Things I liked:

The P1 is incredibly accurate. It will out-shoot a standard M1911A1 pistol at 50 feet. It has the same grip as the standard 1911A1, and is therefore a wonderful trainer. The gun has 2 power levels in .177, but not in .22. The trigger is adjustable and is light and crisp. The gun is easy to cock for the power it delivers. The build quality is excellent, but don't start taking it apart unless you know how to work on an aluminum-framed gun. It's easy to make the pin holes too large if you use the wrong drifting technique.

Things I would have changed:

The adjustable sights are excellent, but the 11mm optical sight rail could be cut deeper. It doesn't grab onto dot sight bases well. Also, there needs to be a positive scope stop built into the top rail, as the front sight gets peened by serving as an ad hoc stop.

What others should know:

Don't use the lower power setting. Just shoot on high power or your gun will start dieseling. The velocity with RWS Hobby pellets is more in the 550-560 f.p.s. range. 600 f.p.s. is out of reach for anything except trick pellets like Raptors, and they're inaccurate.

Things I liked:

Major breech seal issue. The breach seal keeps popping out after every shot. It seems to be an issue with P1’s with serial numbers after 310911 as noted on several reviews here and air gun forums. I paid for the 10 for $10 service and they didn’t catch this? As soon as I fired it I new something was wrong. PA is out of spare seals and this is unacceptable. PA tech department had no idea, how is that possible if the reviews clearly say so. Do not buy until they get to the bottom of this. Hoping for a remedy if not I’m sending it back in for a full refund.

    Things I liked:

Great gun. Very accurate. Looks Great Looks like a real firearm. Suggest shoot in a inclosed backyard or a makeshift indoor range.

    Things I would have changed:

It is a perfect air pistol.

    What others should know:

Have extra breech o'rings they do get cut and cause a lot of problems. I was ready to send my gun in for repair but I discovered my o'ring was cut and missing a small section. Keep the hammer greased and the barrel will click smoothly.

    Things I liked:

Quality made pistol in every way! Yes its expensive but if you've had enough of the cheap Chinese junk then take the plunge you wont regret it. This pistol is dead on I only raised the sight a little bit after 200 or 300 rounds, was all over the place before that, don't know if it was me or the gun. Feels awesome in the hand, sweet trigger, balanced, looks good, not hard to cock once you get your routine down. All metal construction (including the trigger and sights) none of that fiber optic junk, real wood grips.

    Things I would have changed:

A better manual would be nice but I'm sure i can get what ever info i might need from the internet I'm just old and like real paper manuals.

    What others should know:

I shoot indoors mostly in the winter at 10m. Ive gone through just under three tins of pellets of various brands so it's just now getting broke in, then i will start experimenting with different brands of pellets and see if one is better than the other. The FPS is right around 400 to 430 with different weights The speed is coming up as the spring gets settled in but I don't know if I will get to the rated 460, with a super light pellet it probably would be there now. Shooting 14 to 18 gn. I bought this P-1 instead of the HW 75 because it has more power and I wanted .22 caliber. I like springers they allow for no slack in your shooting technique.

    Things I liked:

Quality on par with almost any firearm. I really like the nostalgic 1911 look & feel. Very powerful & accurate. My P1 is in .22 and shoots well with the RWS Hobby 12 gr. ammo. Even low power yields a decent 3 1/2 ft lbs and is noticeably quieter.

    Things I would have changed:

A bit loud for me in high power producing 5+ ft lbs. Low power is quiet and smooth.

    What others should know:

Sights are very good and the trigger is excellent. It is adjustable but was just fine for me as-is from the factory (probably 2 1/2 or 3 lb pull).

    Things I liked:

Excellent fit and finish. An accurate, hard hitting, high quality pistol that's built like a tank. Lots of aftermarket grip options. Crisp 2 stage adjustable trigger. I've read much about this gun over the years, and now that I finally have one, I see that all the positive reviews are true. This is a great gun.

    Things I would have changed:

The odd sized 14mm dovetail limits your optics options. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

    What others should know:

The pistol takes a bit of getting used to, and is very hold sensitive, but once mastered, it's a great shooting gun. The grip frame is indeed identical to a 1911A1, which opens up a ton of aftermarket grip options. I've read that the .22 version only has one power setting. Mine is a .22 and it does come with the dual power settings. The trigger is adjustable, but I found the factory setting to be perfect. If you're planning to mount a scope or red dot sight, you need to know that the milled dovetail is 14mm, which limits your optics options. The spring piston system is unusual in that it doesn't recoil forward like most springers. The firearm-like rearward recoil and familiar 1911 feel makes this gun a great trainer. Cocking effort started out quite stiff, but 200 rounds in the gun is breaking in nicely and the cocking cycle has become noticeably smoother and lighter. It's a pricey pistol, but the fit, finish, and overall build quality are outstanding. It's well worth the money.

P1 feels sturdy and solid with an all metal built, also has excellent power for a pump pistol...fun to shot.

    Things I would have changed:

Wish it had different grips available to purchase, everyone has different size hands and different grips make the fire arm much more comfortable to hold when firing.

    What others should know:

exellent purchase, the only better is the P11

I love the weight and fell of the gun.

    Things I would have changed:

fiber-optic sight would be an excellent option, if possible. If you are not careful you can pinch the o-ring that seals the barrel when loading (pellet not all the way in or shifts when closing the breach). This can result in a loss of pressure to the barrel.

    Things I liked:

The looks and feel of the P1 is very similar to shooting my Ruger 1911 9mm. The bigest different is the cost to shoot. My practice time is everyday now instead of once a month. I could not be happier with the purchase of the Beeman P1.

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing, this is a German made pistol, what's to change.

    What others should know:

The lighter crosman 7.4 DESTROYER shot very well thru my BEEMAN P1.

    Things I liked:

It is accurate. Firing from a rest using Beeman pointed 8.53 Grain pellets at 20 feet the groups are about an inch. The fit and finish of the pistol is excellent. It is a bargain. I was able to get a refurnished pistol. It is as good as new, perhaps better.

    Things I would have changed:

It is a little difficult to load the pistol using a speed loader.

    Things I liked:

This is probably my best air weapon, on par with its equally aged RWS Model 36 Rifle, both in .177. It has been serviced once since the early 1990s for a new main spring by Beeman when it was in Huntington Beach, CA. It is sturdy, precise and consistently consistent.

    Things I would have changed:

How does one improve on perfection? This project of Robert Beeman and Weirauch lives up to its reputation, "The Holy Grail of air pistols." I can think of nothing requiring change that would not unbalance the total package that is the P-1.

    What others should know:

I had read complaints of some who blow out their breech seal. I learned a long, long time ago, that that occurs if the pellet chosen is too tight to the bore. I shot RWS Super Mags for years (when they were 9.5 grains) and had to purchase a pellet sizer to reduce their diameter a few thousands of an inch. To much obturation/friction at the breech WILL dump the high pressure air by blowing out the small O ring seal. Also, after tens of thousands of shots, the pistol exceedingly gradually became dangerous. It did so by becoming hair-triggered. I suspect it self-polished to the point of danger. The solution was to ADD pressure by adjusting the trigger resistance per the instructions. Problem solved! This is an heirloom piece for the serious air gun enthusiast. It will outlast its first and may several owners. It is worth the price of admission.

    Things I liked:

Man, I agonized over buying this gun. It was so much money, and after reading every review I was concerned about whether I would like it, be able to hit anything with it, etc. I shouldn't have worried. My P3 and S&W 586 Co2 are gathering dust, as this thing is super fun to shoot, very accurate, packs a punch and is easy to learn to shoot well if you dedicate a few (fun) sessions to "learning" it, like you would with any airgun or firearm. Great trigger, and I prefer the solid sights my gun came with to the fiber optics, but to each his own. You won't be able to put this gun down, and will want to show your friends and get a little competition going, perhaps. While I am confident that you will not regret buying it, if for some crazy reason you do, resale prices are always high on this gun...but I'm keeping mine, thanks!

    Things I would have changed:

On my gun, the rear sight adjustment screw would move a bit under recoil over time. I sighted the gun in for 10 meters and put a tiny bit of Purple Locktite (weakest kind) on the threads of the adjustment screw UNDER the slide where the screw come through it. Problem solved...but as an alternative, I could have just taken a picture of the screw's position and checked it before each shooting session, so whatever solution the shooter prefers, this is easily managed.

    What others should know:

My particular gun is .177 and loves the RWS R 10 Match pellets in the 7.0 grain weight. I am stocking up on these as opportunity allows. Although it's nifty, I find I never really use the low power setting, and the point of impact is significantly different. However, it is nice to know that is an option if I ever need it in future shooting situations, but I would have to sight it in as such.

    Things I liked:

I bought my Beeman P-1 directly from Beeman back in 1985. It cost $180 C.O.D. It's still a great pistol and I shoot it regularly. I've got a couple of friends who ask, from time to time, if I'm willing to sell it. The answer is always no. It's an heirloom that will stay in the family. It's stamped "Made in W. Germany" and it's one of the first 2500 shipped to the U.S., based on the serial number. It's a .177 caliber.

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing. However, I wish it had the fiber-optic sights that the current models have. It has regular iron sights. My eyesight isn't as good as it was 36 years ago. I haven't put on optics on it, because it wouldn't fit in the Uncle Mike's holster I purchased back then.

    What others should know:

The only thing I've done to it was replace the mainspring around 1995. I loaned it to a brother-in-law to dispatch pests on his property. He knew how to take care of it, but apparently his wife cocked it once and left it that way. When it was returned months later, it was unloaded, but still cocked. Beeman charged $100 to repair it and ship it back. It doesn't get loaned out anymore.

    Things I liked:

I bought one in 1990 and it was stolen last year in a burglary. I replaced it with another one just like the one that was stolen because there is nothing else that even comes close. Great trigger and it has power enough to close the deal on smallish vermin. I like the sights better than the fiber optic sights that come on the HW45.

    What others should know:

    1. Just find out what ammo it likes and practice. 2. Join the NRA to support their education and competition programs and join Gun Owners of America (GOA) to defend our right to keep and bear arms. 3. We need to buy a second P1. Its never fun to have to wait your turn.

    Things I liked:

I bought a refurbished gun, so that helped with the overall cost. This gun does not seem to have the breech o-ring problem that many mention...all is well. Since I like the way the Government, Colt 45 feels in the hand (grip angle), I was hoping that the P1 would feel the same way...and yes it does. I even installed a set of colt grips onto the P1. Looking for a set of thumb rest grips. Found one brand that look good, still looking. The gun is solid, moving parts are firm in their movement, not at all sloppy or loose.

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing that I can think of now.

    What others should know:

Since I'm up there in years, I'm searching for a good sighting mechanism. Right now I have a SeeAll sight on it. I'll work on that for a while, but like the rest of my weapons, I'll probably end up with a red dot of some sort, probably a Holosun at this point. Yes, cocking the gun does take a little getting used to. Once you figure out your own method, you should be fine. Happy with this purchase.

The pistol is easy to cock and has plenty of room to load pellets. Finish is excellent and feels great in the hand. Sights are high quality and provide a sharp sight picture.

    Things I would have changed:

Eliminate lateral play in the cocking arms. This play generates a rattle while either cocked or un-cocked. For such an expensive air gun, it should not rattle.

    What others should know:

The pistol dieseled badly for the first 80 rounds or so. This caused some extreme wild flyers. Be sure of your back stop. Accuracy is also rather poor. Groups from this pistol are 4 to 8 times larger than what I get from any of my SSPs.

    Things I liked:

The first thing you notice is that this air pistol is built like a tank and feels great in the hand. No words or pictures can really convey the feeling of quality. Power is very good from the .20 cal. The first 4 shots I took dieseled heavily and were over 650fps. After that, the gun settled down and has stayed between 500-510 fps over the first tin of 500 pellets. This is a bit faster than I expected. H&N FTT 11.42 grain are a good match for the bore and the power plant. They drop right into the breech with little effort, but accuracy is excellent. I will be stocking up on them.

    Things I would have changed:

    Nothing.

    What others should know:

This spring pistol requires a consistent hold for accuracy. I found a very light hold to be the easiest one to repeat. Hitting the 'X' with a gun that recoils the way this one does is very gratifying.

First of all the picture doesn't do the gun justice it's much better looking in person. From my first shot to the one I took today it's a blast to shoot. It is accurate and easily adjustable. The only thing I didn't like was the grips. Since most after market 1911 grips fit the pistol you have a great many options to change them. I have Altamont target grips on it and a pair of Hogue rubber grips also both fit good, I have put over 2500 pellets through it without any problems. You will love this pistol

    Things I would have changed:

Just the grips which is an easy change.

    Things I liked:

I sent in a review after shooting my P 1 with about 1500 shots through it . The pistol shot very good , but the trigger was " gritty " . I have shot another 1000 pellets through it and the trigger is getting much better the more I shoot it . The trigger is adjustable , but I have not tried to adjust mine yet . I have a very high quality red dot mounted on my pistol and you can shoot 7/8" diameter target pasters easily at 30 feet from the off hand position . I read one review that said his pistol shot better on the " High " power setting and I find that is true with mine also . It takes the same amount of cocking effort to shoot at the HI or LO setting . Not sure why ? I suggest you try both settings when testing your P1 . Also I have only tested four different brands of pellets and the more expensive pellets shoot better off a rest , but do not make much difference for me when I shoot for practice .

    Things I would have changed:

Owner / user manual is not very good . I had to contact Pyramyd Air tech support to answer questions I had . They were very helpful in answering my questions .

    What others should know:

I also read one review that another shooter said that his adapter rail was moving when shooting his pistol . He suggested a " scope stop " . I mounted my adapter rail ( 11 MM dove tail to Weaver ) and completely de-greased the dove tail on the pistol , the contact surfaces ( where the adapter mount contacts the dove tail ) and the screws and threaded areas of the adapter . I pushed the adapter mount fully forward to the rear of the front sight ( the back of the front sight now acts as a scope stop ) . I used a very small amount of LOCTITE Blue on the adapter screws . The pistol has not changed ZERO in over 2500 shots . GO EASY when tightening the adapter screws as ( MY adapter ) is aluminum and you can strip the threads .

    Things I liked:

Practice with this air pistol really improves your scores with 1911 handguns / pistols with live ammo ( .22 , 9 mm , .38 super & .45 ACP ) . After shooting this P1 a couple of times a week ( 50 to 100 shots ) my scores with my 1911 s have really improved . I mounted a high quality red dot on my P1 like I have on my 1911 fire arms and the P 1 shoots ragged holes with good high quality pellets . I have 13 each 1911 pistols in various calibers and this P1 is the only air pistol that gives you same " feel " as shooting a 1911 firearm in my opinion . I think the cocking effort the P1 has improved my upper body strength and am not sure ? When I shoot my 1911 firearms the red dot does not bounce like before and is much steadier ( not chasing a fire fly ) . FUN GUN to shoot

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger on my pistol is gritty compared to my 1911 firearms . I only have shot , my P1 about 1500 shots now and the trigger is getting better than when it was new . The trigger is adjustable , but I have not tried to tweak mine yet .

    What others should know:

I Have three other air pistols ( Webley Hurricane , Webley Tempest and a Browning 800 ) . In my opinion NONE of those shoot as well as my P 1 . The P 1 is sort of expensive , but well worth the money for my use .
