Field target, hunting, punching paper targets, shooting spinners and plinking are all perfect for the Talon SS...because it does everything so well! The easy-to-use power-adjust wheel takes your rifle from 400 fps to 1000 fps. You decide how much power you want and when you want it. If you're shooting field target...dial it down. Hunting...dial it up.
From its Lothar Walther barrel (1:16 twist) to its removable air tank, the Talon SS is the standard for state-of-the-art manufacturing of pre-charged pneumatics. Made of space-age polymers and aircraft-grade aluminum, the AirForce Talon SS is lightweight and equipped with a durable finish.
The removable 490cc air tank (DOT-certified) can be filled with a hand pump, scuba tank or electric compressor to 3000 psi (206 bar) for lots of shots without a refill. The tank does double-duty as the butt of the gun, contributing to its light weight and convenience. The tank has a pressure-release valve for additional safety.
Not sure which caliber to get? Get both! Extra barrels are available, and change-outs are quick and easy and don't require any special tools.
The Talon SS is the same basic rifle as the Talon, but an integral suppressor and a 12" barrel are standard. The shorter barrel makes it slightly lighter than the Talon, and the integral suppressor seriously reduces the report.
There are lots of ways to configure this gun, including rail-mounted accessories (coin-slot screws for each changeout). You can choose the laser, flashlight, night vision equipment, extra tanks, quick-detach fiber-optic sights and attachments for the type of refilling unit you plan to use. If you replace the barrel with a longer one, the gun will not be silenced.

Things I would have changed:So minor, I won't mention. Air Force pretty much thought of everything you might want to add, and Pyramid is more than happy to make the additions reasonable and available. I ordered the first SS with the Air Force 4X16. A great scope. Somewhat of an "overkill" for the .22. I mounted it on the .177 and mounted a 3X9 Leapers on the .22. PERFECT!!!. Cloverleafs at 35 yds. What others should know:I also purchased a Condor. 24 in. .177 barrel and .22, 18 in. barrel. A great long distance, powerful air rifle, but LOUD. I, just after a year, submitted a review on the Condor. The review "morphed" into a review of the Talon SS, (which I consider to be the best air rifle ever designed). Quiet, powerful (enough) and did I mention amazingly accurate? I think the guys at Pyramid can use my Condor review to support my endorsement of the Condor SS.

Its compact which is another nice feature for me since I wanted something small. The trigger is a 500% improvement over every single spring gun I own. The accessory rails are nice because I added a light/laser combo and it was super easy. Its quiet. I also own a GAMO whisper and this is definately quieter and with some simple modifications its goes a LOT quieter. Speed is excellent, with semi-heavy pellets it will kill small rodents at 40 yrds (since accuracy is so good you can cleanly shoot for the head) The instructional DVD is a nice feature. No recoil at all which was key because I am using this as practice for larger caliber powder firearms. Neighbors will never know what that sound is. The 4-16 scope is very sharp, accurate, easily installed and hasn't moved since I got it (a typical problem with spring scopes) Things I would have changed:I would include some sort of buttstock extension that can be added to tank for taller people. I shoot a lot of powder firearms and I'm used to adding spacers to the butt pads but with this gun being so short, it would be nice if they included a few lightweight spacers that would allow users to tailor the LOP. I'm currently working on a home made version for myself. What others should know:A good practice powder rifle gun since the trigger is crisp. Deadly accurate. SCUBA refill is by far the best way to go. Worth every penny. Definately get the high rings (or medium if you order the tri-rail) because you will likely need the extra room so your eye lines up well every time.

I have Pyr's chrony showing10 shots with 11.8 grain 22 caliber pellet at approximately 800fps. So, I'm very happy about the out-of-the-box power. I'm not sure how this gun will do beyond 20 yards

I'm not sure how this gun will do beyond 20 yards...my rating on accuracy is up to 20 yards. From what I've been seeing on youtube and from other users this gun should be placing 1" groups at 30 yards without a problem. The muzzle report is not too loud thanks to the built-in shroud. Built-in 11 mm dovetail for the top rail.
Versatility and the fact that there are MANY aftermarket sources for parts and tuning upgrades. General aesthetics and design of the gun are very exciting to me. Things I would have changed:The safety catch seems and feels mechanically cheap. I do like the general presence of a two-stage trigger (but I can feel the spring through the trigger on the 1st and 2nd stage) so that could be improved a bit as well. The trigger guard, cocking lever and rear butt are a little on the cheap side in regards to materials used but all of it can easily be replaced/upgraded...and in my opinion the aftermarket parts are NOT expensive and readily available. What others should know:Great value for the $$ spent. This gun can be easily modified in several different ways from buying a longer barrel (increase velocity) to smoothing the operation and polishing the valve (lots of aftermarket tuners out there). A versatile and unique gun made in the USA.
You can easily use a CO2 air source with this gun and have 10x (ten times) more shots available over compressed air.
