When I make holes threw Durarock for shower valves and toilet flanges I use a hammer to knock out the center and then use a utility knife to cut out to size and change blade. I was lazy so grabbed my knife out of my pocket and quickly and easily plunged this knife threw and cleared out the hole to my line cleanly. Scotch Brite my blade, still sharp. Good one.

Picked this knife up as I'm an avid knife collector and EDC fanatic. Loved the laser cut pattern and overall look of this knife. Overall I would definitely recommend it as one of the top budget EDC knives. Pros: • Solid framelock • Good EDC size • Stonewash blade hides scratches • Deep carry pocket clip • Textured scales give good grip • Very slim profile and lightweight without feeling small or poor quality • Can fit full hand on the handle Cons: • Detent is a little stiff, which makes it a little hard to snap open with the thumb studs • Bottom of framelock had a sharp edge to it • Lanyard hole is barely large enough for 550 paracord

Knife fits great in my pocket, its slim design is comfortable. It flips out easily with the thumb stud and even my small hands can put the blade away with one hand. Switching the pocket clip to the other side does require a very small hex bit (I think a T7) and ever since I switched it, I have to retighten it every so often. Lastly, it seems to not hold a sharp edge as long as I want but to be honest I don't really know what to expect with knives since this is my first one.

I bought this knife because my everyday carry knife, my old Gerber, was getting pretty dull and overused. I heard about SOG from Black Rifle Coffee and figured it would give them a try. I love this knife. It comes sharp as heck and it's a great weight. I love the handle, the grooves are so comfortable and it's so easy to grip. I love the thumb grip to flip the knife open, but wish it would be a slightly bigger for my meaty claws, but overall it's great. I will be getting another knife soon. Keep up the great work and I look forward to getting more from you guys!

Not worried about putting this knife to work, it's sturdy. I like the steel it is easy to keep sharp

Like all SOG knives the Flash FL is well made, using good steel for the blade, which arrives quite sharp. The description calling it "a simple, honest knife with a SOG Sharp blade" is certainly accurate. Also accurate is "no-nonsense, all-metal construction, frame-lock folder" but the description is not quite so accurate when it says "featuring thumb stud deployment." Yes, the Flash FL has a thumb stud on both sides of the blade. And, yes, you can get your thumb onto the stud while holding the knife in either hand. In fact, because this knife has a thumb stud on both sides, you can also get your index finger on the 'thumb' stud -- and if you expect "thumb stud deployment" you will probably want to get both your thumb and your index finger on the two sides of the stud to get that extra bit of strength to force the blade open. The scales have a nice notch on both sides, letting you get a good grip on the blade with your other hand -- which is a far easier and faster way to open this knife. This is simply not a knife you are going to open quickly and easily one-handed. It does get a little easier with use, but I'm not expecting it to ever be a knife I would count on for quick one-handed deployment. On the other hand, many will find this to be a positive characteristic because this knife is certainly not going to come partly open in your pocket. For most of us,quick and effortless one-handed opening of a knife is just showboating. How often does an extra half-second really matter? The textured flat all-metal scales provide a surprisingly good and comfortable grip. The liner lock is as solid as any liner lock (and a lot more solid than many). The knife features a short but secure pocket clip which is reversible to either side. The clip positions the knife tip up, deep in the pocket with only the clip showing. Overall, this is an excellent inexpensive EDC pocket knife for most people who just want a knife as a handy tool.
