In Part I of my KWA KRISS Vector review, I primarily covered the specs and features of the gun.

In Part II, I profess my love for it.

At long last, the KWA KRISS Vector Airsoft GBB submachine gun has found its way into my possession.  It's been quite a journey to get to this point.  I recall two years ago, being at Shot Show and getting word that there would be a prototype coming soon.

Yes, it did take quite awhile for this sweet SWISS thing to make it into production, but I really think that KWA went all in on this one.  It's a pretty impressive piece to say the very least and I think it was worth the wait.

Ah yes.  It seems like KWA always has an Ace up their sleeve.  Last week, for those of you that didn't know, was one of my favorite events of the year: Shot Show 2013.  It went down, as usual, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and while I was there, I stopped by the KWA booth to see what was new and exciting for 2013.  Sure, they had some cool things at their booth.  I came. I documented these things.  I left, thinking I obtained all the info there was to know.  Well, sure as I am bald, they threw a curve ball in the mix on Friday, the final day of the show.  They made more announcements previously undisclosed to the general public or even whispered in the dark corridors behind the scenes.

For starters, one of their more exciting pistols to be released (maybe) this year, is a licensed replica of the Sphinx SDP (Special Duty Pistol) Compact.  If you've ever had the luxury of shooting a Sphinx firearm, you'd know just how wonderful these handguns are.  They're comfortable, accurate and easy to handle.  I would imagine the KWA airsoft version will cover all those bases for a home run as well.

According to the copy supplied by KWA on their website, they're marketing this as the "airsoft training counterpart to the Sphinx SDP Compact."  With a statement like that, I'd expect them to attempt to mimic the firearm in every way allowable, which, undoubtedly, will make for a great Airsoft gun.

Here is a copy of some of the features & specs, which I've literally copied & pasted from their website:
"The Sphinx SDP (Special Duty Pistol) Compact by KWA is the exclusive airsoft training counterpart to the Sphinx SDP Compact. The disassembly procedures, interchangeable grips, and standard fire controls found on the firearm are recreated. The Construction of the Sphinx SDP frame combines aluminum alloy and polymer for dubilty and weight savings."

Here are some technical specifications ("Tech Specs") on the KWA Sphinx SDP Compact:
Magazine Capacity: 21 rounds
Propellant: Green gas
Inner Barrel Diameter: 6.05mm
Weight:2.09lbs
Velocity: 340-350 FPS, with .20g BB
Special Features:
  • Gas-operated recoil blow back
  • Realistic construction & field stripping
  • Full metal alloy slide
  • Metal alloy upper frame with polymer lower frame
  • Adjustable hop-up
  • Interchangeable grip inserts
  • Ambidextrous decocking lever
  • 3-dot combat sights
  • Front and rear slide serrations
  • Accessory rail

Some of you readers might be all current on all things Airsoft, so you may have already seen the news update on this particular gun from other channels who posted about it last week.  So let's get to the newer stuff that wasn't really talked about during the show.

Just to give you a hint or two, there is a new brand license and something cool and KRISS Vector-related.

CHECK ALL THAT OUT AFTER THE JUMP...

As soon as I heard the news, I immediately called their offices.  Miraculously, despite it being around 1am this morning when I called, they actually answered the phone (I knew they were all there because I saw them posting on Facebook about being there).  However, they refused to let me drive out to their office in the middle of the night, which is about an hour away from my house, so that I could pick up a Vector of my own.  Poppycock and bollocks!

In this video, I talk to Mike Hou about the new KWA gas blowback pistols which include the KWA 1911A1 US Army edition, KWA MKV (Makarov), KWA TT-33 (Tokarev) & even gave another little shout-out to the KWA HK45 because I'm so attracted to it. I also sank to a new low and sniffed a gun on camera. Granted, it WAS the KWA KRISS Vector, but still. I need to lock it up and keep it professional. It's so hard to do though when you've got that Vector in your hands, because you just lose all your inhibitions. I don't know what else I can do.

Last week, I invited myself out to the KWA USA headquarters to see the KWA KRISS Vector, along with a bunch of other new KWA releases set for 2012.

Mike, from KWA, was patient enough to let me interrupt his day and force him to do a bunch of video interviews with me regarding their new products.

Here is the one (see below) Mike & I did for the KWA KRISS Vector, set for release this summer (2012).

Ah...The KWA KRISS Vector Gas Blowback Airsoft SMG

I think that KWA has done a really nice job on this highly sought after Airsoft SMG.  Even though the model featured in these photos that I got to see is still a prototype, subject to changes, it's a working model.  Yes, I got to shoot it.

I'll tell you all about the KWA KRISS Vector after the jump...

KWA KRISS Vector, Airsoft KRISS, Airsoft Vector, Airsoft submachine guns, Airsoft Sphinx Pistol, Sphinx 3000 compact 9mm, KRISS Super V action, Pyramyd Airsoft Blog, Tom Harris Media,
As it turns out, I find myself increasingly attracted to the KRISS Vector series of submachine guns.
KWA KRISS Vector, Airsoft KRISS, Airsoft Vector, Airsoft submachine guns, Airsoft Sphinx Pistol, Sphinx 3000 compact 9mm, KRISS Super V action, Pyramyd Airsoft Blog, Tom Harris Media,
So I thought instead of just being increasingly attracted to it, I would also tell people that I'm increasingly attracted to it here on the Pyramyd Airsoft Blog.  Thus, I dug up some old photos from my fantastical adventures with my brother, Todd, at Shot Show 2011 back in January of this year to reminisce about the initial introduction between the KRISS Super V Vector submachine gun and I at the KWA Performance Industries Booth, which was conveniently located just across the aisle from the actual KRISS Systems booth, so as to allow me to go back and forth between the two, breathing heavily the glass display cases, the booth staff and the guns themselves, all with stale breath composed primarily of the odors from several meals at Chipotle and massive amounts of booze consumed during the prior evenings adventures at various adult beverage establishments throughout the world-famous Las Vegas Strip.  I did try brushing my teeth and using Listerine to help mask my activities, but when you combine the awesome powers of Chipotle and delicious Fat Tire ale on tap from a sweet Irish pub in the New York New York, it's nearly impossible to combat such forces.

I would like to issue a delayed apology to the KWA and KRISS/SPHINX/DEFIANCE staff who had to endure my foul, hot-garbage breath.  I'd especially like to apologize to the KRISS Vector guns I fondled while breathing said hot-garbage breath on them, as well as the beautiful SPHINX pistols and DEFIANCE suppressors.

I hope they'll forgive me and just chalk it up to "good times in The Vegas."

So anyway,

For the few of you that read my blog, but don't keep up with the first-person shooter gaming circuit, the KRISS Vector became rather popular among the gaming & Airsoft crowd when the French-designed, Swiss-made submachine gun appeared in the super extra popular video game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 as one of the weapon options players could use to "pwn" other players while streaming live game play over a LAN or Wi-Fi internet connection, using audio headphones equipped with microphones.  These headsets allow COD gamers to taunt either their friends or total strangers somewhat anonymously using harsh words against the other's mothers, sisters, and/or favorite Catholic priests after "killing" the opponent using the KRISS Vector SMG.  Good clean fun for the whole family.  I should note that it was not the beautifully precision-engineered Vector which caused these individuals to behave this way (The Swiss like to keep it in neutral).  It was probably Eminem, Marilyn Manson, R-Rated Movies and/or Satan himself that convince these individuals to say things that would make Charles Manson blush.  Probably a combination of all four.  It was definitely NOT the result of poor or non-existent parenting.  That's never the case.

So with that tiny background blurb, check out my KRISS photo update to see why so many people, including Airsoft bloggers like me, think this submachine gun is so groovy.

Yeeeaaaaa...soooo...I really had no idea what I was getting myself into when I decided to stop by the KRISS booth at this year's Shot Show 2011. First off, I was greeted by the gentleman you see eyeballing me at the bottom of the image, hiding behind my watermark. That's Wolfgang.  He's a nice guy with an awesome German accent.  You see, the Swiss don't actually speak "Swiss."  They speak German, French and/or possibly one other language, depending on their closest bordering country.  I think I may have already mentioned him in a previous Shot Show blog, most likely having to do with KWA stuff.  Wolfgang spotted me like a hawk stalking an oblivious rodent scurrying through an open field from several hundred yards above the Earth.  When I moved in closer to the booth to get a better look at some incredible pistols that caught my eye, he swooped in and struck with the kind of precision you'd expect from someone living in the land of Haute Horlogerie (Google it).

So what if I've been living under a bridge like a freakin' troll?!?  I hadn't heard of Sphinx until this moment.  I don't pretend to be any sort of firearms connoisseur.  Better late than never, is what I say.  Anyway, as a huge admirer of IPSC competition race pistols (Airsoft or otherwise), naturally, this was love at first sight.  Very unique, very cool stuff going on here.  How about some close-ups of what you see above?  Not interested?  Sorry.  Not your call...

How about this Swiss minx?

To the naked eye, this Sphinx race pistol might just look a little boxy with a Doctor-style sight mounted to its lower frame, but NO!!!

Sphinx ported the slide & barrel and added a nice little compensator in there for good measure.  My favorite combo in a race gun.  I have good reason to believe these features are designed to reduce the recoil and increasing the shooter's ability to keep the muzzle from jumping too far off target, for faster target-acquisition between shots.  But who cares about the purpose for having those features?!?!  I just love the way they look:  "Sick wit it," as they say in some circles.  Can you imagine how legitimately sweet it would be if somebody in the Airsoft world were to make a Sphinx Airsoft replica like this, or at least the parts to build one from scratch?  Also: am I particularly interested in hearing about how the gentleman in the photo is using the trigger to suspend the gun while it's pointed directly at his torso?  No.   But will I allow you to comment on it in the "comments" section below?  ABSOLUTELY!!!  Have at it.

But back to the race guns...Are you more of a traditional Open Class kinda guy or gal?
Sphinx has something for you, too.

This one's all decked out with the slide-mounted charging handle, competition magwell, slide & barrel ports (of course) and compensator.  To the more observant members of the crowd, you'll notice that this particular gun features a C-More-style optic (probably the real one in this pic), but it's got a weird mount that makes the optic perpendicular (rotated 90 degrees) to the orientation a traditional optics mount would have.  This is done so that the actual electro-optical dot image projected on the glass will be aligned as close to the barrel as possible, to provide more accuracy for the shooter (in theory).

Can't say I bothered to even look at the name tag for this next situation, so for all practical purposes, we'll just call it "Silver Sphinx Pistol in a Glass Case of Emotion."

I'm not saying that I don't think it's a good-looking gun.  I DID take its photo, didn't I?

It looks like Sphinx took a Glock and like, did stuff to it or something. There was so much to discuss and so little time...sorry I couldn't provide more info here.  At least I got the photo (sort of, stupid flash!)  Someday, I'm going to learn how to bump the ISO up to a more suitable level like a big boi and avoid having to use the flash at all for future Shot Shows that I attend.

This next shot is "Exhibit A" why my life doesn't suck...The SPHINX Tactical SWAT 9mm Handgun with Defiance Adjustable Precision Silencer (APS)...

Yes.  That's the same Sphinx, or one very similar, to the model that KWA is working on producing for the 6mm world.  Only this one has attached to it, aside from a nice little Insight taclight, a Defiance suppressor specially designed for this gun.  It's no ordinary suppressor and when I tell you about what it does, you wouldn't be the only one if you were to say, "that's definitely made for some black ops mother lovers."  As much as I love California and the fact that all my family & most of my friend reside here, this new Defiance suppressor is making me seriously question whether some other state not nearly as lame about suppressor laws would be the way to go.  Why would I need a suppressor for a firearm?  I'm an accountant.  Nuff said.

You never know when haters gonna hate on your financial statements and you gotta "hot" some fool for disrespecting your Profit & Loss Statement.

Enough bibble babble.  The Sphinx Tactical SWAT 9mm is a semi-auto pistol.  However, with the Defiance suppressor attached, you can toggle between semi-auto and single-shot.  You might ask, "Well, what's so great about that?!?"  ANSWER: The Defiance suppressor somehow deactivates the slide from cycling on single-shot so that when you fire the gun, the spent shell is prevented from ejecting, and thereby further reducing the decibel level at which this Sphinx beauty registers at when fired.  The down side is that you have to manually rack the slide after each slide on single-shot, but the trade-off is so cool, that I don't think it really matters.  I love how I'm providing opinions and analysis on matters of clandestine tactics & covert operations.  As an Airsoft blogger, I'm like totally qualified for that sort of thing.  Totally.

Anyway, next up, I'll show you some photos of the REAL KRISS submachine gun.  Then I'll get back to Airsoft.  I'm also working on my AAR of Operation: Red Storm that went down in Whittier, CA two weekends ago.  Thanks for reading (or at least scrolling through the pictures).
