Page 4 of 5 - SOG TAC AU Black Straight Reviews

Slim, lightweight, and I like the grip texture on the outside. The safety button makes it secure against accidental deployment. No wobble in the blade.

for the belt clip. The clip opening is too small to easily slip into a jeans pocket.

I own multiple SOG knives and this one is my favorite so far. I love the double-action AU-XR lock, and the automatic opening action is flawless and impressive. I have a SOG TAC-OPS automatic knife with black micarta handle scales, but the SOG-TAC AU aluminum scales are lighter, more comfortable, and need less maintenance. The titanium nitride finish on the blade is very attractive and durable, making the Cryo-D2 blade less susceptible to rust. All in all this is now my favorite automatic folding EDC knife. Oh, and the price is right too.

I purchased this for my EDC with high expectations based on many other SOG products I own. My reaction as soon as I took it out of the box was an immediate surprise that SOG outdid itself! The opening action was fast and smooth right out of the box and has improved with continued use. The blade arrived with a perfect edge, and it's held great with regular light to medium use levels. This is a deceptively light knife that's perfect for EDC, and the lock is low profile and requires just enough force to open that I'll never worry about somehow opening in my pocket. The clip is stiff enough to require a bit more pressure when pocketing the knife, but it feels like a higher quality, more durable clip than any of my other SOGs. Lastly, the lock is fantastic! There's not even the slightest bit of play, and it feels like a lightweight fixed-blade knife when open. I can't recommend this highly enough. I'm so pleased that I'm planning to grab the Tanto version and rotating what I carry daily!

Great knife. Nice size (I have large hands), sharp blade, light weight, thin and an easy operating ambidextrous switch for auto open function. I would definitely buy this again.

The older sog knife I have is better! Push button instead of slide to open! I didn’t realize that when I ordered a new one!

Beautiful quality, slim, smooth as silk operation, and sharp right out of the box! This has become my new go-to EDC.

This is a great knife, I order 1 and they day it finally arrived, I immediately ordered a second one.

As one would expect this knife is flawlessly finished and well tuned out of the box. It appears it will take a little "working in" to get the opening up to speed - my "assisted" blades (an Aegis AT and a Trident AT) are much snappier in response. Don't get me wrong- I really like this blade, and wish my state legislature was a little less timid about automatic knives.

Very good and tuff knife! Really smooth operation. Knife fits in my larger hands very well. Use it for my EDC more than any other knife!
