Can you believe some people value their equipment more than their own well-being? Sometimes it’s a matter of, “Do you know how much that costs?” or “I’ll be okay, I’ll bounce!” Do you happen to think like that? If you’ve managed to bounce along this far in life unscathed, good for you! Know this! People’s ability to bounce fades away with time. What about doing what you can to preserve both your gear and yourself?

Of Course I Care
In most instances, there are precautions you can take to keep you and your equipment safe. One thing you need to come to grips with is, you can always buy another Excalibur Hybrid X crossbow and more Proflight arrows, but you can’t buy another back! If it does come down to you or your equipment, as much as I like archery equipment, I’d choose you, too!
Buck up! Wipe the tears away! Let’s get back to how you can preserve both you and your equipment. If you need a hug when we’re done, go hug your dog! Here’s a list of steps to take to accomplish what we’re talking about.
Steps To Preservation
- Follow the instructions included with your equipment.
- Store your equipment appropriately.
- Safely transport you and your equipment to your destination.
- Always treat your equipment as if it is loaded.
It’s important to know the manufacturer’s intentions for the equipment. You don’t have to know the exact engineering process, nor every part of it! But you should understand how the manufacturers intend it to be used. If you’re not willing to do that, you’re not practicing equipment preservation or self-preservation. Walk away! Just walk away!
Keep It Together!
Storing your equipment appropriately is another way to show equipment preservation. Proper storage assures everything stays as you would have it, sights, arrows, rests, releases, etc…
There’s nothing more frustrating than planning to make a quick getaway to the hunting stand and your plans being foiled because of a lost accessory or broken part.
Storing your Excalibur Hybrid X in a perfect case for it the Hybrid X case and assuring it is in a safe low low-traffic area will assure you can stick to your plan and make a quick getaway and just like your equipment, you need appropriate covering as well!

Transportation Is A Big Deal
The next point, transportation of yourself and your equipment. Let’s begin with you, appropriate clothing is key and that depends on the terrain you’ll be venturing out on. You may need the Muddy TRX Softshell Pants to give you extra protection on the knees and your backside. Maybe your setting doesn’t require extra protection but you need something lightweight to keep you cool and comfortable like the Muddy TRX Lightweight Pants.
When transporting yourself and your equipment into your stand, the best way to assure both subjects’ safety is with clothing and carrying equipment doesn’t hinder you in any way. You should be able to maneuver freely and be hands free as much as possible, to be able to catch yourself if you happen to fall. Don’t think so highly, even the best hunters find themselves face down in the dirt at some point.
It May Not Be Fine!
This is all especially important if you are climbing onto a Hawk Cruzr Hang-On Tree Stand. Here lies another opportunity to preserve both you and your equipment. Take all the safety precautions as instructed with both the stand and your equipment; this is not a time to rest in the phrase, “It’ll be fine!”
If you choose to stand in that phrase, here’s the danger you and your equipment face. A broken crossbow and possibly arrows, a broken you, and an abandoned tree stand. Aw, poor treestand! The world is full of abandoned tree stands for this very reason; don’t add to the statistics!
“Can you believe some people value their equipment more than their own well-being?”
The Bow Bully,
Wow, man! Until I read this report, I’d have said, “No!”
I find it a bit crazy that some people think that way, but then again I was raised to believe the only thing you can’t replace is you, LOL! Thanks for an interesting report. 🙂
Blessings to you,
dave
Dave,
Thanks for responding, I always love a good comment! I know it’s hard to believe but I’ve seen it and heard it first-hand. You can bet there was some regret to follow and maybe they should have read this first. I hope it may help people realize, as you were raised, only you are irreplaceable!
Thanks again!
