Things I liked:

I have had mine for four years now and it shoots just as well now as on day one. As with any springer I had to learn the hold (artillery hold). Until I did it was a bit frustrating. I don't know how many tins of pellets I have put through this and it seems to really like the H&N Hollow Point pellets out to medium distances of 20 yards. I bought a Williams FP-AG-TK aperture sight and thanks to the assortment of front sight inserts included with the rifle managed to increase my open sight accuracy. This is however what I really like, no love, about the rifle. It looks ordinary and when I take it out to shoots then it gets disparaging glances and smirks from other people. That is until I start shooting with it. I get tighter groupings with the open sights than others can manage with their springer air rifles with telescopic sights. With open sights I can give a PCP with scope a good run for its money. Watching people's jaws drop in amazement and not the looks is what you pay for. I have never had to tighten a screw on the rifle (something another person commented on) and I have put many thousands of pellets through the gun. It is the original from which all other magnum springers took their cue.

Things I would have changed:

After four years I cannot think of anything. For plinking, target shooting, exterminating vermin or bunny bashing it just does the job, no fuss, no muss.

What others should know:

This rifle is the same as the Beeman R1 and if it annoys you that they are not available with open sights then this is the rifle you should get. My rifle is a bit pellet fussy and to get the best out of it I had to find the pellet that worked best at the range I wanted to shoot at. One size did not fit all. It took me quite a while to find the hold that got the most out of the rifle. This was quite frustrating in the beginning and I thought that perhaps I had made a mistake in buying it; however perseverance paid off and I take a kind of perverse pleasure in watching others miss when I let them shoot with it. It has become an old friend and people are amazed that I have not done any tuning on it because of its accuracy. How do I know it is the gun and not the shooter? When I use other people's springers I just cannot get the grouping I get with my HW80. I am not going to disparage names here, but I realise that I got my money's worth and the rifle is so inherently accurate that it has allowed me to reach my full potential.

Things I liked:

Beautiful rifle, this is actually current production HW80SL with upgraded stock. Imo an excellent value.

Things I would have changed:

I would add sling swivels at the factory a la HW35E to help carry this large heavy rifle comfortably.

What others should know:

Large and heavy with a high cooking force required. This is a hunter not a plinker.

    Things I liked:

heavy, accurate. had some 18.2 gr barracuda hp pellets @ 30-40 yards slaps tin cans even with factory sights after slight adjustment. nice lock up. hits very hard. my first springer in .22

    Things I would have changed:

don't like the factory front sight. ordered a fiber optic one. rifle is a bit pricy but quality usually is.

    What others should know:

after the first 30 rounds or so, the 2 trigger guard and the 2 forearm screws became loose. took them out , cleaned them, used blue loctite. put it away til tomorrow to set up. still a great gun. also i paid for the adult signature upon delivery but they just left it with the other stuff when they got to my work. going to take that up with fedx. not PA's fault. only 3 bucks but it was a service i paid for and i did not get. just beware.

    Things I liked:

I bought this in 0.22 from Pyramyd through Amazon. I love this rifle. It is my most accurate 0.22. The fit and finish are very nice. It now has over 1200 rounds through it, and continues to grow more accurate. I prefer this rifle over all my other 0.22 springers including my Weihrauch HW95 and my Air Arms TX200. It is a bit heavy, but produces more power in the range of 18 to 20 fpe.

    Things I would have changed:

    Nothing.

    What others should know:

This 0.22 prefers different pellets at different distances. Ten shot groupings produce the following center to center results during bench testing. Air Arms Dome Field Heavy 18 gr is from 0.21 to 0.30 inch at 10 yds, H+N Field Target Trophy 5.55mm 14.66 gr is from 0.46 to 0.83 inch at 20 yds, and Gamo Red Fire is from 0.79 to 1.36 inch at 30 yds.

    Things I liked:

I like the weight I put a Tasco scope on it and $69 air gun scope 3 to 9 power came with rings. I cant believe its a TAC driver Ive got 400 pellets through it and it’s settled down I have a Beeman or one I bought almost 38 years ago I just rebuilt it this is exactly like it except is the 22 the stocks a little different Beeman went all out with the white spacers. Pretty much the same rifle. If pyramid wanted the rifle back I wouldn’t sell it to him there’s no way it was so worth the money if you use them. I Baron DEER HUNT so this is a great gun it’s heavy I love the weight I love the scope weight because it teaches me all through the year to be able offhand shoot. So when I bring my real rifle up to my shoulder I laugh because I have a lot of training I know it’s just a pellet gun it’s not a 338 Lappula but the wait is there and you can train anywhere that’s what I love sign out the Bearhunter

    Things I would have changed:

The only thing I would change is I wish America would make these spring guns after rebuilding my R one theres really nothing to him I can’t believe we have not made one since I am also hard to come by for some people this is the best alternative we should make these rifles here that’s what I would change even bigger fatter and better a little fatter gas cylinder may be a 35 mm see what they can do since we don’t have any feet per second restrictions they would push heavier pellets faster just food for thought .

    What others should know:

The only thing you should know is if you mess its your fault not the Rifles. So you have to rifle up if you cant do it. And I mean if you cant do Yet by a daisy red Ryder

    Things I liked:

I have the HW80 in 22 caliber. This is the "Dream Rifle". Mine is extremely accurate, hard hitting, best trigger, very nice stock, precision open sights and has a build quality second to none. My best 5 shot group at 50 yards is 3/4 inch. This is the "King" of Break barrel air rifles.

    Things I would have changed:

It could use a top hat, a better fitting spring guide, a little nicer stock with checkering on it. The price is getting too high at $640.00.,I bought mine 2 years ago for $465.00.

    What others should know:

Mine shoot many pellets good, CPHP 14.3, CPUM 14.3, JSB 15.89, JSB 18.13 and H&N FTT 14.66 the best. Stop buying cheap break barrel rifles expecting to get great results, it won't happen. You don't need a super magnum springer like a Gamo Magnum, you need balence and precision. SpringPistonRifleFever

This is the most accurate and powerful springer I have shot. I have several cheap springers and there is no comparison.I added a scope simply because I could not see target at 50 yards. Trigger is perfect out of box no adjustment needed.I have not shot past 50 yards yet I expect tight grouping at least to 75 yards

    What others should know:

If you want a good air gun dont Cheap out go ahead and spend the money, and do research on what kind of gun you want. Try different pellets, they shoot different in different guns. Always check all screws they will loosen over time

    Things I liked:

Just opened my package from Pyramid Air 30 minutes ago. After a quick inspection to account for contents and obvious defects I had to take a few minutes to compare the build quality against a Hatsan135 that I happen to have out for a good wipe down. The build quality on my Hatsan is (this particular Hatsan is several years old. The HW-80 is a notch or two better. Joints are tight, all components on the HW-80 look and feel high end. The Hatsan has some nice quality too but not necessarily every component. After inspecting the HW-80 I ran a brand new bore snake through a a cpl of times. No heavy grease or oil noticable. Bore looks very nice. I changes the Aperture Insert to the one with the bead on top of a post grabed some crossman premier domes and headed out the back door. I have some spinners set up at 15yrds for easy plinking. Out of the box this rifle is hitting quater size spinners at 15 yards. The trigger fired so easy that the first shot startled me. The rest dead on.

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing really at this point. It is a hefty rifle though but it is pretty much a magnum level rifle .

    What others should know:

Not a plinker, I bought this for hunting. I am not sure that most people would be able to shoot 100 rounds consecutively in one sitting. I will update after more use.

    Things I liked:

Mine in .20 caliber just arrived. Put a Hawke Vantage 3x12x44 on it. Dialed it in in two moves. I always take my Hawke, and turn elevation up 180 degree turn before I mount now. After six of 'em you know what they do. So. I stacked two JSB pellets at my 40 yard zero. I handed the rifle to my pal, the Homicide detective, and he stacked two pellets. That's two people that shoot alot duplicating the same result. Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!

    Things I would have changed:

Mine looks and shoots perfectly. I like the old school stock, or classic. The forestock feels like my HW35E. Don't change anything. Maybe offer a walnut stock option?

    What others should know:

I tighten my screws before each session using my Weaver gunsmith driver set. That way, the rifle doesn't trick you into thinking your scope lost zero. I know it sounds lame, but when you do it every time, then you won't be aggravated by loosening screws. Start off your session exactly the same way each and every time on these rifles especially. Have fun, shoot safely. Thank you, Pyramid Air for another beautiful rifle.

    Things I liked:

everything!!! this is it folks! the perfect air rifle. along with its little sister the R9 these German made springers are simply the best quality for your buck. I know there are a lot of folks out there that love their PCP's - and that's great - but if you're a die hard springer fan then this ones for you my friend. the accuracy is nothing but amazing, get it, shoot it, and see. I got mine a few months ago and put around 500 pellets through it so far - ( keep in mind it takes a couple hundred pellets to break in these bad puppies) but after you do it's phenomenal. with the right pellet like JSB's or RWS or even H&N pellets I'm putting 8 shots on a nickel at 45 yards on a 2-4 mph breezy day! no joke. I'll never go to another springer although I've been hearing a lot of good hype about the HW98 (German made) , I'm sure it's very accurate as well. and by the way, these rifles are constructed with exceptional craftsmanship you just can't go wrong with German made excellence

    Things I would have changed:

the only thing I would change on this rifle Is.. NOTHING! It's terrific!! thanks to Pyramyd Air for supplying such great airguns

    What others should know:

I bought mine (.22 cal. HW80 ) I learned from, Pyramyd Air, that this air rifle is basically the same as the older Beeman R1 which I used to have a long time ago - and yes, that one too, was absolutely, one of the most accurate air rifles you could buy on the market. If you decide to get an HW80 keep in mind the short break -in period. check the barrel before shooting - make sure it's clean - secure, tightly, all screws - put a good quality scope on ( don't mess with cheapies on this one) shoot about 200-300 good quality pellets like JSB's or H&N pellets and then, just simply be amazed. Good luck to all air gunners and please be safe always.

    Things I liked:

It is what you expect from a classic air rifle without the gas piston magnum development.

    Things I would have changed:

Screws do have to be retightened and whatever HW uses to do this is a mystery--every single HW I have has buggered screws because of the single slot mystery they keep over there in Germany. Use Allens instead.

    What others should know:

It is a large rifle around high powered scoped bolt range like the 70 or 700 or 77 win/rem/ruger. It weighs more than a pellet rifle. It shoots about as accurate as a .22 Long Rifle in a reputable lever or bolt--better than pump or auto .22. Get a scope in low power from 4x to lower and forget about heavier and bigger and bulkier scopes. This one shoots 5/8" at 15 yards for five shots of H&N Crow Magnum .177 8.8grs. Velocity is higher than my TM RAW Single Shot PCP Match Rifle--I'd say maybe 50fps.

    Things I liked:

I thought the stock would look to small and come to find out its great for this rifle. it is the smoothest cocking break barrel I have. No spring grinding when cocking and about same force to cock as my diana 34. very little. diesling. pretty quiet to shoot and nice balance.

    Things I would have changed:

no stamping on air rifle for identification, now it just put on like diana's symbol is. the front globe is part metal not sure if tube is aluminum or plastic. didn't stick to a magnet.

    What others should know:

seems to like larger diameter pelletts jsb's were pretty loose going in but h and n's in 22 cal. fit snug.

    Things I liked:

I just got my HW80 and after around 100 rounds have the following thoughts. Powerful..even though the rifle is not broken in, my power output with JSBJumboExacts is 19.5ftlbs at a solid 745 fps (SD is 3). Accuracy is very good to excellent for a stock springer at this power level. One hole 5 shot groups at 10M are pretty easy if you do your part. I normally immediate update to a Vortek kit and have one waiting, but I am not sure if the modest performance gain is worth the effort yet. Don't think I can say anything new about the Rekord trigger, they are simply great if you know how to adjust them. Typical Weihrauch craftsmanship, excellent metal work and finish, stock is functional and comfortable but it is stained birch and is pretty plain. Out of the box not the smoothest, but is instantly one of the best performing shooters in my stable - Theoben Crusader .20, Marauder .25, AirForce TalonSS, R7 .20, R9 .22, HW50s .177, Benji 392, Hatsan 125 Vortex .25.

    Things I would have changed:

Weight is the common complaint, but this is a big, heavy, powerful rifle and the weight seems to help dampen recoil making it fairly easy to shoot for a "magnum". My Crusader and R9 are a lot more hold sensitive and less powerful. My sample was pretty rough while cocking and somewhat buzzy during the shot cycle but is smoothing out. A tune would fix this, but as good as it seems to be in stock configuration I will tolerate the roughness and see where it goes after break in. Smaller statured shooters may struggle with the overall size and cocking effort this is definitely an "adult" airgun. I disagree with comments that this is easier to cock than the R9, my HW80 sample is definitely heavier to cock but very manageable.

    What others should know:

Spectacular "super magnum" air rifle that is built like a proverbial tank. Workmanship is very good and the HW80/R1 has a reputation of being nearly indestructible. My sample is showing great promise after 100 rounds and is very consistent at 19.5 ftlbs with a variety of pellets. So far it loves JSB Jumbo exact at 745fps. Versus the R1 the stock is a little plainer and you don't get a brake, but you get iron sights (I wanted for hunting) and save a decent chunk of money. FYI Weihrauch warranty is only one year vs Beeman's lifetime warranty so this may be an important offset for you. I service my own guns so did not feel that it was worth the premium ( I paid $525 with promo for the HW80 vs $614 for the R1). As always YMMV.

    Things I liked:

After a few weeks and 800+ pellets: My first air rifle so can't compare to anything else. Love it, well made. The screws do need loctire blue, which solved the loose screw problem. Has a twang, but doesn't affect the performance. At 60 feet with Beeman Kodiak 10.65 pellets I got a group of 5 within 49/64th of an inch, slightly over 3/4 inch. Hawke scope. Left hand resting on a sand bag. So I don't know if that is excellent accuracy or not.

    Things I would have changed:

Eliminate twang if possible. Use loctite at the factory. Wish the manual would state what to do after 4 or 5 thousand shots maintanance wise.

    What others should know:

The built in sights work very well. After I shoot at 50 yards I'll add to my review.
