I like it's good looks, highest quality, tremendous accuracy with Crossman Premiere HP pellets, its legendary reputation and the pride of ownership all this instills! This is a gun to pass on to future family! Definitely an heirloom quality investment that will serve generations of hunters!

Adjust the trigger (very easy to do) after getting used to the factory settings. Hold lightly and exactly the same everytime and you'll see PCP quality groups, or real close!

The rifle is beautiful! Operation is simple and easy! It shoots like a dream with Crossman Premiere HP, Destroyers, Gamo Redfires and Predator Polymags which are all I've tried!

Wish it had a Walnut stock option like the Air Arms.

Feel, fit and finish, trigger, and prefer this bear trap mechanism to that of others.

I also bought the Walther LGU Mater Pro (.22) around the same time and shot them both together. I prefer the Weihrauch feel, trigger and overall finish. If you don't mind paying decent money for an air rifle, then you are doing yourself a favor by getting one of these, if you already don't have one. If $400 to $500 is stretching your budget, I suggest you consider saving up to get one, you won't regret it.

This Weihrauch HW 97K which I purchased in .177 caliber is an exquisitely crafted air rifle. The fit and finish is superb. The design and the proportions are beautiful. The stock is perfectly stained, handsomely finished and crisply and flawlessly checkered. The bluing is likewise flawless and very rich and deep. Everything about this air rifle exudes the quality that one expects from a premium German product...quality of design, quality of execution, and quality of operation. It is smooth, precise, reliable, robust and accurate. The pride of ownership of such a fine air gun is entirely worth the purchase price. The HW97K is quite heavy, but its robustness adds stability and contributes to accuracy, Altogether it is a premium product and well worth its cost.

I would change nothing.

I am confident that the HW 97K, a tried and true classic and highly refined. Because of its considerable weight it is not an air gun that lends itself, in my view, to much carrying about in the field. However, I believe that it is eminently suited for precise target shooting from the bench, and that is what I use it for. The Rekord trigger is magnificent.

very good build quailty

Mine was a blem stock deal, so I couldn't pass it up. The dent in comb was reduced by 90%. Took wet patches, and swelled it out. Took at least 10 patches. It's really a sweet size rifle. Just right for bench or field. It's so smooth to cock the rifle too. Very easy using the seated, butt-on-thigh stroke. Then on the upswing it makes a noise that sounds like a hydraulic hinge noise. It's freaking cool as heck. Now, as far as performance in .177 using H&N field pro 8.64gr it is a dream rifle. Holes in your holes type accuracy. I ran some Barracuda Hunter hp 10.5gr in there, and tweaked the elevation. They shoot dimes at 50 yards too. How fun is that?

I always tighten screws every single time I bring a rifle to the bench. This rifle does seem to loosen up if you shoot alot. So, if your scope loses zero, tighten screws up, then re-test. Use good tools too. Get a gun smith driver set $35-45 investment. Weihrauchs have a need for good slotted screwdriver tips!

I don't normally shoot .177, but decided to try this rifle for this caliber based upon reviews. I was overwhelmed at the accuracy at 40-80 yards on .177. Use a good mount and Hawke Vantage SF. This rifle will amaze you as you shoot through the same hole.

Overall its a very nice rifle. Fit and Finish is excellent. Accuracy is also excellent. Trigger is one of the best I've seen on any air rifle. I've tried a number of airguns, and when a friend offered to let me borrow his "tuned" 97 for a weekend, I jumped at it. I basically tested the WK97 head to head with my Sig ASP20.

The cocking lever was a bit loose in the holder, and would rattle with every shot (I was told the gun shot count was around 1500 rounds). I had a difficult time with loading... there's just not enough room there for my big hands/fingers. It would really benefit from either a higher or adjustable comb..... I found myself having to "reach" to see well through the scope. Even though this was supposedly a "tuned" gun, it had an annoying "buzz" and vibration after each shot. I've only shot about 5 different "spring" guns....and they have all had the "buzz/vibration" to one degree or another.... that's just very annoying to me. Not having any preconceived notions or bias, I don't understand why anyone would choose a "spring" gun over a "piston" gun...unless they just want to spend their time tinkering with a gun versus shooting it.

I am fairly new to the airgun world, and have tried out a number of rifles so far. When looking for my first air rifle, everyone pointed at the WK97.... but I thought it awfully pricey compared to a Sig ASP20..... and I ended up purchasing the Sig. The Sig is such a good gun, I wanted to get my hands on a 97 and compare the two, just to see what all the fuss over the 97 was real. Now that I've used/shot the 97, I can see where people really like it, but honestly, I have to believe that the 97 is more hype and brand snobbery than anything..... especially considering that the WK97 is TWICE the price of the Sig ASP20 (synthetic), and it is certainly NOT twice the gun. Of course they are two different guns, but for literally HALF the money of the 97, you can purchase a made in America Sig ASP20, that is every bit the rifle the 97 is, and in some areas a better one. I didn't realize just how much "brand snobbery" ruled the airgun world until I tried these two guns head to head.

great build quality and is dead on hole for hole groups..Not a china made pile of junk

My gun was low on power at 11.3 fpe in 22cal even after a 300 shot break in . Piston seal had nicks in it and had a undersized breech seal causing some blowby. I installed a new Vortek PG3 SHO kit and their VAC piston seal along with their breech seal. Cleaned and polished everything and relubed with Krytox and now gun is perfect! Shooting JSBs 15.89s at 17.9 fpe and is a super smooth and shoots one hole groups at 40yds. The trigger is close to perfect with some work and some cleaning and also some locktite on weight adjustment screw.

This gun is perfect for the tuner that will do a total R&R clean and tune. Also this gun starts to shine with a machined 200 gram piston with rear bushing mod and the PG3 kit. The safety slide spool is a JOKE ! but you will get the hang of it pretty quick. Way to heavy to haul out to woods... No joke TANK. Use ONLY Sportsmatch ring sets for a true proper fit........

I like the carbine profile and the stock design better (for me) than the HW97. The build quality was on par with other rifles of this type. Bluing is excellent and the fit and finish was top notch. The area for you to insert your pellets is nice and roomy for my big fingers to insert the .220 cal lead. I like that it shoots the different head styles across 7 different .20 pellets so far tested. There is a lot of threads on the different forums on how to work on the rifle and tune it. I found everything was well documented. The size gives you more room in a traditional rifle case for storing your favorite pellets etc. Cleaning the barrel is easy to do with the right technique. The balance of the rifle is very good. I found standing shots easy to make. Have not mounted a sling yet but like that that is an option with the positive retention of the cocking arm. The cocking effort is not too hard. I like a rifle that I can shoot all day and enjoy, this fits that bill nicely. Try one...

I find releasing the cocking arm for the next shot is easy enough, however, I find the edges of the "receiver" for the end of that cocking arm (where it snaps back into) are sharp and I have had to learn to avoid the edges both when releasing the arm as well as when returning it after cocking the arm. I would like a way to more easily remove the barrel "muzzle" end for crown work etc. I would also like to see some brass cups and allen or torx head screws for the forearm screws. I like the bear trap mechanism on the TX200. I would like to see one like that on a HW97/HW97K. New old stock: the rifle I received had a manufacturing date of 08/2018. I took it apart and found the grease was both caked on/dried as well as very sparingly applied. I realize this might be due to the oddball caliber, however, it was fun to tear down and reassembly once properly lubed. The trigger unit was bone dry and had grease in the wrong places. That to only took a good cleaning and lubrication.

I own and have owned many TX200's. I have a .22 and a .177 TX200. I will skip past the comparison of the two. Simply put they are two different rifles each with their own personality and each with their own positive attributes as well as a few negative attributes. I really like the rifle. It has good power from the factory. I do not own any testing equipment so I shoot a mounted heavy wall cow bell target at 30 yards. The .20 HW97K rings the bell just fine. I found it to be hold sensitive from the factory. The best hold for me was rested on a bag with a towel under the forearm, very slight grip to gain access to the trigger and be able to hold on target for follow through and no shoulder contact or cheek contact. When held that way in stock configuration it shot one hole groups of 10 pellets at 20 yards. Mine liked heavier pellets the best. I achieved the best accuracy from the Benjamin Cylindrical 14.3 grain and the H&N crow magnum 13.58 grain. Looking to find the right pellet.

Everything except the weight, it's heavy. But that's probably why its so easy to shoot and accurate.

I own Gamo, Crosman and other Chinese guns, several of them are good decent guns but if you only shoot springers like me save up and buy German. I now have a Diana 48, Walter Terrus, Weihrauch HW97K, and a Diana 34 on the way, and they are so much better. Nothing is free or cheap when it comes to air rifles, including scopes. Think of it this way, good Chinese rifles 20-25 yards, German rifles 40-50 yards maybe more.

Recieved. The Weihrauch HW 97 K .177 Packaged well, and in. Mint condition , Im verrrry impressed with the quality .. The large loading port. Big guy big fingers .. The checkering is verry good ,, And the button to realease the lever. I like. A lot .. Also not having to. Push another button or release to. Swing,lever back in locked position ,, things to consider ,, the anti bear trap .. Just be safe ,, and alert !! ...... I did a lot of homework befor deciding on this one .. And you get what you pay for .... I have a TX 200 MK lll .22. , on order now for field shooting .. In walnut. Considerably. More $ but. Really looking forward. To that one.. Again ..you get what you pay for .. Ben

I purchased a .22 Beeman HW97K refurb a couple of weeks ago, and have several hundred shots down the tube now. I couldn't be more impressed with an air rifle! I bought it as a companion piece to my Air Arms TX200, since the two are said to be comparable. I actually found that the -97 is slightly more accurate than the TX with a lot less effort put into making accuracy happen! That blew my mind!

Nothing, really. Some folks like walnut stocks, I would certainly pay more for that. At the current time, it's a little difficult to find a .22 -97 in the United States thru what I would consider the normal sources. One of the reasons I generally buy from PA is the phenomenal customer service, and after the sale support, and that makes me confident that they'll stand behind the products that they sell. I was fortunate to find this refurbished unit.

Like others, perhaps, I probably would have chosen a 'new' unit over a 'refurbished' unit. I know exactly what a new unit should be, not so much the refurb. But, as it turned out, the rifle I bought appeared brand new, and it looks to have been used in a trade show, according to the paperwork. I actually purchased a refurb because as I stated previously, I couldn't find a 'new' unit, although I could have gone outside of the US. Didn't wanna do that regardless of pricing. I will consider a refurb from PA in the future... Other than that, the reputation, performance, and satisfaction derived from this particular rifle has been very well documented, and I have really nothing further to add, except that I was very pleasantly surprised...it actually exceeded my expectations!

The quality and finish of this air rifle is phenomenal. I confess to not be the best shot but right out of the box shooting 3/4 in groups at 25 yards. I am extremely impressed.

Great rifle.

I have the HW97KT 4.5mm Black Line Silver. When you get your hands on it you feel the quality, like driving a BMW. When you shoot, you feel the power of this rifle resonate in your hands (some may call it a tight recoil). The Rekord trigger is amazing. Best I've ever used! I was able to put 5 pellets around an 1/4" perimeter on the first day at 20 yards. Very good at long distances too. I don't mind the automatic safety, better safe than sorry. After a while you get used to releasing the safety before aiming and shooting.

I would make the gun slightly lighter (ca 8 pounds instead of 9.3 without scope). Add a couple of slings. Offer an option for open sights.

The gun is heavy and requires some effort to cock.

Excellent looking and shooting air rifle. The fit, finish, accuracy, and smoothness of this rifle is top notch. It is shooting ragged hole groups at 20 and 40 yards with quality Ammo and quality scope.

If I could change anything it would be option of being able to put rifle back on safety after pushing safety to fire without have to shoot or recock rifle.

Ambidextrous stock was a plus for me because I am a lefty and my son is a righty. This is a gun I will pass down to him in a few years. The Hw97K is also heavy which I consider a plus for stability.

2 for the price of one would be a plus!

The gun is capable of greater accuracy than most shooters are so you will want to practice, practice, practice!

I just received an HW97K from Pyramyd Air this month (6/2018) and thought I would share some honest opinions that might help others trying to decide. First off, Pyramyd Air is an outstanding company and I really enjoy their service, website, and offerings. I've purchased a bit of everything from them and I'm always happy with the the results. My likes on the rifle are as follows. The engineering and mechanics are top notch. Accurate, great feel, great trigger, well balanced, reliable, pretty much everything you'd expect from a highly refined German rifle.

The fit and finish on this gun are where it falls short. I was not impressed with the bluing on the entire gun. It was splotchy and thin in a few spots, not many, but more than should be on an expensive rifle. I expected much better quality control from a German rifle. The inside of the trigger guard actually had blobs of sharp metal at the seam where it was stamped (not milled) and it was not even filed or sanded - just painted over and put in a box. The beech stock was also disappointing - rough spots and poor stain/varnish where you're hand rests behind the trigger. Also a very odd and uneven grain streak running through my stock towards the bottom - I would never have put this stock on an expensive rifle - it should have made the refurb bin for a seconds or replacement stock. I'm sure others have gotten better offerings and I can see the potential, but the fit and finish on this premium rifle was simply not up to par. If you are picky about appearances...be warned.

I plan on ordering a TX200 mkIII to compare the two offerings just to see whether the British can get it right on both mechanics and fit/finish. I own more than a few springers from el cheapo's to mid-grade Chinese replicas and now some premium rifles. What's sad is that I have a BAM B26-2 with a full tune on it that will come close to the accuracy of the Weihrauch (but not as pretty). Both will put pellets in a dime at 25 yards all day long. The HW97K out-shoots it at 40 yards, but not by much. The HW97K could be a really stunning rifle with a bit more attention to detail and possibly a walnut stock option. As it is currently offered, I might consider something else at this price. I'll post another review once I get the TK200 mkIII as a comparison from someone who's fussy about the details. Unfortunately I don't feel this particular rifle was properly run through a thorough QC process - perhaps my expectations are unrealistic.
