, because for some reason it never occurred to me (and I hadn't read) that you shouldn't leave partially used cartridges in the gun for extended periods. Mea Culpa. Well, I've learned and this is a pretty reliable well build gun otherwise.
