Bought this at big box store. Very light, deploys quick, good grip, good ergo, nice deep clip, I like the twin lock, so if left out, kids probably couldnt open it. A little hard closing out of the box, like a gritiness at 2/3 closed, will probably break in, maybe a little oil. Reminds me of my Bugout a little at a fraction of the cost.

Bought this knife about one month ago. It’s exactly what I thought it would be. A great every day knife that works well. No complaints here.

The knife has a good blade, it also has good safety features. What I don’t like is the fact that every couple days I have to tighten every screw on the knife because the handle get loose and the blade feels like it’s going to fall out. I’m very dissatisfied with the quality of the handle and I will not be buying another knife like this. It’s sad because I have never owned a knife that wasn’t a sog and now I don’t want to ever buy another sog knife after how disappointed I am In the quality of this knife.

By far one of the best knives ive bought under 50 bucks love the assist open and the open lock only issue i have is the blad does rust up some but cant complain for the price of this knife

feels cheaper than a dollar store knife. thin plastic. not sharp. light weight. just feels like cheap cheap.

If you're considering buying an SOG Flare, do yourself a favor and skip it. Mine came in yesterday and it feels like cheap junk. No metal liners in the boxy plastic handle. It feels incredibly flimsy. Lots of horizontal blade wobble right out of the package. The lock has a ton of play (seriously there is no reason for the lock slide to be that long it only moves 2/3 of the distance) And the assisted opening is sluggish compared to any of my other assisted openers.

I've owned CRKT, Benchmade, and Spyderco knives. This knife is comparable! I love it and for a fraction of the price of a bench made! Great EDC knife for a hardworking man on a budget. You go and buy a $250 benchmade and lose it, or someone steals it. Then you're out a huge chunk of money. Lose a $30 knife? Buy another one painlessly. This knife is made for the hardworking humble man, and it does its job!! Go SOG!!

I bought this as a replacement for a semi-serrated Flash II because of similarities in steel, the assisted opening, and size. After opening the knife I noticed that it was incredibly dull, the bevel was there but it hadn't been sharpened. The blade also had side to side wiggle. After sharpening the knife, tightening the pivot screw, and applying some lubricant it's working how I would like it to. If you don't mind putting in a bit of time to get the edge right and minor maintenance, it's a fine knife.

I bought the flare about 3-4 weeks ago and it did great for EDC but it came unsharpened and left me totally unable to clean the fish I had caught.
