I'm sure my buddies over at Elite Force are going to cringe when they read this, but let's face it: not everyone out there is going to send their gun in under warranty to get it fixed, should an issue arise. Some people just prefer to do the work themselves for whatever reason. So here's a blog for those of us who like to void our Airsoft warranties. No seriously, I'm pretty sure if you take your Elite Force M4A1 Carbine apart, as I am about to show you, you can kiss that sweet Umarex 1-year warranty goodbye. Just a fair warning before you do anything you might regret later.

Tominator's Airsoft Tech Tools - Rubber Mallet or Mini Hammer Thing and a Punch

I know that my little title there might make some of you tool geeks cringe because I'm not using the official name of that little hammer underneath the rubber mallet.  Well I'm sorry, but that's the hand you were dealt.

So for today's tech tool tip, I thought I'd highlight two tools that I find myself constantly using when I'm working on guns at my Airsoft Man Cave Workbench.

A perfect example of why having a rubber mallet or mini hammer and a punch tool is handy would be when you need to take down your Airsoft M4 AEG.  I recently featured a takedown tutorial for the Elite Force M4 Competition Series guns wherein I used the rubber mallet and punch tool to gently tap out several body pins in the lower receiver, like the one you see me pointing to in the picture below.

Dan Wesson 8 Inch Airsoft Revolver with Eotech-style holosigh

Optics on an 8 inch Airsoft revolver?  HECK YEA, HOMIE!  Today's blog features a little How-to-clean-your-airsoft-inner-barrel for the Dan Wesson 8 Inch Airsoft Revolver and then I follow that up with a little bit on installing the Picatinny rail that comes with it so that I could create a gratuitous gun pron sequence at the very end of the film.

Find out how to take down the Dan Wesson 8 Inch Airsoft Revolver, clean the inner barrel & install the scope mount base after the jump...

Now that I've shown you how to get to the gearbox of the Elite Force Competition Series M4A1 Carbine, I will now provide you with the rest of the knowledge required to change your spring using the quick-change spring feature.

Some of you might be wondering what the purpose of having the ability to quickly change out your spring would be, so I'll tell you.  Let's say, for example, that your Elite Force M4 chronos at 350 FPS and you're going to an outdoor game on a big field, which allows for assault rifles to shoot up to 400 FPS.  Having the quick-change spring feature comes in real handy because you can swap out your 350 FPS spring for something like an M120 spring which will put your gun right around 400 FPS to give it that extra range it needs to stay competitive with the other rifles out on the field.  Mind you, having a good gun is only half the battle.  You'll need a good set of tactical knowledge about movement and outsmarting your opponent as well, but that's another topic for another time.

So anyway, back to our gearbox.  Check out the quick tutorial about quick-changing your spring after the jump...
