A&K M60VN Review - Hop-up upgrades & modifications
Tom Harris for the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog
Today's portion of my A&K M60VN Review doesn't exactly do the gun a whole lot of favors, but if the damn thing would just cooperate with me, this would have turned out a little better.

I made some progress with the hop-up, though I think I want to replace the bucking with a better one. Not a big deal, I usually replace the stock buckings in my AEGs anyway. The big issue came when I was doing a run-through before I started filming. I think the trigger switch is stuck in the on-position because the gun wouldn't stop firing after I let off the trigger, so I just had to unplug the battery. But, since I had already gone through the effort and spent quite a bit of time getting set up, I decided that the show must go on and I propped the gun up on some shooting bags and just connected and disconnected the battery to fire the gun on camera to show the improvements made on the hop-up.

Did anyone catch my random German language reference?  Anyway, this part of my A&K M60VN Review features my A&K M60VN box mag getting cut up like the Fourth of July.  Wait...what?!

Yea, that's right.

I didn't like the way the box mag looked at me, so I cut it.

I cut it wide open so I could see its guts.

Also, I see that Blogger has pulled some sort of prank on me for yesterday's blog in that it has refused to publish the post in its entirety.  I am currently working on recovering the data that I spent quite a bit of time creating, but I may have to rewrite the dang thing, which I can assure you, will make me want to choke a cute & cuddly teddy bear with no remorse while in blind rage.  I do apologize for the inconvenience.

If you caught the last installment of my A&K M60VN Review, you no doubt saw the underwhelming footage of this general purpose machine gun's performance at 30 yards.  As I stated in that blog entry, I had a sneaking suspicion that there was an internal issue with the hop-up.  Turns out, I was right.  Somebody at the A&K machine shop didn't quite have their settings dialed in on the CNC machine.  I think my photos pretty much explain what happened.  See below.

First, to get to the hop-up, you must remove the outer barrel on the gun using the barrel release lever seen just above the hand guard.

There is A&K M60VN Gun PRON at the end of this Health and Safety Series for Airsoft Champions blog as a reward for sticking it out through the boring, yet very important info I'm about to share with you.

PROTEIN sources.

Just like the pigs in the book, Animal Farm, some protein sources are more equal than other protein sources.

Why am I even talking about protein on an Airsoft blog?

Great question.  Because true Airsoft Champions are the ones who get out to the field and PLAY Airsoft.  You won't see too many people who are truly good at Airsoft trolling retail & manufacturer social media channels in their free time.

Protein repairs and builds additional muscle.  Having the strength to shoulder-fire the 20-pound Echo1 M240 Bravo Airsoft Machine Gun, for example, comes in REAL handy if you want to look badass out on the field.   Incorporating good quality protein will help you build the muscles you need to do that.

Speaking of badasses with Echo1 M240 Bravos, would you mind hitting the "like" button on the picture at this Facebook link?

I will raffle off the Echo1 ER-16 if I win the contest.  I know it sounds silly, but I just want the bragging rights.  What can I say?  I have vanity issues.  As an Airsoft Blogger, I am not usually in shortage of guns, so it would be kind of selfish of me to keep the gun anyway.

Anyway, back to the protein stuff & M60VN Gun Pron after the jump...

I'm having a hard time thinking of anything that looks better, is built better, AND performs better than the Echo1 M240 Bravo Airsoft Medium Machine Gun RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. Notice that I used the word "and" instead of "or," so before you trolls get on here and start rattling off your various contentions for a better AEG, make sure that it has ALL of those three attributes I mentioned (beauty, build quality & performance), not just one or two of them.
