I initially got both the Kiku and Kiku LTE to see which I’d like more. Even the the original feels significantly heavier, it still feels more balanced in the hand and it’s the one I preferred. Because of the carbon fiber, the action was not as smooth as the original with steel liners. There is a little more friction with the XR lock against the carbon fiber. Overall the LTE is a great knife and weight wise, you’ll forget you have it on you. If I hadn’t handled both I would have just loved the heck out of the LTE. But I kept the original just due to the over all balance and smoothness of the action vs the lightweight version. It just feels more rugged and that’s what I wanted.

I have three Kiku XR LTE folders (two heavy and one light). These are excellent CA knives because the general rule is use a three inch blade. In addition to conforming to local guidelines it is an excellent self-defense knife- ergonomic, sharp CTS-XHP blade, and one flaw. The opening options are a good idea but the opening hole needs to be larger and its awkward placement too close the handle. Thank you for the new models and I still like both of my Arcitechs ,San-Mai and all my VG10 blades.

Excellent knife. I've used it multiple times since receiving it, and the build-quality is amazing. Also, I can't get over the aesthetic - just how cool the knife is to look at! Every detail from the micarta, to the blade shape and angle, and even the carbon fiber touches. One (very) small gripe, however: The reviews I read prior to purchasing, said the knife was "buttery" smooth to open and close. But mine was sticking a bit right before it locked open, right out of the box. I think it's getting better know that I've opened and closed it over the course of the last couple weeks. Otherwise - great EDC knife. I'm keeping it.

It’s a beautiful knife but the quick release sticks like it’s locked. I bought this knife particularly for this feature. Now I’m forced to use XR to open. Needless to say I am very upset. This is my third SOG knife and most expensive one yet, sadly it probably my last.
