So here's the video footage from my visit to KWA last week. Mike Hou takes us through the many features of their newest prototypes for the KWA HK45 gas blowback pistol, RM4A1 Electric Recoil Gun (ERG) and also gives us a quick update on their LM4 Magpul edition. Oh yea, that sexy lil' KWA ATP makes a cameo in there as well.

Dang, it feels good to be a gangster.

I didn't quite have all the stars in alignment for me on Saturday so that I could update the blog during the ACA Expo, but here are some shots of the event for your viewing pleasure.

Mike from KWA giving my brother, Todd, the low-down on the new KWA guns like the HK45 Gas Blowback Pistol I recently featured on the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog. For those of you that are wondering, Todd is, in fact, wearing a set of TDU Ripstop Pants with custom embroidery from 5.11 Tactical Series and a Voodoo Tactical Assault Shirt. And even though he knows he looks good, he doesn't mind when other people tell him so.
The local Police Explorer Program had a booth set up.
Chronic Tacos provided some "Scrumtralescent" carne asada tacos with lime, and Hooters was also out serving up their famous chicken wings as part of the free lunch.
The Airsoft League is a tactical skills-based target-shooting competition.
There was a shooting range available for attendees to test out some of the new guns from vendors like KWA and Elite Force.
Speaking of Elite Force, Cliff and Andy took a tiny little road trip from Umarex/Elite Force headquarters in Arkansas to show off their latest and greatest Airsoft AEGs at the event.
Two of their shining stars among the new Elite Force Competition Series are the M4 CQB and M4 Carbine from ARES.
Did you know that the Elite Force M4 CQB features an integrated RIS and comes with the stubby foregrip? Oh you didn't!!?? Well, you do now.
Just a little close-up of the new logo of the Elite Foce trades on the receiver.
Elite Force also has a new, standard-length carbine rifle as well for more of that classic look.
Here's something exciting for the G36 fans out there: two new G36 options from Elite Force and Ares in tan and black.

Where all the madness went down on Saturday: Insight Interactive Airsoft CQB Arena.
Watch out for flying shirts. Tons of raffle prizes were giving out from Pyramyd Air, 5.11 Tactical Series, Elite Force, Voodoo Tactical, KWA and many more.

There was a full video production crew on hand with some high end gear recording all the action of the intense ACA games.

Lumix Camera on a big ol' jib provided some sweet arial footage of the action.

Canon 7D

Canon 5D MkII

Here are a few shots of Insight Interactive's field layout specially designed for the ACA tournament.

The day ended with a raffle and many Airsoft players going home happy with some sweet prizes, like $100 Gift Card to Pyramyd Air

Here's our winner, coming up to collect his prize.

Smiling cuz he knows he's 'bout to score some sweet Airsoft loot from Pyramyd Air.

If I were this dude, I'd be pretty stoked to win a Multicam RUSH 12 backpack from 5.11 Tactical as well.

While the competition portion of day had its rough patches, most of that can be chalked up to this being the first event of its kind on such a large-scale production level, so I think many of those issues can be smoothed out for future events. Overall, I was highly impressed with what the event organizers had in mind and after some fine-tuning of things, I wouldn't hesitate to participate in this event again. The event organizers are more than welcome to contact me at their leisure to receive a more detailed level of constructive feedback, should they so desire it.

Highlights from the tournament included Team 5.11 Tactical taking 3rd Place in the tournament despite yours truly going down in the first game of the day with a pretty awesome case of heat exhaustion. Temperatures reached 107 degrees Fahrenheit in our area and I haven't been exactly living an active lifestyle over the last few weeks because of a few major life transitions taking up my exercise time to prepare for those things. In short, I'm kind of a fatty right now. Anyway, there were lots of vendors showing off tons of cool new Airsoft guns and gear and I got to spend some time chatting with Cliff and Andy from Elite Force, who gave me the scoop on exciting new things coming up from them, PLUS there was free game play open to the public throughout the event, so I got to see and meet a lot of new faces who love to play Airsoft as well. All-in-all, it was a good day and an exciting glimpse of what may be in store for the the future of competitive Airsoft. I give tremendously mad props to David Karstens (ACA Director) and Jonathon Nicastro (Owner of Insight Interactive) for all their hard work in putting the event together and I hope they realize that their efforts did not go unnoticed by this lil' ol' Airsoft blogger.

Till next time, I will leave you with this parting word, said in a whisper voice...

I'm getting my wrecking tools ready to...well...wreck at tomorrow's Association of Competitive Airsoft Expo at the Insight Interactive Airsoft CQB Facility, located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA (Southern California Airsoft CQB Facility).

I know what you're thinking.  You probably saw the title of the blog or a photo somewhere else linking to this post and were excited to see a new Airsoft prototype from KWA, but then upon your arrival to the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog, you saw that I said, "FIRST" like all those idiots on Facebook & YouTube do and then you were like, "Damnit, Tom. I hate you now."  Well, to those of you who felt this way upon your arrival, I do sincerely apologize, but if you were the first one in the world outside of KWA themselves to get access with camera to the uber-sexy new licensed Heckler & Koch HK45 gas blowback pistol, you'd also probably want to rub it in a bit and/or do something out of your ordinary character because of the outright win that you've just accomplished.  Sorry, bro.  But sometimes you gotta toot your own horn.  I promise not to make it a habit.  But I was excited. The HK45 is amazing and I wanted to shout about it from a mountain top.  Instead, I yelled, "FIRST!" like a child.  If you're willing to forgive me on this one (or even if you're not), go ahead and click the link below to check out the smorgasbord of KWA HK45 pics I've uploaded.  I've also got some particulars about the gun's features for you as well.  There may or may not be a video that I'll be adding in the next few days as well, depending on the alignment of the astronomical clock and all that happy horse stuff.

Please keep in mind that the following images are of a prototype and that some features pictured here today could change by the time it ends up available for sale to the public.  So don't get too excited about anything too specific on the gun just yet.  Disappointment is lame, so I don't want to set you up for it without a fair warning.

So I was asked to check out the Gameface AK-47 Airsoft AEG and then provide my honest thoughts, which can be a very dangerous thing to do with me because I usually have no issues about cutting the crap and giving a no-B.S.* Assessment. *By "B.S.," I of course mean Bologna Sandwich. I prefer Roast Beef Sandwiches.

Also, a message to the trolls: neither Pyramyd Air, Dave Bakholdin, nor Tom Harris Media condones the consumption of alcohol before or during the operation of weapons, whether they be Airsoft or actual firearms.  That would be poor decision-making on both our part for condoning it and on yours for doing it.  The Russian flask was simply used as a prop because it looks flippin' awesome under studio lighting and went along with the theme of the famous Russian assault rifle replica featured here on the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog

Update - I Love Airsoft.

I decided that I like writing the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog more than I like auditing cash & investments, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued payroll or testing internal controls for various California municipalities as well as private-sector entities. Therefore, here is a little taste of things to come here on the blog (please excuse my "idiot face").

SB 798 Rearing Its Ugly Head

Back by unpopular demand is CA SB 798, although it never truly went away, just took a breather to recharge it's batteries and then get back in the fight. The anti-Airsoft legislation that Senator Kevin de Leon has brought upon us is back because he feels there are no other more pressing matters that he might be able to address with his resources and political influence, like say...I don't know...maybe...just off the topic of my head...the California budget crisis and how it has effected our public school system, placing thousands of teachers of out jobs, closing schools, increasing class sizes which in turn limits the amount of one-on-one time that a teacher is able to devote to each student to address individual needs, etc, etc, etc. That's a pretty lame issue of no importance, right, Senator? Who cares about education or kids? I suppose it makes sense though. Why would someone like Senator de Leon want to encourage resolving our education system when it's likely that once our children (aka "Tomorrow's Voters") or technically someone of any age gain a decent level of knowledge and understanding, it's likely they'd be able to see the wool he's trying to pull over our eyes.

Check out the latest update on SB 798 as of Thursday, August 11, 2011 after the jump...

KWA AK-74 Airsoft Gas Blowback & Kinetic Feedback Rifle Prototypes

New for 2011: The KWA AK-74 (AKG-74M) Airsoft Gas Blowback Rifle.

Happy Monday. Today, I've got some more pics of the upcoming KWA AK-74 series Airsoft blowback rifles. In case you missed my Shot Show 2011 write-up on these particular beauties, I'll recap a few things for you.

There are three models currently in the works:
  -  One Airsoft gas blowback rifle, AKG-74M (standard length*)
  -  Two electric blowback rifles, the AKR-74M (standard length*) & AKR-74SU (CQB), each utilizing a new, "Kinetic Feedback System" for an enhanced recoil effect.

One interesting feature of KWA's new Kinetic Feedback rifles is the electric cut-off, which activates once the last BB is fed from the gun's magazine.  Enhance realism...Enhanced winning.

*The AKG-74M (Gas Blowback) and the AKR-74M (Kinetic Feedback Recoil System) rifles are essentially the same, externally-speaking.  In the photogallery I've included after the jump, you'll notice I've combined my descriptions for these two rifles because of that fact.  There was no point in shooting the same design twice since we were only allowed to photograph the externals this time around.  There is still some super secret squirrel stuff going on over at KWA with these guns, so they weren't too keen on us leaking classified internals intel for the time being.

Check out the KWA AK-74 Photogallery after the Jump (or don't.  See if I care).
P.S.  I do care.  Please check out the photos.  I like the attention (even if it's negative).
