I'm sure my buddies over at Elite Force are going to cringe when they read this, but let's face it: not everyone out there is going to send their gun in under warranty to get it fixed, should an issue arise. Some people just prefer to do the work themselves for whatever reason. So here's a blog for those of us who like to void our Airsoft warranties. No seriously, I'm pretty sure if you take your Elite Force M4A1 Carbine apart, as I am about to show you, you can kiss that sweet Umarex 1-year warranty goodbye. Just a fair warning before you do anything you might regret later.

Today's blog covers a look inside the Elite Force M4 Competition Series (Ares OEM) Airsoft AEG. The intent here, like all my other blogs featuring the internals of various Airsoft guns I review, is to show you, the reader, what the internals of the gun look like, in the event you want to upgrade or repair your gun's internals or maybe you're just curious. Whichever way you prefer, I am here to satisfy your needs (twss).

M4 Airsoft Rifle Sling Mount Solutions - Tactical Gear Tip
Tom Harris for the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog
I made a video wherein I discuss a few different options you have when it comes to attaching a sling to your Airsoft M4 Rifle.  I happened to use the Elite Force M4CR and the Elite Force M4 CQB as my guinea pigs, but these are solutions which will work with pretty much most of the M4 AEGs out there on the market.

Now that I've shown you how to get to the gearbox of the Elite Force Competition Series M4A1 Carbine, I will now provide you with the rest of the knowledge required to change your spring using the quick-change spring feature.

Some of you might be wondering what the purpose of having the ability to quickly change out your spring would be, so I'll tell you.  Let's say, for example, that your Elite Force M4 chronos at 350 FPS and you're going to an outdoor game on a big field, which allows for assault rifles to shoot up to 400 FPS.  Having the quick-change spring feature comes in real handy because you can swap out your 350 FPS spring for something like an M120 spring which will put your gun right around 400 FPS to give it that extra range it needs to stay competitive with the other rifles out on the field.  Mind you, having a good gun is only half the battle.  You'll need a good set of tactical knowledge about movement and outsmarting your opponent as well, but that's another topic for another time.

So anyway, back to our gearbox.  Check out the quick tutorial about quick-changing your spring after the jump...

So I skirmished with the new Elite Force M4 AEG two weeks ago and was very pleased with what this rifle did for me while I was checking out a new field to play Airsoft.  After seeing how accurate it was, I was anxious to get this gun out on the field to play with it.

I used the super-handy quick-change spring feature on the Elite Force M4's gearbox to quickly drop in an M120 spring to bump up the FPS to just under 400 FPS with a .20g BB.  I had been told by a friend ahead of time that the field we were going to check out was mainly outdoors, but did have a building on it which is said to be an abandoned Air Force research facility, used by our military back in the day to do military stuff.

So I got the word that Pyramyd Air is now carrying the new, licensed H&K G36 Competition Series from Elite Force and I have to say that I'm kinda giddy like a German Schoolboy. I got a chance to check out these new Airsoft AEGs from Elite Force when they were doing a big ol' West Coast Airsoft Road Trip back in August. They had a booth set up at the Association of Competitive Airsoft Expo that I attended and I was thoroughly impressed. Not only was I impressed, but my brother, Todd, was also impressed with Elite Force's newest licensed Heckler & Koch replicas, which is saying quite a bit more because Todd is actually nominated for the Special Airsoft Player Award in the Popular Airsoft Awards because he's an outstanding player AND he frequently has been witnessed running into to battle with nothing but 7 (yes, SEVEN) Airsoft pistols on his person, all cocked, locked and loaded, ready to engage an OPFOR heavily armed with an assortment of high-powered rifles. And he still wins.  See the link at the end of this post to nominate your favorite things in the Airsoft world (I'm hoping the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog is one of those things as well).

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing what these rifles can do, especially after seeing how well their competition series M4s did on the target range.  71% accuracy on an 8.5"x11" paper target in mildly windy conditions at 90+ feet.  Unmodified, tuned or otherwise upgraded.  I can tell you that there are other manufacturers with guns priced competitively in the same range who cannot even come close to that level.

Here's a close-up shot of the H&K G36KV, which is the longer version of the new Elite Force H&K series.

As I favor the KV, rather than the CV version for aesthetic reasons (performance differences in the longer outer barrel are going to be negligible), I took a second shot of the Tan H&K G36KV for your my viewing pleasure.

If you'd like to see the whole set of Elite Force's new H&K G36 series now available at Pyramyd Air, just click that link I just provided you with.  If you subscribe to our weekly Airsoft eBlast, you'll also receive a special coupon code that will allow you to pile on some additional savings (over and above their competitive price and free shipping, of course.)

Elite Force M4A1 Carbine Competition Series Airsoft AEG
Tom Harris for the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog
Here's a little review of the Elite Force M4A1 Carbine Competition Series AEG.  Technically, I'd consider it more of a performance test.  After I got the right BBs into the equation, this thing really started to cooperate.  I started out using .25g BBs, but they were all over the place, so I switched to a .30g just to see what the gun would do.  Low and behold, immediate improvement in flight path.  I could now zero in my optic and begin the test.

Last weekend, my brother-in-law, Jordan, wanted to test out his new GoPro HD helmet cam, so I gave him the new M4A1 AEG I got from Elite Force and told him to take it out to our favorite Airsoft CQB arena here in Southern California to get some footage of the gun in action to see how it performs.  Turns out, the gun performs pretty well, the camera performs pretty well and Jordan?  Well, Jordan just pwns the crap out of the other team! Combine all three and you've got a pretty phenomenal Airsoft POV HD Cam Video.

Elite Force Competition Series M4 CQB Airsoft AEG (ARES OEM)
Tom Harris Media for the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog
I've now had a chance to play with the two Competition Series M4 series AEGs that Elite Force sent me and can now provide a few thoughts on their performance.  For all practical purposes, they're essentially the same gun internally, so I'm just going to talk about the M4 CQB for today.
