It’s a Tool
When you could choose your weapon, or maybe I should call it a tool instead. A weapon brings to mind warfare and when a hunter is hunting they’re not necessarily fighting the game they’re intending to harvest. For that reason, I like to call a gun, a bow, a knife a tool versus a weapon. Does that make sense? It does to me so let’s move on!
Back to my original thought, when or if you can choose any tool to hunt with, what would you choose and why? Let me explain myself, some of you may be thinking to yourself, (or voicing your opinion out loud the one you’re with), “If and when! I always get to choose!” That is not the case everywhere and for everything. Different states, regions, and counties have different laws.
For instance, in Oklahoma Deer Archery season begins October first and goes until January fifteenth. Deer Gun season begins November twenty-third and ends on December eighth. Do you get where I’m going with this?
Multi-tool operator it is!
If you want to hunt for any period of time in Oklahoma, it’s best if you become a multi-tool operator. It does take certain skills to use a firearm properly and efficiently, but I would venture to say something like the Bear Archery Persist Compound Bow is going to take a bit more learning and persistence to achieve success.
You get to make a choice wherever you reside or hunt. If you’re in Oklahoma do you want to limit your deer season to sixteen days, or do you want to take advantage of it from start to finish?
That is one reason a Bear Archery Persist Compound Bow is so appealing! I love giving answers to my own questions, don’t you? If you’re willing to become a multi-tool operator the limits to your outdoor fun have just been staunched!
In situations where you can choose your “Tool” of choice, why would a compound bow be the tool found in one’s hand? A firearm takes less skill, (yes that’s what I believe and I shoot both). It can also seem to prove more immediate success. Firearms produce far more energy than a bow and the bullets along with the energy dump can, depending on the type, produce a greater wound channel than say a Swhacker Razor 4 Blade Broadhead.
Archery or Rifle
So, back to my question and yes, I’ll give you the answer. If you have the ability to choose your hunting tool, why would you choose a compound bow over a rifle?
Is it a hunger for a challenge? Maybe a desire to obtain a certain skill level? Do you love the thrill of an up close and personal encounter? Or you’re impressed by the sport and have a passion that runs through your blood and where it comes from you can’t explain? What if I say, it’s all of the above!
Archery is the Best Thrill
There’s nothing like getting geared up, choosing the perfect hiding place, encountering the game you’re after closer than ever before, and hoping to get the perfect shot off before they are spooked. It’s kind of like a game of hide and seek tag with some delicious fruit, if all goes as planned. If you’re looking for the thrill of the hunt, archery hunting is the best way to find it!
