The owner's manual states that the .25-caliber rifle delivers 950 fps. That's a misprint. The max is 900 fps.

    • Benjamin Trail NP (Nitro Piston) XL Air Rifle
    • Breakbarrel
    • Gas piston
    • Bull barrel
    • Ambidextrous stock with twin cheekpieces
    • Textured grip & forearm
    • 70% quieter than most other breakbarrels!
    • Includes unmounted CenterPoint Optics 3-9x40AO scope
    • Sling swivel studs already mounted
    • Hardwood stock
    • 9.70 lbs. with included scope & mount; 8.50 lbs. for just the gun (we've found that the weight can vary as much as 8 oz. due to fluctuations in wood densities)

The video on this page states it comes with a sling. It does not come with one.

If you shoot a lightweight pellet so its velocity exceeds the speed of sound, it could result in your pellet breaking the sound barrier and the gun being louder than expected! The speed of sound depends on humidity, temperature and altitude. Generally speaking, it's between 1,060 fps and 1,115 fps.

Here are the benefits of the Crosman Nitro Piston:
    • Smoother cocking
    • Smoother shooting
    • No spring torque
    • No spring fatigue, even if you leave it cocked for hours
    • Functions perfectly in cold weather
    • Lasts longer than a metal spring

This Trail NP XL rifle features an ambidextrous hardwood thumbhole stock. In .177 caliber, this rugged breakbarrel boasts an impressive 24 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, providing a velocity up to 1500 fps.

Things I liked:It has power, it's accurate and it's reliable. Well made. I got this one in .22. Probably the best choice all-around. I also have it in .177, which is nice (flat shooting with 8-10 g pellets). I'm using JSBs 18.1 g and Polymags for my .22. I put a REDFIELD Revenge scope on for quick acquisition, also since the pellets I use have a difference of 2 grains.
Things I would have changed:Nothing but keep the model and up the power. Maybe make a carbine model or a scout model for marauding and discretely dispatching pests. This gun separates the boys from the men.
What others should know:This probably would take down a wolverine (gulo-gulo) confidently, but nothing I would want to contest to. THERE's SO MANY REVIEWS, NUMBERS SO MUCH INCREASED. Love the baffle. This is a hunting (sniper's) rifle with practicality. Take down power in the .22. My .177 just doesn't drop as much. Both awesome calibers, but my new .22 you can't go wrong in they caliber for air rifles.

Things I liked:The rifle is great! Hits hard and is accurate with a little bit of practice! I'm on to about 250 shots and i can see it is shaping up nicely. About quarter sized groups at 30yd and I'mm not past the 500 pellet break in point yet.
Things I would have changed:The scope!!! The scope that came with this is garbage!! Maybe I got a fluke and mine is bad but the scope worked perfect until about 100 shots and then the cross hairs started to rotate clockwise after every shot.
What others should know:The scope is fine if you are lucky enough to get one that works. Mine was a hunk of junk.

Has anyone tried this rifle in .177? I would like to know how the accurracy is in .177.

        • terry from USA:

I have it in .177. This gun will allow to shoot standing, hitting pop cans at 60 yards consistently. It is accurate. Don't shoot standard grain, but don't take my word for it. It's nice to hear an air rifle, and this is a rifle, break the sound barrier (standard grain or less only). Standards don't seem to be one bit accurate. I shoot H&N barracudas (9.57; 10.65; 10.34). All accurate. I prize JSB's Monsters 13.4, but they take patience to learn to shoot. Polymag is a great round. All of these rounds I use. All deadly. I have different rounds for different distances for different critters. The accuracy this gun has to offer attests to the name of the brand of this rifle, given by the word of God: Genesis 49:27. You feed this rifle good heavy rounds, you'll sow what you can reap.
