Diana 460 Magnum Reviews

Everything. The big box stores just don't sale this type quality anymore. That being said, If you want power out of a Spring gun this is the rifle to get. At 25 yards shooting at paper targets it sighted in just fine with the iron sights. At my age my eyes are not what they use to be so, I am putting a scope on this rifle. I did use 1/2 plywood as my back stop and some of the pellets would go though the .500 plywood with ease at 25 yards. I didn't have a lot of options of pellets to shoot but, this gun did like the .22 Crossmen Premier Hollow Points in 14.3 grain and the .22 Gamo Red Fire at 15.4 grain. These are the only .22 pellets I could find in my area. I also loved the Under-lever on this Spring rifle, I had no problems cocking this gun at all, It was nice and smooth. Out of the box this Springer was nice and I didn't find any issues with it. Everything was tight with no rattles when I shook it.

The iron sights are a nice option to have but the front sight is a little thick for my liking. That being said, They still work well enough. Its nice to have the option to have a scope and sights if needed. It would great if the gun had the loops for a strap / sling, for this rifle is a little heavy if you plan to hunt with it on long hunts.

Thick front sight, heavy rifle for long hunts. Other then that, this rifle is a must have if you want power in my onion. This is my first Diana Spring rifle I bought so, I don't know how it comperes to the other Mag's like the 350 Diana. But you cant go wrong with the 460 mag.

Wow. Diana 460 Mag. It feels like a gun, loved the recoil,its put the fun back in air rifles. This feels like an air rifle from the 80s. But behaves like a rin fire rifle. Five shot zero in @ 35 metres. Golf ball size groupings. Took it back to 40 metres. Thinking I'd need to re zero for the same size grouping. Less than half a mil dot rise to be on centre.

Ok I personally love the recoil Not so keen on the plastic trigger or the front site.. they're both functional,just a slightly under par, with a gun of this power and accuracy.

Superb gun,if you want a gun that feels like a great gun,shoots accurately like a great gun,has consistant power like a great gun and looks like a great gun. Then the Diana 460 is that gun. Ps. I'm an archer Haven't used a rifle in 20 years.. This is what we wanted/ needed in the mid 80s. It's rekindled something, The HW 77 but with more power and greater accuracy.

I liked the 177 cal so much .I ordered one in 22 Cal haven't shot it much but seems verry accurate. no barrel droop. way cool. a little spendy but you get what t you pay for shoulders well sighted in in 4 shots 2 down & 2 left go figure

PUT A WEAVER RAIL ON THEM of course the rws lockdown mnt is only 35_40 bucks they match up with the rifles nicely.

Iv never had a problem with any RWS / DIANA products. plus there lifetime guarantee is kool

The safety, it works fine but seems to be a little flimsy to me, I’d like to see a better design for the safety.

I cleaned the barrel before I shot the first pellet through it and found the barrel to be fairly dirty, so yes, I’d recommend a good cleaning then enjoy your shooting time.

Great hunting springer with very good power. I have both the .177 and .22. The .22 is one of my 'go to' hunters along with my 350 .22. Not quite the fps/fpe of the 350 (on a chronograph, not guessing) but out in the field I can't really see the difference in power. One thing I like about it more than the 350 is that it is a bit more compact at 45 inches.

Im being picky here but a metal front sight. I have two Diana 470 (.177 and .22) and like the metal up front. The composite front sight does save some weight however as both 470 weigh a bit more than the 460s. Also it seems Diana factory springs tend to drop in power around the 5k shot count. I've had MANY Dianas and this is the norm. Better metallurgy of the actual spring?? I always have mone tuned right around that 5k shot mark.

Talked about this in my review of the 350 .22. A 4 for accuracy only because my TX200 .177 is the only "5" in accuracy I have. But for a mag springer it is HIGHLY accurate. Also scope mounting needs to be done carefully with Sportsmatch, UTG Pro (my #1 recommendation) or RWS Lockdown one piece.

Beautiful piece just like the first one I ordered. just as powerful as the last one This one seems to like hollow point pellets (crow mag etc ) beautiful piece of DEUTCH engineering. This one might become my hunter-pester yea ! 30 yards one ragged hole so Kool with a hollow point yet

would love to see this model with a nitro piston HINT HINT & as usual how about a weaver rail Maby? the squeaky wheel will get some grease. I see by the other reviews other people want them too. for this model.

this one only gets 980 fps. but I'm using heavier pellets to quiet it down a bit.

Beautiful wood-flawless metal work shoots just under advertised FPS by 50 fps (1,055) got another good one this is my 2nd one first one im running with iron sights only

nothing but RWS should finish there lockdown mount to match there rifles ( not as shiny as their rifles ) But still the best one out there. use them on a couple of my more powerful springers. Ruger air mag

Watch your belt buckles got a pressure dent on my first one from not watching out while cocking. & clean your barrels I use 2 shoot through felt cleaners and a POINTED pellet do that twice & your barrel should be verry clean.& then again after every tin of pellets pull through bore cleaners work verry well too just not as easy

I am a novice gunner who liked the trigger, and smooth operation and accuracy of this gun. So easy to shoot straight.

I didn't like the checkering because it was too far from the breech and no use for me. It was slippery to hold. The breech where you load the pellets has no bottom so if you drop a pellet it falls through and gets loss in the gun and having to hold it upside down and shaking it to find the pellet is a hassle. Also if you use a high powered scope it impedes with loading because now the rear sights gets in the way of loading.

I'm new to air gunning and I know this rifle is highly rated so please take into consideration that I am a novice and my comment may not be significant.

The rifle has good power and an excellent trigger. This makes it extremely easy to be accurate. I'm a novice and started shooting about 3 months ago. I have collected 7 rifles so far with most of them in the magnum class. Gamo, Hatsan, and Diana. They all are extremely accurate but don't have the trigger this gun has. The Diana 460 and Hatsan 155 are my favorites and they both shoot Crossman 14.3 pellets.

I prefer the hold of the Hatsan when I shoot because my left hand slides off the Diana because the checkering is too far up . I prefer to hold closer to the trigger.

This is truly what an air rifle should be. It is powerful, accurate and very easy to shoot. The Hatsan is very powerful, accurate but a beast to shoot. I now have Beauty and the Beast.

Has a very nice stock.

most of parts plastic. be very careful with cocking arm retainer it tends to let arm fall out of place and the gun will have catastrophic failure that Diana won't back up with warranty. Sights are plastic junk needs to be improved.

nice trigger, great consistent accuracy. I have the .22 version. it can strike a 10" target at 80 yards every time. makes 2" groups at 50 yards. awesome fun rifle. bought it to replace a .22 short backyard gun. and its close.

too much plastic. front sight looks cheesy in the pictures and is when you get it. Caulking lever is steel but the mechanical articulating parts are plastic which you cant tell from pictures. but they seem to be made of quality plastic.

only shot 200 pellets through it so far. durability is still to be determined.

Oh... My... Lord. Not only is the 460 Magnum a beautiful, well made air rifle, this thing is an absolute BEAST. I read a TON of reviews on many sites before deciding to make the purchase. They were overwhelmingly positive, but I saw many that claimed that Diana was straight up lying about velocity, and it wouldn't push any type of pellet supersonic. Maybe I got lucky and got one of the few "good" ones, but if anything I think Diana may have understated max velocity on the .177 version. I pulled out an old plastic box of Crossman Copperhead 7.9 grain pointed pellets straight off the shelf of Walmart from probably 15 years ago to test it out. I just got the gun this evening and have only put maybe 30 rounds through it, but every one of them were obviously supersonic with that very obvious sonic "crack" echoing through the woods. No special light weight alloy pellets required, just common everyday Walmart stuff. I'm thrilled with this thing!

If you want quiet out of this weapon, you're going to need heavier ammo to slow it down. The sonic crack is substantial with standard big box store ammo.

Well, the number 0ne thing I like about this gun is it's accuracy. The gun is beautiful, flawless construction, the bluing is excellent and this gun is so well balanced. I just got this gun yesterday, I took it down to my basement 15 yard range today to shoot it for the first time. I use the iron sights. I set the sights with about the first ten shots and then I put up a new target with 6 pieces of 3/4" square pieces of blue tape on white paper. I thought I could maybe hit half of these pieces, well I hit 5 out of the 6. But I noticed one thing, I hit all 5 in the lower right corner. The piece of tape I missed, I hit low and right missed by less the a 1/16th of an inch. I turned 80 years old a while back. This gun is accurate shooting 15.89s. And, of course, I kept this target, I don't normally shoot this well. haha

The front sight. I received the gun yesterday, looked it all over and the only thing I didn't like was the front sight. So, I cut a very small piece of yellow paper into what the front sight should look like and glued it to this gun's sight so that I now see a pointed front sight instead of the regular sight. I have a 350 N-TEC and it has a sight like a sight should be. Now I have the same in a bright yellow.

I have a dozen or more expensive air rifles, this Diana 460 is the most accurate at close ranges. You don't need a scope with this gun. This gun has it all, looks, power and ACCURACY.

This is a very nice air rifle, and I enjoy shooting it every time I get the opportunity. The accuracy is simply incredible. If I miss a target, it's my fault, not the Diana's. I have put about 1500 pellets through it, with out a hitch. I shoot this rifle with the open sights, and can keep a pretty tight group up to 50 yards or so. At that point my eyes start to fail me, not the rifle. At 20-35 yards, I can hold a group of around 3/8 of an inch if I take my time. I have a lot of shots stacked on top of each other at that distance. This is by far the best hunting springer I've ever shot!

The only thing I would change is the front sight. It hasn't really been a problem, I just don't care for the thickness, and the fact that it's plastic.I plan on taking a file to it, and shaving 10-15 thousands off each side.I would like to emphasize that fact that this sight hasn't been an issue with reliability, or repeatability, it's just my personal preference to have a thinner post, and made of metal.

I found that my 460 Mag likes the JSB jumbo exact 15.86 grain. It's a predictable and fast moving round, but still has good knockdown power. I'm willing to bet you could drop a koyote with this rifle/round combo. I am very pleased with the feel and performance of this. It's something I am proud to own, and brings me much satisfaction when smacking targets, one after another!

I'VE HUNTED WITH PELLET GUNS SINCE 1959, HAD MANY PELLET RIFLES AND THIS IS BEST I'VE HAD FOR HUNTING. MY 460 WORKS BEST ON FIRST COLD SHOT WITH JSB 18.13 GR. DIABOLO. AIR ARMS 18 GR & CROSSMAN HOLLOW POINT ALSO. I USE A SIZER & SCALE FOR FIRST SHOT PERFECTION.

YOU HAVE TO TRY ALL PELLETS & WEIGHTS TO FIND WHAT WORKS BEST. I TRIED & BROKE MANY SCOPES AND CAN WARN - ONLY BUY A LEUPOLD ONE TIME!

Make the front sight and trigger quality metal instead of plastic.

I don't know if I just got an exceptional one of if they are all like this but mine is a absolute tack driver out to 50 yards and I'm getting old so I'm not as good as I once was but still shoot 1 inch groups all day at 50. I've had my gun for a long time now so this is no quick assessment. Mine is 7 or 8 years old now with absolutely no problems. It loves the Crossman Premier Hollowpoints.

Accuracy was great, stock is beautiful, very nicely weighted when you hold it.

I had 4 of these in .22 cal before giving up on it, every one of them had an issue that the Crosman Premier domed pellets were falling out of the breach. When that happens it damages the breach seal and eventually the seal falls out resulting in huge valocity loss and loud bangs. Cocking effort is more like 45 lbs not 36 as they claim, maybe due to the short cocking lever?

It is a great gun when it works, I'm honestly bummed because I still want it but I wish Diana would pay more attention to details like described above. The one thing they got right in my opinion is the trigger, I can give up the Weihrauch trigger for the T06 any day.

Really like the Diana460, I Have had it gor a couple years Now, It is a Quality rifle, smooth shooting/cycle, quiet, accurate with a Williams Peep sight. This is a heavy gun. Keeping it light weight as possible was my priority, No scope. Fit and finish are very nice, bluing deep and dark, stock is Nicely Finished, great coloring of finish, and checkering is very nice, while the stock is Not ambidextrous, it is still very usable with Peep sights. While cocking effort is a little heavy, it is Not bad.

ambidextrous stock, Front sight is a Little to wide, But a fix is to use gun sight paint to paint a narrower vertical mark on the front sight, if you need it.

Stock sight radius is 16 inches, But with a Williams Peep Rear sight the sight radius is extended to almost 30 inches, and makes a Substantial difference. I have a Vortek spring kit that is ready to go into it soon.

I like the power of this .22 springer. Very accurate at the 30 yards I have available in my yard. Haven't tried anything longer yet. This is a very well made gun overall. Some things feel like they need more beef for the power this puts out, but after several hundred rounds, its still working fine. I bought this about the same time I got a .22 Diana 34. I've shot a thousand + rounds through the 34. The 460 is smoother and far more powerful. I'm more accurate with the 460, but that's likely because its smoother and my mastery of an artillery hold is only ok at best. I do have a tune kit for the 34 I haven't installed yet. I don't feel the need for a tune kit for the 460, at least until the stock spring breaks.

I wish the plastic "pivot" for the under lever were metal. That sure feels like weak point given the force involved. I've NO problems at all with this however.

I don't have a long or wide experience with springer pellet guns. I've always had a pellet gun. Only recently have any these been higher quality ones. Of the handful I've owned and dozen or so I've shot with some regularity, I prefer 460 to all of them. I like the accuracy AND the power of the 460. I'll probably still shoot the 34 more because I'll be plinking. But if I have to choose a Springer to kill a varmint in my yard or the pasture around the farm house at less than 50 yards, I'd grab this gun over all the other Springers I've shot. I've also recently gotten a .25 Gauntlet. Great, affordable PCP. Even with an accurate regulated PCP air rifle, I do not regret my purchase of either the 34 or the 460. The power of the .25 Gauntlet is great. I like having a repeater. I also like the idea, practicality and simplicity of a spring gun. The no contradiction in having and liking both.
