First-class replica of a 1911A1. Feels exactly like the real thing. Functions very much like the real thing. Recoil about the same as a similar-sized .22 pistol. Excellent for practice in using a 1911A1. It's not easy to shoot this pistol accurately, but "easy" isn't the point with a trainer, right?
It's a challenge to shoot this pistol well. Trigger is heavy and mushy. It's also a challenge to load. I drop almost as many bb's as I get into the magazine. I am going to try the Umarex loader tool to see if this helps. I'm not sure about the gun's inherent accuracy. Mine groups a little to the right, which is not a problem. I will try drifting the rear a few taps to the left (you can also hold left to compensate). Reguires a 6 o'clock hold. I have to WORK at keeping my shots on a 2" x 2" post it note at 25 feet.
This gun serves a very specific purpose. It allows 1911 shooters to train on their chosen platform cheaply, fairly quietly and conveniently. Be prepared to WORK at making this gun shoot. It's not easy and because loading is a bear it's not particularly "fun" either. Personally, I'm not shooting for "fun" so this gun meets my expectations. Conclusion: It's an outstanding training tool. It is NOT a toy. Also, it looks and acts like a "real" gun, so please be careful. Neighbors and police will NOT be able to tell it's a bb gun.
A good approximation of the real ColtCommander (which I own and fire regularly) but economical and convenient to shoot. The recoil generated by the slide requires the same attention to grip as the .45 in order to achieve accuracy.
Adjustable sights would be nice.
A touch of silicone plumbers grease on the bottom on the CO2 cartridge makes seating much easier.
Everything!!!! I didn't expect this nice of a product. I bought this to help my wife with technique and handling, and has all the little details that make a training tool truly useful. That's what this thing is folks, the absolutely perfect training tool for any 1911 weapon.
NOTHING!!!!! PLEASE..... NOTHING!!!!!
Buy extra magazines. We're using this as a defense training tool, and under rapid fire conditions the CO2 will cool down drastically. Treat the mags like real ones.... Empty it, dump it, load a new one, repeat... Like I said, this an awesome, perfect replica.
Look and feel, basic operation pretty good
Takes a break in period to get it to work properly, not there yet but getting better Magazine loading should be improved, could easily load from the bottom instead of the top which is clumsy.

I love it. Great feel, accurate, field stripable. Just a great little airgun!
Get rid of all that white garish writing, make it a full gray steel-like color and only make the Colt logo white.
I used a Sharpie to cover the white writing but you can get a bluing pen from a gun dealer, it looks just like a Sharpie but with a little work you can blacken the white lettering. Get at least 1 extra clip!
all metal
make it a double/single action trigger, no blow back needed
The Colt Commander CO2 Pistol give you the same exact performance as the Daisy PowerLine 415, but minus the fiber optic front sight and at 3.5 times the cost. How cool... !
This is by far my favorite BB gun. Blowback action is full cycle, powerful and realistic action, well balanced and accurate at 25 feet. I have over 6 thousand rounds through this gun. Helps keep me in good practice for the real thing.
I have swapped the grips for a brown, though I would love to have "real" Colt logo grips.
Firing too fast in humid weather can freeze up the CO2 cylinder, causing some reliability issues with the blowback action. I sometimes alternate to a second magazine set up with a second CO2 cylinder to let things warm up if I'm planning on shooting a lot.
This is a very well made 1911 copy , mostly metal , trigger is very light and pistol feels good in the hand. This colt commander is one of the most accurate co2 B.B. pistol I have to date and I have seven blowback B.B. guns . I shoot at a range of 30ft off a bench and umarex steel bbs are giving the tightest group .Using the six oclock hold is dead on at that distance. Money well spent cannot go wrong with this purchase.
Make rear sight adjustable for windge
Real 1911 grips will fit with slight modifications to the back of grips to clear for co2 cartridge using a dermal tool.
Also would recommend removing slide from gun and lube slide rails with a good gun grease. Oil all metal to metal moving parts with Crosman Pelagun oil .
Looks and feel of a real 1911. Very accurate right out of the box, I like the blow back. I read all the reviews on this pistol, that's why I bought this gun, reviews were very helpful. Excellant gun.
Maybe better grips.
Use only Umarex CO2's with the rounded bottoms, other CO2's with flat bottoms and the seal will leak, I read this on the CO2's from other peoples experiance with the gun.

Weight, feel and blow-back action replicates a true 1911.
Better system of loading BB's More CO2 power allocated to BB velocity and less to recoil/blow-back action Less sensitive slide lock lever- see comments on "things to know"
As other reviews have mentioned, disregard the loading instructions (loading from the top) as it is very difficult to force-feed BB's and time-consuming. Pull back the mag spring button and load from the bottom opening. Even that process is a pain as it will tear up your fingernails after repeated loading. There needs to be a spring retention slot BELOW the opening to hold the spring back. IF YOU ARE A LEFT-HANDER: be aware the slide will lock back after every shot (like when the mag's empty) and be manually released for each succeeding shot. I had this issue with two of these pistols. It must be shot right-handed to function correctly. Also, while the blow-back action is impressive, it is more forceful than really needed and some of the excess power could have been allocated to BB muzzle velocity. All in all, what could have been an excellent 1911 replica suffers from some serious flaws, hence the two star rating.
