So, I recently got an older American Classic 1377 (it has the sliding breech cover) and it won't hold air when I pump. I can't seem to figure out what I need to do in terms of replacement parts in order to get this old lady back up and running. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
First thing is strip it down and inspect all the seals and springs, and inspect all over the inside of the pumping tube for wear or damage. Replace parts as necessary, starting with o rings or seals. And of course don't forget the pellgun oil.
what is the dimensions of the Crosman short breech?
What is the length of the long breech vs the short
Does this breech have a dovetail rail or is it just tapped and ready for a rail to be mounted?
Yes, the dovetail is machined in
Does installing this yourself void a new pistol warranty?
You would have to check with Crosman, but I would imagine so.
Will this work on the original 1377 that has a sleeve over the bolt instead of the handle and knob bolt?
No it will not.
how long is this breech and what color is it, is every piece black?
6 1/4 " All parts are Black.

Can this breech be used for a 2240 177 conversion?
Can be used to convert 2240 to 1740 with the addition of .177 barrel, bolt, and probe o-ring.
Yes, Fits 1377, ***1740*** 1760 a 1740 is a 2240 w/.177 barrel
No, since the barrel will still be .22 cal.
What size dovetail does this breech have?

You would need to call Crosman and ask them. Their number is 1-800-7AIRGUN.
