The model 46 has been on the drawing board for 4 years in order that we could refine and perfect the design before its introduction. Our goal was to create an airgun that would combine the best features from each of our airguns into one exceptional model. We firmly believe that we have achieved that goal in the Model 46. The 46 utilizes an underlever cocking system that evokes a modern, yet traditional appearance. The rifle uses a flip-up loading port which permits easy loading while still allowing the pellet to be directly inserted into the barrel, a feature proven to enhance accuracy. The underlever cocking system is a practical solution to enable the use of a fixed barrel for pinpoint accuracy, while keeping within the overall sleek lines of the rifle. Standard features include Monte Carlo hardwood stock with cheekpiece and rubber buttpad, automatic safety, adjustable rear sight, adjustable trigger, extended scope rail to accommodate a variety of optics, and a finely rifled barrel. The wide range of features, superb accuracy, and completeness of design makes the Model 46 perhaps our best all around airgun. Lifetime warranty.

Things I liked:

I have shot around 500 pellets in this gun and Ihave been getting groups of 1/2 to 3/4 with the crosman premier pellets. The gun is stable and accurate. Scope rail is long which is good.

Things I would have changed:

The gun is heavy with the scope, and there is not a practical way to install a sling.

What others should know:

A lot has been said about the Diana trigger but the way I see it is they have been doing the plastic trigger for years,so they know what they are doing. If you want a gun that is cheap to shoot and will double as a small game rifle,I would say buy this gun.I have the traditional break barrel guns but now the 46 will be the gun I will shoot with. The scope I have purchased works well on this gun. It is not moving the scope or rings. The thing that sold me on the rifle is the velocity rating. It is not what you would call scorching but it is just fine for small game out to 25-30 yards with the 22 cal. pellets.

Things I liked:

High quality. Clean design. Easy loading. Long scope rail. Easy-to-adjust rear sight. Excellent backing by manufacturer. Fast discharge, no twanging, no buzzing. Squeezing trigger doesn't disturb sight picture, allows for proper follow through.

Things I would have changed:

Replace plastic trigger with an aluminum trigger like the one found on Weihrauch rifles. Other plastics parts equate a four star rating.

What others should know:

My Model 46 is serial number 01248074. I also own the Stutzen model and a M46 in .177. With about 200 rounds through my M46/.22, I still have many more pellets to fire before my gun settles down. Right now, I have no problem grouping 3/4" at 20 yards with stock sights. This is large, heavy rifle, so I don't carry it around much. If you want to hunt small game and pests, let the critters come to you. I've ambushed a few pest starlings as they come to raid song bird nests. My M46 Stutzen and M46 in .177 have proved to be accurate and trouble free. I expect the same from my M46 in .22. I use my air rifles as alternatives to shooting my rim fire rifles--top quality pellets are much cheaper than 500 rounds of .17M2. I've set up a challenging course on my property consisting of Gamo field targets, ShatterBlast disks, water balloons, and on hot days, shaken cans of generic beer. My Model 46 in .22 provided lots on fun on my course, especially on the long distance targets. In summary, you can't go wrong a Diana air rifle. Wish the carbine version was available in the US. My 2001 Model 46 shoots smoother than my Model 46 made in 1996.
