First off, I love this pistol. I had a rough start with this pistol, because I tried to use Crosman co2 powerlets in it. DO NOT DO THAT!!! Use Umarex cartridges. You'll blow out the seal on the mag. I had no idea that this would be a problem, but after sending the magazine back to umarex, I was informed about this. Once this was resolved, it performed extremely well. I own a real 1911 commander in 45 ACP, and my local range is 45 minutes away, so this is a great training option. I can consistently hit a tin can at 11 yards, or 33 feet, first shot. And when I went to the range with my real pistol, my skill was much improved. Plus, it in the event of a jam or loose BB in the slide, it breaks down just like a real 1911, and is easy to clear. I've been very happy with this gun for more than a year. Great job, Umarex! (Plus their customer service, although a little slow, was excellent). The Novak style sights are very good, and easy to pick up, even with my 55 year old eyes.
I would be sure to say up front to use only Umarex CO2 cartridges, or you will regret it. That info should be visible in the online description, and on the packaging. I only put a few mags through it before the seals went, then I had to wait for a repair. Plus, the length is not really commander length, rather it's a full size 5 inch, but that's nit-picking. It might be nice to have a rail on it, but that's also just for fun. Other than that, I can't think of anything else.
This gun will hold it's gas for a long time, and really does not use much, considering it has a moving slide. I shoot about 1 or 2 shots every night after dinner, just to keep sharp. I just put the safety on and put it in it's case. Buy a second magazine if you can. And learn how to break it down to remove the slide, so you can clear the occasional loose BB under the slide. Maybe someone should make a youTube video showing how to do this, but it's easy. I love this pistol. It's saved me hundreds of dollars in gas, time and ammo, and really is good practice. It's even good for holster drills, and it's less likely you'll blow your toe off. :-)

If want a true replica buy this and as much CO2 and BBs that you can! I use this to practice with instead of using my Browning 1911 compact 380cal for carry! Saves a lot on ammo!

The fact that its full metal and has a hefty weight to it.
If it can be a full auto Colt Commander 1911, which i know won't happen, but other than that, i wouldn't change anything else.
When it comes to field stripping for cleaning/maintenance purpose, it can be a struggle to assemble it back together, especially with the spring, very stiff, but give it time, you'll get the hang of it.
Looks, heft and feel. It handles like the real thing except a little lighter. I also have the real 1911.
Take the warning lettering and move it to the frame in very small letters.
To get the gun to function properly I had to disassemble it and lube it. However it has a few hang ups. When I shoot 5 or 6 rounds the slide goes to the rear like it is the last round. Also when I put in a new co2 cartridge I have to fire the gun 4 or 5 times before it actually sends a bb down the barrel.
Very accurate replica to a real Colt 1911 with some customized features. I'm glad it's not "Commander"? length (1/2" shorter) as the name implies as I like it being a standard full sized 1911 model. Controls, functionality, dimensions, etc., are very detailed and accurate. It's not only just good fun to have a blowback replica bb pistol, but also good practice for real pistol shooting skills.
A few things for me. 1.) Remove the engraved warning paragraph on the right hand side of the slide. I almost didn't purchase do to it, and yeah it really is detracting from this beauty. 2.) The plastic gas nozzle system in the slide has some loose plastic nib thingy moving around that rattles (noisily) around or back and forth which sounds odd and cheap. 3.) Make the sights drift adjustable for side to side windage. Mine shoots off to the right a good bit with all bbs used so far. -These are very minimal gripes, but things I would change.
While there are a lot of decent 1911 replica bb pistols available, this Colt seems like a better overall model/value when you take into account all the features, aesthetics, functionality and price. For me, this gun turned out better (very satisfied) than I thought it would be, compared to the recent revolver replica purchases I've made. Ymmv.

Weight and feel close to the powder burner version. Very handsome look. Easy take-down. Black coloring is nice. Classic 1911 that would be right at home in a Humphrey Bogart movie. All metal construction. Has great white dot sights.
Adjustable targeting sights would have been great. The grips were good and felt good but wood simulation and brownish in color would have been better. CO2 consumption is heavy but is the cost of the realistic blowback.
I changed the grips to dark brown wood on my Commander the day after it arrived. I had to hollow out the wood grips to compensate for the CO2 cartridge thickness but it was worth doing. I was able to get good power and shots in two full clips and kept the pattern within a 2" bullseye regularly at the 23 foot distance of my home range. Shooting specs on my Caldwell Chrony were: Hi Velocity 312 fps, Lo Velocity 300 fps, Range: 12, Mean Velocity 305 fps. Standard Deviation: 3.49. Performance was, in my opinion, pretty good. As a reminder, blowback pistols are meant for plinking fun, not for serious target accuracy. My Colt shot consistently below and a little off to the right but it was fairly easy to compensate. I own a number of 1911 replicas. The 1911 is my favorite model and the Commander is a great addition to my collection. If you like 1911s you should go for this one.

True to the form. Accurate at 10 yards. I like the full blowback. Excellent training gun. I've not experience any jams, or for that matter, other than the problem engaging the thumb safety.
I'd like to be able to replace the fixed sights with Trijicon "Night Sights", so easy to do! Mine came in a plastic "clam shell" packaging. VERY difficult for me to take the gun out of it and I cut myself twice while trying to extract the pistol from it.
Wear eye protection because BBs ricochet. When I first used it, I inserted ASG Ultrair 12g CO2 Air Cartridges for BB Pistol and Airguns. They have silicone oil in them and lube the entire insides of the gun. I use one of these cartridges the first time I load the gun and about every 10 magazines full. ("an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". ) Occasionally, I put a TINY bit of silicone oil on the BBs in their "track" of the magazine. I could not engage the thumb safety. Maybe "cockpit error". I recommend this CO2 pistol for training and target practice/"plinking". This gun should be treated with the respect that a powders burner requires. It is not a toy. Do not leave it anyplace that is accessible by "youngsters"
