This pistol looks and feels like a firearm and not a department store toy. This is not an inexpensive pistol, but it is an excellent value for the money! There is no reason this will not last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance. Things I would have changed:This pistol should come equipped with fully adjustable sights instead of the fixed front and drift adjustable rear sight. What others should know:Out of the box, the rear sight and barrel weight were loose. I attribute this to vibration and/or thermal cycling during shipping. I used the included hex wrenches to tighten both the sight and barrel weight and they have remained tight ever since.
This pistol shot well and grouped well, but the rear sight was much too short and the pistol grouped about 2 inches low at 25 feet. I installed the optional Walther adjustable sight package and was able to dial in the elevation properly. I highly recommend installing the adjustable sights to get the most out of this pistol.

The rotery 8 shot clip is easily placed into the slide opening that is released with a side lever, then simply cocked by pushing the barrel back into place. The CO2 is very easy to load by releasing the left side plastic grip cover, rotating down the simulated magazine lever, and placing the CO2 into it's compartment, followed by rotating the mag lever back up into place. The double action trigger pull is long but easily cocking the hammer back will provide a smooth single action. Things I would have changed:Really nothing, the pistol is great What others should know:The CP88 is scopeable by replacing the rear adjustable sight with a Walther Combi rail. This rail is plastic but strong and allows for 11 mm dovetail or weaver style mounts from any scope. I chose the Leaper red/grn DOT scope with a 11mm dovetail mount that works perfect and delivers pinpoint accuracy at 30 or 40 feet. I have several air guns and this is my best and most accurate shooter. I can get about 8 clips of strong shots before the pettets start to drop. The only problem with this gun is that it makes my lesser priced guns stay in their cabinet.

The accuracy is outstanding at 30 meters and more. The double action is smooth and just pull back the hammer and single action is just a touch of your finger. The CO2 is easy and quick to install and will give you about 10 clips of accurate shots. I like the slide release lever for easy reload of the 8 round rotery clips. This pistol is scopeable with their combi-rail, see below. Things I would have changed:I have fired over 500 pellets and can't think of a thing I would change. What others should know:As I have said this air gun is awesome and you will not regret the purchase. I also purchased the Walther Combi-rail that replaces the rear adjustable sight that will allow you to mount a BSA 2X mag scope or Dot sight. I chose the UTG 11mm dovetail red/green DOT scope and was amazed at the consistent accuracy. My problem is I need reader glasses and have a difficult time with focusing the iron sights and the target at 30 meters. The DOT scope eliminates this depth perception problem and allows for perfect vision for me. The combi-rail mounts dovetail or weaver rail scopes. Buy the gun, scope or both and you will thank me. PS, leave the back yard birds alone!

It is a beutiful replica, it shoots well, no pellet jams at all. It took less than 3 minutes to adjust the rear sight a little to the left. Things I would have changed:A little more power. What others should know:This beauty needs a short break- in. I am testing different pellets brands, including RWS-R-10, Gamo Gold Raptors, H&N Sport (7.56gr.), and RWS-Super domes (8.3gr.). The R-10's do a nice job, as well as the H&N's. Don't use cheap pellets. Stick to the manual instructions/recomendations, very much in particular for the Co2 installation. Always put a drop of pellgun oil at the top of each CO2 canister. With an average temperature of 85 degrees, I am getting good 50 shots.

I haven't held the real thing, but everything that I have read online suggests that the two are very difficult to tell apart. (The real P88 Competition costs around $3,000!) It is, by far, the best made gun that I own. The only plastic pieces on this gun are the grips (and you can get those in wood if you prefer for a bit more $$$). The accuracy on this gun is also truly outstanding due to the 6 inch barrel. At 10 yds, I usually get 8-shot groups of less than one inch. Overall a very, very accurate pistol and a lot of fun for target practice. This gun is a testament to German design and workmanship. Things I would have changed:Perhaps the price, but if you want quality, I guess you have to pay for it. I also find the quality of the box that it comes in a little disappointing considering the price. The gun itself is stunning and I would not change a thing. What others should know:This Walther classic is more expensive than other Umarex pistols, but it is definitely worth the money. I consider the CP88 Competition an investment that will be passed on to my sons. Overall, highly, highly recommended!

I get 64 strong shots per 12g CO2 powerlet. Gun case that is included is very handy as you can keep all your things you need to shoot in it. Things I would have changed:Trigger is a long pull. Could use an adjustable trigger. Would like rubberized grips better than the plastic ones even though the plastic grips are high quality. What others should know:Keep the barrel clean! I seems to get less accurate fast as the barrel dirties up.I've been cleaning it after every 256 shots.I recommend the reloader and having at least 2 more packs of mags. 3 mags come in a pack and the reloader loads 7 mags. I plan on getting 2 more packs of mags so I'll have 14 mags so while I'm shooting my bud can relod and vice versa. This thig is a pellet eater. Shot 1500 rounds first day out! Last thing best pellets are RWS Diabolo Basic because of quality and price at less than 1cent a shot.

Like the extra barrel length of this model and the way the co2 fits completely inside the grip without having a screw on the bot. exterior of the grip frame, keeping the look more authentic. Accuracy is good once you get used to the stiff trigger. In warm weather I get around 80 shots before the velocity is noticibly down, pretty good. I have been using this gun for a little over a year, firing around 1000 rounds and have not had a single magazine indexing problem or pellet jamb. It's not cheap, but it is reliable, accurate and very well made. Things I would have changed:Because this is a pretty close match to the firearm there isn't a good way to mount a red dot scope or laser. PA does sell a scope mount that slides into the rear sight slot (you have to remove the rear sight), however after trying it I can't recomend it. It is all plastic and just not sturdy enough. The trigger is on the stiff side, esp. in dbl. action where the pull is much longer but the pull is very consistent from shot to shot and you do get used to it. The front sight is not removeable on this model (it may be on the 4" barrel version, not sure), would be nice if both sights were replaceable with good fiber optic sights. What others should know:I was able to mount an inexpensive Daisy laser sight to the front of the trigger guard with the remote switch stuck on the grip. I have just enough room to get my finger on the trigger without hitting the back of the laser mount. Although useless in bright sunlight, in shaded shooting areas or indoors I find it works pretty good. I can shoot better with it than with the standard iron sights. Just have to be careful not to bump it around too much.

It also gets shipped to you in a nice case that holds its accessories. Things I would have changed:Can't think of anything. I would have given a 5 for accuracy except for the trigger. Your own skill level will determine how accurate this pistol is. What others should know:After briefing myself with the manual on operation of this pistol, I loaded it up and fired 40 shots there was plenty of gas left in the cylinder. I only made one minor correction for windage. The pistol itself shot point of aim for elevation out of the box. The sights are pretty much what you would see on a service pistol (M9/92F) and the trigger is a little stiff.
