    Things I liked:

Simple to operate, high magazine capacity, rugged like Kalashnikov, and when I pick it up and go outside it makes me feel like Christmas.

    Things I would have changed:

    Can't think of anything.

    What others should know:

Just came in from reducing the invasive species population, lizards. The Red Ryder does quite well at 5 yards and a yard or two more. What's that you say? I am an invasive species also? Well yes...but there can be only one.

    Things I liked:

Can shoot all day on one fill. Well made good looking. My gun is more accurate than as described, I hit cans at 10 yards consistently and a 20oz coke bottle at 14 yards (60%). I have the scoped version, it is easy to zero and it holds adjustments well. The trigger is stiff but the pull is consistent with a clean break.

    Things I would have changed:

    Nothing

    What others should know:

If you hold the gun wrong while cocking (look at the manual) a BB will not chamber. Have fun.

    Things I liked:

I love this gun! It is reliable, repeatable, quiet, light, easy to cock, and it holds over 600 BBs. It is perfect for an 8 year old to learn shooting basics - and for adults to scare unwanted critters out of the garden. Everyone should have one.

    Things I would have changed:

I would change the advertised speed. The spec says 350 fps but mine is not even close. After putting 600 shots through it and lubricating per recommendations, the best I can get is slightly over 300 fps with standard 5.1 grain Daisy BBs, when measured through my chronograph. That is actually plenty fast for the uses mentioned above. (From what i calculate the only way that gun will shoot at 350 fps is if it is using BBs that only weigh 3.5 grains. As far as i know they don't exist .) The inflated speed is only reason i did not give it a 5 rating.

    What others should know:

There is no way you will get 350 fps. Figure on 300 fps. If you maintain it properly you will be passing this down to your grandchildren.

Wow! This is so much fun. Bought it for my 9 y/o daughter and she loves it. No CO2, holds plenty of rounds, easy to load, and viciously accurate. Can't attest to reliability because we've only had it for a month but have put around 300 rds with no problems.

    Things I liked:

I had been ignoring my Red Ryder in favor of pellet guns for a long time, but recently had so much fun shooting BBs at a camp that I decided to give it a new look. Started using aluminum soda cans as targets instead of paper, and I've been having more fun punching holes in those cans than I would have thought possible. The "standard" Red Ryder is just big enough for adults while still kid-friendly, and mine has surprisingly good accuracy, or at least better than I remember. I made some changes (removed anti-beartrap & worked on the trigger springs) to smooth it out a bit, but it's also just been breaking in and improving on it's own.

    Things I would have changed:

I definitely wish these came with a slightly larger lever loop, metal or otherwise. The trigger is not great, but has improved with time.

    What others should know:

Dollar for dollar, there isn't a better casual shooting experience, especially since with a good soft backstop like moving blankets over cardboard, you can set up and shoot in a garage, backyard, basement, or anywhere else that can handle the occasional BB bouncing around.

    Things I liked:

A great piece of Americana that should be appreciated by every young boy or girl! This is the same gun that my dad bought for me in the 50's and that I bought for my boys in the 70's and 80's, and again for my 9 and 7 year old last month. Truly a classic, and perfect for teaching kids gun safety that will last a lifetime. Thanks Daisy!!

    Things I would have changed:

    Nothing

    What others should know:

It's accurate, and powerful enough to penetrate a can from 20+ yards. Don't misuse it or underestimate it.

    Things I liked:

Liked the lever action, the look and l the idea of a low powered plinking rifle.

    Things I would have changed:

I received a gun with a defective safety that that worked for a couple shots then would not unlock without moving it back and forth 10-15 times then would release only to lock up again. Pyramyd was kind enough to take it back. After spending an hour playing with it (I felt the need to test accuracy b4 I ordered a replacement) I only got off 20 shots due to the safety issue and the best it did off a rest was a horrid 6" grouping at 10 yards. I did not want a replacement. How can anyone ever improve their skills with this gun? For me accuracy is king and this rifle was lacking any.

    What others should know:

Save your money for something better. I know bbs are inherently inaccurate but a 6" group @10 yards is not fun.In my opinion this inaccuracy would frustrate new and old shooters alike. Seems like there would be a market for at least a semi accurate entry level spring powered BB air rifle. I would gladly pay double for a fun lever action plinking rifle that is capable 2" groupings @10 yards with BBs.

    Things I liked:

A great and wonderful teaching tool. I bought this gun for my grandsons to teach them the basics of gun safety, and basic shooting skills. I t has been a complete success. There has been no greater joy in my life to see them shoot their first target! That in itself far exceeds the cost of the gun. It is accurate. It will ricochet steel BB's even an occasional lead BB as well so shooting glasses are a must. This is the perfect gun for young girls and boys from age 8 and up. I love it.

    Things I would have changed:

For what it is made for nothing.

    What others should know:

Use lead BB's and safety glasses! We shoot the gun maximum about 25 feet. It will still sink a steel BB into our old fence. We have success old prescription bottles, paper targets, old soda cans, all with success. I can't say enough about teaching our children the basics and dangers of loaded weapons. Without exception this is the key to stopping accidental shootings in the home. Teach your children and grandchildren folks. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. When children learn gun safety at an early age they learn the value of life. Their curiosity of what a gun is has so much worth to it. I would not exchange on minute of fun this Red Ryder has brought into our lives.

    Things I liked:

We love our new Daisy Red Ryder , compared to the old Red Ryder we had, this one is way more powerful , Course the old one was over 50 years old... It is lighter then the old one .

    Things I would have changed:

It could use a little bigger slot/hole like the old red ryder to Pour the pellets in - this one you need to put them in by hand - not so easy to pour from the spout of the bottle of pellets

    What others should know:

These are not for kids , and even adults need to be careful with them. The Daisy has a safety latch on it - which is good as the old Red Ryder sisn't have that feature.

    Things I liked:

Very light, fast handling, fast loading and cheap to shoot. You can literally shoot hundreds of shots almost as quickly as you can cock the lever and it will only cost you a couple of quarters.

    Things I would have changed:

Accuracy is pretty marginal. Sights are only adjustable for elevation. I would gladly pay $150 more for a more accurate B.B. gun that I dont have to feed individual bbs from the muzzle. Make a hybrid Red Ryder/Avanti and Id order one in a heartbeat. Stock, while wood, looks like it was cut from a 1x4, (the sides are literally flat), and its too big for many children. This can be easily remedied with a saw however. For an adult its a little small, but Im a 6 footer and it doesnt bother me at all.

    What others should know:

This is the perfect tool for practicing instinct shooting. Hang a golf ball on a string, stand back 5 yards or so and shoot it repeatedly as quickly as you can. Your first shot will set it swinging and then it becomes a challenge. Accuracy is marginal and gets considerably worse with distance At 5 yards its pretty good. Expect about 1.5 inches at 10 yards. 20 yards is about the maximum range. Trigger is pretty good and given the accuracy limitations there is no reason to improve it. Same thing for the sights. The basic notch and post sight is great for fast instinctive shooting. It should however be adjustable for left and right. Mine was off about an inch at 10 yards. I bent it a little and that seemed to do the trick. Power is pretty anemic, but if thats important to you, then you should buy something else. Its made for hunting pop cans and power is adequate for that.

    Things I liked:

Complete newbie here and I got a RR because as a kid I shot them at summer camp. I'm 58. And because my girlfriend was a US Army sharpshooter in the Gulf War. She bought one too. We knew we would like to do backyard plinking and target shooting in my one car garage and had realistic expectations. Our expectations have been greatly exceeded. The accuracy in particular had shocked us. Tight target groupings at the length of the 1-car garage and I have been able to hit...and split...those small plastic soldiers with only a very rare miss. My GF then placed an earplug in the hole that was the bullseye of our target...and I nailed it on the first shot, with the BB embedded in the earplug. I was worried that the lack of a windage sight adjustment would be an issue, but not so. At the present time we don't feel the need to upgrade to anything more substantial because the RR is all we need for our small back yard and one car garage "range".

    Things I would have changed:

Maybe I got an exceptional sample but a windage adjustment would be a good idea.

    What others should know:

Just buy it. The low velocity makes it useful for fun shooting in situations where more powerful guns wouldn't be appropriate. and BB's cost a tenth of a cent.
