| The Spring Master 795 is a breakbarrel spring-piston rifle with a heavy-duty spring that will deliver years of good service and consistent, reliable accuracy. This easy-cocking rifle is made in America and features a black synthetic stock and a rifled steel barrel. The micro-adjustable rear sight and the blade and ramp front sight make it easy to quickly acquire targets, and the checkered grip and forearm give you extra control. Things I would have changed:Poor barrel lockup, stiff trigger, harsh firing cycle, flimsy rear sight. What others should know:The barrel lockup on a breakbarrel rifle is extremely important, the one on this gun is pathetic. Granted, it's not as disastrous as it would be on a more powerful gun - but because of it (I believe) the rifle isn't as accurate as it could be. Still, it's a step up over a Red Ryder, and the cocking effort is super light considering the reasonable "kid-gun" power of about 5 ft-lbs. The trigger is also rather crude and stiff, and the spring "gongs" when the gun is fired. Fortunately, this rifle is super easy to tear down, and some heavy grease on the spring will improve the firing behavior (the compression doesn't seem to be enough to initiate dieselling). Overall, it would be a decent rifle at the price if the barrel lockup was better, or if the price was significantly less. Regardless, as I said, it's still a passable step up from a BB gun... more power and accuracy, and very easy for a kid to operate.
Things I would have changed:The Plastic Rear windage sight, half the time you turn the plastic screw it pops the top of the sight out of line. this thing is a joke, seriously, give me a break... this is a throw away piece of junk sight. What others should know:Rip the plastic parts off and use only the front sight and learn how the gun shoots and correct for it. Don't even think about putting a scope on a spring air rifle unless it is a specially made for spring guns these guns EAT scopes. As an old school air rifle its great, except for the plastic rear sight.
