The Hawke vantage 3x9x40 is an amazing scope for the price!. I have one on my diana bandit and I have hit a nickel at 105 yrs. I can see where the pellets hit, and I like being able to do that @ 100+ yds.

If you're using a heavy Springer, get the 3x9x40 air max its spring rated.
The clarity and quality of the scope is perfect as advertised. Using the adjustable parallax and eyepiece focus you can achieve crystal clear site picture.
I have other (expensive) sfp Hawke scopes that I love but this little guy should have been a ffp scope. Otherwise please enlarge the mildots just enough that they can be seen.
The mildots are Miniscule. I call them 'nil dots'! If you are a hunter or one that uses holdover you will have a big problem finding your holdover mildot even on the highest magnification (9x in my case). Also I like a thin line reticle but this one is hair thin. If mildots are important to you get a UTG or something with a thicker reticle. For me, I going to create a range card based on turrent clicks at the few distances I'll be shooting.

I have three of these scopes and have had no issues with any of them. Have been using them for years and love the reliability. I cannot recommend them enough. I do not think you can find a better scope with these features and quality at this price point.

The mil-dots are very small, could be twice the size would make them noticeable. Also at the cross hairs of the reticle could have a dot a couple of sizes bigger than the mil-dots so you have something visually to lock on.
If you have a Gamo Swarm Viper 10x Gen3i and are thinking about getting this scope, it will work with the stock RRR one piece scope mount. Barely. With the AO turned all the way down to 30ft. (10 yds.) which turns it all the way out, you have 1/16" of clearance of where the barrel breaks to the front of the scope. I don't know if it will work on any of the other 10x Gen3i series.
Nice clear glass. Mildots are not too large for precision holds. The turret clicks are precise and nice and the Adjustable Objective rotates just right.
Hawke really needs to put turret MOA numbers on their turrets. This allows you to use this scope on other rifles to dial MOA value on windage and elevation. I'm disappointed in Hawke for being too cheap to do that. The turret dial is about 3/16" so you can't put a turret tape on it for dialing or numbers. Come on Hawke, fix this!
There's no MOA click value numbers on Windage and Elevation under turret caps.

The Hawke name, quality, ease of use, mil-dot reticle, and clear bright image. I really liked the no-tool turrets feel, and click feedback. AO focus index is right-on! Good instruction manual.

This is an entry level scope that performs better than I was expecting on my entry level PCP Gamo Arrow, which is also better than expected.
Very good scope. It lives up to its reviews.
Cannot think of any changes I would make to this quality scope as of yet.
The 3x12, or 4x12 model is available for a minimum extra price. Good to know if you need that extra range.
