Great price, completely tunable, lots of upgrades available, great entry level gun and beyond
The plastic stock is a big problem that I will discuss more below. This is available in a wood stock version for about $70 more and it is worth going with that gun. If you just shoot from a bench and don't mind zeroing your scope each time you shoot the plastic stock is okay. But if you hunt and bump the gun and use bipods go with the wood stock - it is worth it.
When you install bipods on the front picatinny you run the risk of moving your point of impact left or right...sometimes by several inches. This was very frustrating since we use this gun for hunting rabbits. I ended up shaving the forearm piece to completely float the air tank (which is connected to the barrel shroud by a band). I also disconnected the front picatinny rail that links the bipods to the barrel band. By doing this I isolated the bipods and the forearm piece from the barrel shroud. I could now deploy my bipods and fold them up; I could bump the bipods and it would not affect or torque the barrel shroud. By doing all this I pretty much eliminated the left and right point of impact shift I was seeing each new shooting day. I then purchased the wood stock and just installed that. I have not shot the gun yet, but it is much more solid and I believe this is the way to go with the Avenger. Buy the wood stock version and you will have an incredible gun.
Easily adjustable regulator and hammer spring. Very accurate. High shot count. Not pellet picky. (1 star rating for the .22 cal avenger. My .25 cal avenger is 5 stars all the way)
Better Quality Control. More accurate air pressure gauges for both reservoir pressure and regulator pressure. An allen wrench for both degassing and hammer spring should be included.
My first avenger in .25 cal was nearly perfect. No problems or issues.......
My second avenger in .22 cal was a big headache. Action was stiff to cycle. Bolt probe O rings were chewed up by cycling action only 3 times. Single shot tray would not seat properly, causing O rings to shred when bolt was cycled. Reservoir pressure gauge was off by 200 to 500 psi at different points of pressure during fill. Regulator pressure gauge would not maintain a steady reading. Varied wildly from shot to shot. And finally, the reason I sent it back for an exchange, it would not hold pressure. Filled reservoir to 4300 psi. After less than 72 hours the pressure had gone down to 2900 psi. Pyramyd Air issued an RMA # right away.

Verified BuyerAbout 5 years ago I decided to buy my first PCP Air Rifle so I asked an expert at PA what would be a good PCP to get me Into the realm of PCP Air Rifles, I believe the expert Is named Nicholas M. He recommended the Air Venturi Avenger I chose the .22 model and Nick told me that at the price point ($300-$500 )the Avenger would be a good entry level PCP Air Rifle. The Avenger has a lot going for It, It has a Regulator and Is very accurate. Build quality and reliability seems good and It's pretty light (Synthetic Stock) and easy to handle. LOP Is perfect for me too I'm 6' 1" tall.
I have purchased a few of these since I bought my first one a few years ago and on a few occasions the muzzle cap can be quite tight so I would advise having the guys at the PA work shop loosen the muzzle cap If your planning on Installing a Moderator Adapter!
Great entry level PCP but you would need an Electric Compressor or a Scuba Tank to fill It so keep that In mind If you buy one, a hand pump will take you quite a while and a lot of energy to fill It!

Verified BuyerThe overall package is really hard to beat for the price. You get a crazy accurate regulated rifle 50-60 shots per fill with a butter smooth action. The rifle is high quality and the synthetic stock keeps the price low and reduces weight, you can even buy the wood stock separately so you can switch it out depending upon your user application. Bench rest shooting go with the wood, hunting go with the synthetic! This rifle really impressed me and I’m just getting started shooting it. Out of the box half to 3 quarter groups all day long at 50 yards, with a little tuning and the right pellets I think it will shoot even tighter consistently. You won’t be disappointed with the Avenger especially if it’s your first pcp. One tip for you if you get one is your optic. Get a good one I recommend atleast a 4x12 but preferably a 6x24 to stretch it out as this rifle is very capable. I love my Marauder but after shooting the Avenger I have to say hands down this is the best one I’ve shot so far!

Buy lots of different pellets for testing and install a good optic.
IF..IF.....IF you are lucky enough to get a regulator that works, the gun is very accurate. I have a Terminador kit installed ( a-tec frame, barrel stiffening donuts, short dog moderator) all from mr Drake out of Utah on Ebay. This guy knows his stuff !!!
The hammer spring setup is the achilles heel of this gun. it needs to be re-designed.
I fill pressure to 250 bar and set reg at 120 bar for 1 ragged hole at 25 yds. (jsb 15.89 or 18.31). velocities are low ( i don't have a chrony ), but who needs power when you can put it in his eye. Filling pressure to max drives the reg. bananas and POI goes all over the place no matter where the hammer spring is set. I use 4 turns in for the softer loads. I think i have at least 9k rds. thru this bad boy and the trigger is still excellent. Go to youtube and look at Mr Terminador videos.

This is my first PCP air rifle and I have been very impressed with it. My first one had a leak and I had to return it but Pyramyd Air made the return easy.

The gun is fine the way it is for the price point. Would like to see a better shot count . But that issue is solved now they have avenger x out now.
Looks cheap but if ur wanting accuracy you can not go wrong with this gun

As my first PCP rifle I can say I'm quite happy. Holds air with no loss after a week. At 200' I consistently hit my 2" targets. I'm shooting several different pellets, sizes and shapes. I highly recommend this rifle.
The ability to add as larger air tank would be great, but as I'm getting duct shots or tank this one is fine.
Nothing beats this rifle at this price point. There are several versions with this one being the base unit. I believe at higher price the tank is larger and/or interchangable.
