Things I liked:

I got my HW50s during a sale and had it dropped shipped to John Thomas in PA for a tune. What I got is the most perfect air rifle I've owned to date. So far I've owned an HW30, 77, and 80 - all fine rifles... but the HW50s is just right for me. I'm big guy shooting recreationally on several acres, plinking 10-30m with open sights and this gun suits me better than any other springer or PCP yet. Finish and appearance is top-notch but I do recommend a tune job on any of these nicer rifles. Mine is smooth and moderate powered, not too heavy or clumsy, but not "too" light like an HW30. It's still stout enough not to be a kid's rifle. But not a beast like the field target models....

Things I would have changed:

I've had a couple of tuned and a couple of stock HWs now and much prefer the tuned ones ;-p Out of the box the ones I've had needed a lot of shooting to smooth out.

What others should know:

I think most adult males can cock this rifle all day long (put the butt on your thigh) and it delivers enough umph for backyard pesting in .177. Mine likes JSB Exact 8.4gr.

Things I liked:

The butt stock length was a bit long for me, It fit my hubby better. I like the length of his Diana 48 better, but that gun is too heavy for me. This one is much lighter. The wood stock has some great checkering too! The cocking effort took a little getting used to, but was fine once I did. The sights that it came were nice, with different inserts for the globe, and a rotating choice of 4 notches on the rear leaf. Though I thought it kind odd having a leaf rear/w/globe front. The trigger is phenomenally good, and accuracy was wonderful, UNTIL...

Things I would have changed:

The gun may be too light! The wooden stock design needs changing, and/or beefing up. After about 80-100 rds, group size opened up considerably, and upon inspection my hubby found all the screws had loosened up, and the front of the stock on both sides in front of the barrel pivot were cracking. Also, the auto safety is odd for a right handed shooter. it releases left to right. Good for a lefty, but I would have preferred it right to left.

What others should know:

Pyramid air exchanged it for another one, free, but the replacement had buggered up screws, especially the front sight screw. It looked like someone used budget wedge blade screwdrivers instead of more proper hollow ground type screwdriver bits. Whether we got a REMAN, or someone new at the factory was being trained we don't know It was definitely not put together well. It too was sent back, but for a refund. All told we were less than impressed and we're moving on to a different brand.

    Things I liked:

The fit is quite nice! It's clearly machined better than lower-end, cheaper manufacturers. The weight is perfect and reminds me of your grandpa's little single shot .22; light enough to be comfortable, but not too light that it'd difficult to keep on target. The trigger is very good, although I wouldn't say it's excellent. There is no clean 2nd stage wall. Just a little slop in it, but certainly a huge improvement over most airgun triggers. The stock is beautiful, too! As for accuracy, Barracuda Match in 5.52 head size seem to perform best. Minus a flyer here and there, I had a number of groups at 40 yards just a hair over 1/4".

    Things I would have changed:

Blueing is bordering on amateur. I've seen better blueing on hundred-year-old milsurp rifles. The one I received should have been marked as a blem, and it's shocking to think Weihrauch would have allowed this one to leave their factory. Not impressed in the slightest with the finish. Cocking effort is excessive for such a low-powered .177 springer as well. I have "magnum" springers that are significantly easier to cock that won't wear you out after an hour. It's a matter of leverage I'm sure, so there isn't much that could be done if the goal is to keep the rifle short and handy.

    What others should know:

Assuming you don't get a blemished rifle and you're skipping arm day at the gym, this is a nice rifle. But at its current price ($420), I wouldn't recommend it. I would have been fine spending $300 on it with the lousy blueing, but I definitely pulled the short straw for a high price. If you do find one on sale, grab one. $325 would be fair. And if you don't have a way to run a few patches through the bore, grab a pull-through bore cleaner too. The barrel of mine was horrendous and it would not group without a few dozen patches through it first.

    Things I liked:

Shot tiny groups right out of the box! Beautiful trigger, beautiful workmanship, nice iron sights with several different front sight posts included, powerful. I have been a firearm shooter most of my life, and I have high accuracy standards for any gun--including an air rifle. This excellent rifle easily meets those standards.

    Things I would have changed:

The automatically engaged safety is a pain in the neck. It clicks onto safe as soon as the piston is cocked. To my German friends I say, "Don't be so German and crazy about engineering!" Let me decide when I want the safety on.

    What others should know:

It is a true air rifle and no BB gun. According to the Weihrauch manual it requires air rifle smithing (professional) after x amount of rounds. The air piston washer eventually wears out, even with proper user-level maintenance. N.B.: Expect to smell hot lubricant and hear a noisy gun for the first twenty bullets or so. The rifle is breaking in, and this is normal.

    Things I liked:

The hw 50s is a really wonderful air rifle! The quality is amazing. It is beautiful to look at and handle. It has pinpoint accuracy and I love it's weight.

    Things I would have changed:

I have changed the spring to an original hw30 spring and changed the piston seal to a vortek piston seal which has a guide bushing on the rear . This tamed the rough recoil and made it a more accurate gun with much easier cocking. It's the gun that I have always wanted to own and now I have it ! Perfecto !

    What others should know:

The hw 50s has the size and weight that is perfect for hours of shooting . The trigger is absolutely perfect and makes this gun amazingly accurate. The hw 50s accuray and feel will make you laugh and giggle again like when you were a kid ! The quality of the hw 50s is amazing, it's absolutely perfect in every way .

    Things I liked:

I received my first real air rifle in late march, a HW50S . I really like the weight , not to light but not to heavy, just right. I have read reviews on this rifle that said the cocking was stiff . I did not find it to be a problem. Out of the box it was dead on at 25 yds. I have been using a 17 H M R for varmint control but to loud. I think I made the right choice !! I like the interchangeable front sights . I saw on a review someone was having trouble seeing the front sight and recommended painting the back sigh white. I used a DecoColor opaque paint marker and it worked ! The contrast really helped ! I will report back after my first 500 rounds.

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing now maybe a scope later.

    What others should know:

Don’t waste your money on four cheap rifles like I did, get good well made one from the start.

    Things I liked:

This is my second Weihrauch air rifle, and as expected, it's a beautiful gun. Fit, finish, and build quality are flawless. I was planning on mounting an RWS diopter sight, but after putting a few dozen rounds through it, I think I'll leave it as is because the included iron sights are really nice and work well. You get a pack of optional inserts for the front sight, and the rear has 4 different notches to choose from. Being winter, I can't do any real bench shooting and testing, but I did put around 50 rounds of .177 Gamo 7.56gr wadcutters through it offhand at some small paddle targets at 25 yards, and after a couple of clicks of up elevation was hitting them every time. Cocking effort to me is on the heavier side, but easily manageable. Report was a bit sharp for the first ten or so rounds, but quickly settled down to a mild snap. Spring noise is there, but it's very mild, and not a problem in my opinion. The Rekord trigger breaks at a very clean 2lbs out of the box. Great rifle!

    Things I would have changed:

    I wouldn't change a thing.

    What others should know:

This might be the best overall general purpose spring-piston gun in my collection. It's very trim and light, and although not a "magnum" class gun, has plenty of power for plinking or small pest control. The Minelli stock has a combination of stippling and checkering that looks great and gives you a positive grip. The wood itself on mine is tight-grained with some really nice figuring. The polished blue finish is deep and very consistent. Weihrauch guns tend to be on the pricier side, but you definitely get what you pay for. Right out of the box it's a great setup. This gun's a keeper.

A beautiful stock, fantastic craftsmanship! I am very impressed with it so far. I haven't been able to shoot much...yet. It's been raining almost ever since I got it. I will update this review when I get a chance to try it out fully.

    Things I would have changed:

    Nothing.

Everything sales said it would be. Powerful and accurate rifle is an excellent shooter. The craftsmanship is undeniable.

    Things I would have changed:

I don't believe it's really necessary for the safety to automatically engage when the gun is cocked.

    What others should know:

I handle it ok. The 24 pound cocking pressure doesn't sound like much but I can see where some may have a bit of a struggle after a bit of shooting.

    Things I liked:

This rifle is lightweight and shoulders very well. I was looking for a no frills, accurate .22 rifle, not very hold sensitive, for target shooting and plinking off-hand with iron sights. I got the rifle in perfect condition, everything being as described by most reviewers. At 30 yards and after adjusting the windage quickly I was able to hit the 3 in spinning target every time despite the dieseling and using the only pellets I had on hand (14.3 gr hollow point Crossman). BTW I'm an amateur plinker with no prior hunting or off hand shooting experience.

    Things I would have changed:

There is nothing that I would change, at least for the purpose I got the rifle. The rifle came with 2 loose screws ( the ones holding the trigger), which was a bit odd for a German made rifle, but I just tightened them with flat headed screwdriver and corrected that issue. The rifle makes a little noise when fired, so a neighbor may get curious if close by. From what I read tuning can reduce the noise, I may look to do that in the future if I feel the need.

    What others should know:

I bought this rifle to challenge myself and learn new skills. I like the build, accuracy, and classic look of the rifle. I got what most reviewers already outlined about the rifle so I am very happy with my purchase.

    Things I liked:

Can't belive this is a referb. Everthing is absolute excellent. Except for the stock wood not being the nicest grain. I cant find anything wrong with it. Not hard to cock as some have stated. Not too heavy like some of the beasts out there. Action smooth as silk. All screws tight!. Getting less than dime sized groups at 10 meters with H&N FTT 8.64 grain 4.52 size after 30 rnds. Still learning the hold.

    Things I would have changed:

Put safety on right side for operation. For the price Weihrauch charges for these guns a walnut stock would be nicer.

    What others should know:

Clean the barrel good before you shoot it. Shoot about 15 rounds and clean it again. Groups really shrink. For us older shooters 70 ish. The Eyepal aperatures for your glasses are so much better for the iron sights. Realy needs a williams peep sight. Searching for the one with Target nobs.
