Things I liked:

very accurate.at 40 feet after x number of shots there is still only one hole in the target even with a hard triger pull. pump for target shooting or varmits.have used only pellets so far.light and super easy to pump

Things I would have changed:

triger pull . if this gun was made in metal and wood and was more money i would buy another right now for twice the price. this gun is mostly plastic.

What others should know:

dont let the plastic put you off. i do not know if they are all like this one or i received the perfect one of a lot but this thing is crazy accurate!!

Things I liked:

This is a significant step up in power from the Daisy 880 that it is based on.

Things I would have changed:

1. Accuracy - My high hopes were dashed after testing this gun with at least 20 different pellets from the likes of H+N, JSB, Air Arms, and RWS. The best I was able to do was .35 inch at 10 meters off a bench with Meisterkugeln 8.3 gr using a scope. That's not going to hunt when you're trying to hit a 1" target while leaning against a tree for support. Most Daisy products I have had were much more accurate than this. My current 880 can shoot .2" consistently with Vortex Supremes in the same circumstances. 2. With greater power comes greater pumping effort, a heavier trigger pull, and more noise. The Daisy 880 is a breeze to pump up to full power for an average sized 45 year old man. The 1977xs feels about the same up to 6 pumps and gets much harder after that. The trigger pull is noticeably heavier and the report is probably not backyard friendly at 10 pumps. I live in the sticks so it didn't matter.

What others should know:

If you have dreamed of a Daisy 880-like gun with a lot more power, this is for you, I guess. I was hoping for 880-like accuracy with greater range. Maybe I got a bad barrel, or maybe the 880 platform just doesn't accommodate that much more power without losing the attributes that 880 fans love.

    Things I liked:

this gun is fun for plinking or small pest control. plenty powerful and very accurate straight out of box with open sights.

    Things I would have changed:

scope that comes with it is not worth messing with. would recommend better scope.

    What others should know:

i would recommend with no problem. it is powerful and accurate.

    Things I liked:

Lightweight & handles great. Very accurate open sights: I can get accuracy from the this as good as that from any other air rifle I own. Easy pumping, but very powerful. Easier to load than nearly any other pumper I own. It's nicer than any of my other .177 pumpers -- I have most of the currently available popular .177 caliber variable pump pneumatic air rifles (Crosman 2100 & 1000, Umarex APX NXG, Barra Sportsman 900, Daisy (5)880 and this) and the 1977xs is far and away my favorite. This is probably the only .177 caliber pumper anyone would ever need: I've been crazy about it since my original purchase, but the new, much higher price bothers me -- when I bought mine not even a year ago, it was closer to $50.00 than the nearly $100.00 of today and given the quality, power, accuracy and utility I'm getting now from my spankin' new Crosman 362, which is selling for the EXACT SAME PRICE, this small caliber, otherwise exceptionally nice air rifle is over-priced.

    Things I would have changed:

Lower price! When I bought mine last year, a cheap, but basically working scope also came with it, yet it pumped much easier, shot as powerfully (with greater accuracy), loaded easier and cost less than my Crosman 1000 Legacy (with its pretty horrible scope). I found the Winchester 77xs to be just as powerful, more accurate and overall a better buy than not only the Crosman Legacy 1000, but any other .177 caliber pumper I've purchased since. There's really nothing wrong with this excellent plinker, small game hunter and target shooter -- it really is worth the money, even at the price today and easily remains my absolute favorite .177 caliber variable pump pneumatic air rifle.

    What others should know:

I love the open sights (essentially the same as those on Daisy 880 models) and can shoot this air rifle with exceptional accuracy. The Winchester 1977xs is just about perfect for shorter distance shooting: indoors, plinking and up close and personal encounters with small critters out in the wilderness (or on the front & back porches). If you would prefer to have only one small caliber variable pumper that's super easy-to-charge, accurate, yet basically is as powerful as any other pumper now available in this caliber, this is an excellent choice. It also would be a great first rifle for any mature youth, yet it's nice enough for more experienced youths of advanced age, like me. ;-) If money is tight and you aren't interested in collecting a whole passel of air rifles (unlike me), the new .22 caliber Crosman C362 variable pumper offers far more value and utility for exactly the same amount of money. Me? I like having both (and more besides) :-)

    Things I liked:

I wanted a gun that could shoot pellets. I wanted to not be dependent on CO2. It is an easy to use pump gun. If you stay at 6 or less you are subsonic. If you do higher you can, depending on pellet weight, go supersonic. I wanted a quiet back yard plinker so I usually pump 5 times. It has a cheap scope that works, donT drop it. For as well as I can shoot unsupported, it is fine. I got this for plonking. I also use this to practice target acquisition using the BINDON concept (keep both eyes open) - this lets you scan for the target with both eyes open and you train your eye to see out of your dominant one the see the target in the scope before you shoot. Nice during this ammo shortage. For plonking and BINDON practice, this is fine.

    Things I would have changed:

You could always upgrade the scope, I am not varmenting so why?

    What others should know:

I am old with a lot of wobble so it is hard to judge aura you as most errors are me.

    Things I liked:

I have used the air rifle for a month now and everything is working as expected. I was looking for an air gun that I could pump up to not have to deal with cylinders. I was looking for one that had a scope and that could take down rabbits. With some adjustments on the scope I can consistently get within an inch of a target at 30 yards. I haven't felt the need to pump the gun more than 7 times. It is a little fiddley to get a single shot loaded but have gotten use to it now. I can't really speak for the accuracy or overall quality as I have no prier experience with guns of any type or shooting but everything seems good to me.

    Things I liked:

Precision made. Easy to use. Consistent firing. Lightweight. Comfortable to hold. The bore rifling makes for a very accurate air rifle. Very versatile. I can fire a pellet at a variety of speeds by giving the rifle from 2 to 10 pumps. Past about 6 pumps, the pellet goes super-sonic and the penetration is excellent. But for stealth, anything below 6 pumps makes much less noise. The rifle looks good.

    Things I would have changed:

I would have made the pump lever of metal or metal-reinforced plastic and possibly have upgraded the scope. The scope isn't bad, but it could be better. I would also have made at least a five-round clip for pellets. Loading single pellets is a little tricky.

    What others should know:

Great plinking air rifle and terrific for taking down small rodents, such as rabbits, tree squirrels, ground squirrels, moles, mice, rats and even larger pests like groundhogs, raccoons and such. A head shot takes down tree squirrels instantly. I gave the rifle 6 pumps, used a brass-tipped pellet and shot straight through a squirrel's heart at about 30 feet. I was surprised when I saw the exit wound! I haven't shot at a groundhog yet, but I have no doubt that a head shot would take one down. Otherwise, I also have no doubt that a heart shot would penetrate far enough to do the job as well. Despite the price, this is a pretty serious air rifle.

    Things I would have changed:

I haven't used it enough to form an opinion of changes to make.

    What others should know:

So far an excellent value for the money.

    Things I liked:

This multi-pump offering from Daisy, wearing the Winchester brand name, is a "keeper"! I've had more air rifles than any one man deserves ever since I was 8 years old. This Winchester by Daisy is the most accurate, consistent air rifle possible. With good pellets it makes one ragged hole in the bullseye from 15 meters. BB's of course are rather like black-powder ball compared to black-powder cast; less accurate than pellets (pellets grab the barrel rifling for a stabilizing spin) but still a small game getter. Some folks don't like the 'scope that comes with it, but mine can't be beat.

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing. The pellets load singly; just roll them into the chamber with one finger, close the bolt, and give them whatever amount of air pumps (1-10) you need. BB's have a compartment that holds 50 or so, and they load individually by themselves when you open and close the bolt. The noise this piece makes is exceptionally acceptable. Simply a "snap", like a dry twig being broken. The price is excellent for this quality of air rifle. The accuracy and velocity is acceptable for any purpose that I might engage in.

    What others should know:

I prefer the multi-pump or single-pump lever-action air rifles. That way I don't have to mess with CO2 cartridges or PCP gear. There is a map-link here at Pyramid that will explain your State's wildlife air rifle regulations.

    Things I liked:

I like over all gun good feel and pretty accurate.

    Things I would have changed:

The pump handle THREE things. One should be made of metal seems to flex as it is pumped and Two has a lever catch that makes it stick closed between each pump, and last but not least the handle is small I can hardly get my fingers in it. Loading pellets is difficult it says its an adults gun but pellet port is tiny I have to get my grandson to load it, I could barely do it before I put scope on it now there is no way.

    What others should know:

Seems to be a good gun but if you have big hands might want to look at other guns. Its great for kids so I will be giving this to grandson and looking for something that fits a big man.

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

Under $100 dollars, including a decent scope. Multi pump, variable power, and zero recoil, no special hold required to be accurate. Simply aim and shoot, hold it however you want. And use any scope you want, does not require a special airgun scope like the springers do. Also very accurate with pellets, and very good power, definitely enough to take down small pest animals such as starlings, pidgeons, squirrels, rats, and snakes. There are very few air rifles at this price point that can do as much as this rifle can. This is an all weather airgun, no worries about getting wood wet or scratched, or blued steel rusted, as there are none of these materials on this rifle. The plastics are solid and of a tough compound. Internals are of the old daisy 880 design and that is well proven over the past 40 years. Also parts are available and easy to do a rebuild if necessary. No special tools needed. Cheap gun? Yes. But it does what it was designed to do.

    Things I would have changed:

A metal pump handle would be nice, but the plastic one works fine and does not flex, and pumping it is very easy and won't wear you out. Also the pellet loading port is a pain, it takes practice to load.

    What others should know:

This rifle is MUCH easier to shoot accurately than a break barrel springer. However, it is more difficult to load a pellet. Overall I would say this is a very good value for what you get , and it looks pretty cool too.

Really a great value for the money. The gun looks great and shoots very well. It's easy to load BBs and the internal storage is excellent.

    Things I would have changed:

The scope is pretty weak (which was my main draw to this gun), my eye piece has the cross off center and I'm not sure how to change it.

    What others should know:

For beginners (like me), it's very difficult to "sign in" the scope. I wish the scope was mounted and "sighted" from the factory.

    Things I liked:

Yes it is a Daisy 880, but it has better scope and a nicer stock. Have had mine for 5 years and still shooting like new. Usually shoot with 8 pumps, very good accuracy with RWS hollows points or Basics.

    Things I would have changed:

    Not a thing!

    What others should know:

Put a 3x9 scope on mine now I can shoot well ay 20 yards.

    Things I would have changed:

The scope that comes with this rifle is not the greatest. I'm shooting at close range (under 50 ft) and the ability to focus the scope would be useful.

    What others should know:

A great starter rifle for kids and adults that are looking for some simple fun. Sighting in the scope is a bit of challenge.
