H&N Baracuda Magnum pellets represent a slight change in the typical domed pellet sold up to now. The top of the dome isn't there, having been replaced by a flat surface.
The manufacturer suggests this pellet is best used by powerful/magnum air rifles and in hunting situations. Futhermore, they state it has limited use in some breakbarrel rifles and may not be suitable for all of them.
Besides the interesting treatment of the head, H&N made the Baracuda Magnum with a special alloy that delivers consistent shot spreads and the lowest rate of lead fouling.

Things I liked: This is a well made and uniform pellet.
Things I would have changed: The pellet may not be at fault. It simply will not work in the Benjamin Discovery rifle with the standard 1 in 10" twist rifling of its barrel.
What others should know: This rifle was fitted with the standard barrel and also a Lothar-Walther Match barrel of 1 in 12" rifling. Neither of these would stabilize this pellet. There were no groups formed, just wild flyers in every direction. Both barrels were accurate with numerous other pellets, and the match barrel would put almost anything into less than 1/2" (some a lot less) with the same impact point of nearly a dozen different pellets. The point is, the gun and barrel demonstrated wonderful accuracy and consistent pellet placement regardless of the ammo in most cases. This heavy and long offering from H&N however, was too long for the twist rate of either barrel. (The heavier but much shorter Eun Jin 16.3g gave 3/8" 5-shot groups at 25 yards.)
Things I liked: Well made and no deformities in the entire tin.
Things I would have changed: Nothing.
What others should know: I bought the to see how a Benjamin 397p would handle them. Not very well. 1/2 in. groups @ 12 yards. 6-8 in. groups @ 30 yards. I bet this pellet would perform well in a PCP. It is a long pellet.
Things I liked: These did wonders for my Gamo Bull Whisper Extreme. I bought that rifle when I thought velocity was the most important factor in choosing an air gun. I have since learned different but it meant that my Gamo just pretty much sat in the closet with nothing to do, until I bought these pellets. They really tame the velocity back and boy to they hit with authority! Squirrels are no match for these pellets in my Bull Whisper. I really couldn't be much happier with these pellets.
Things I would have changed: SCREW ON LID!
What others should know: There is not screw on lid soooo.... You have been warned.
Anyone try this pellet in a gamo bone collector yet?in trying to slow the fps and get some kind of accuracy out of this gun.
Anyone have experience with these? Are they too long to be stable in standard airgun rifling? Does anyone have velocity #'s from springers, and if so what's the power drop compared to lighter pellets like 10.5, 8 etc. I wanted to try them for fun but not if they sputter out at 500fps...
You can definitely use these in spring-piston or gas-piston guns. Each gun has its likes and dislikes. Test various pellets to determine which pellets give you the optimum combination of velocity, energy and accuracy.
I was considering it for an rws 350 which I use jsb 10.34 at min, but prefer jsb 13.43. I know I'll lose a bit of muzzle energy with the weight, and friction, but consider it worth a try as long as I know the twist required to stabilize it. Reviews look good, mostly, but bad ones I wonder if it was twist. Anyone have input?
These pellets are way to heavy for a springer or nitro piston. Their only good in pneumatic airguns. 10.65 is the heaviest you can use.
