Howard Cline: I love the Airacuda Max in .30 but it's loud. Have you used a moderator on yours? What ammo works best for you?

I received my second max in 30 caliber from Pyramid Air a couple of months after I returned the one that would clip the moderator. I am extremely ecstatic that the one I received none only is exceptionally accurate and shot to shot consistent in velocity as was the one that clip the moderator, but the one I receive now does not clip the 35 caliber Ronin moderator. So apparently there was several matches that had the manufacturing defect that resulted in clipping moderators however that apparently has been resolved because I don't have that problem with my replacement 30 caliber max and I absolutely love it. To me, it is good in accuracy and velocity consistency is any of the other PCPs costing three or four times as much. And cost was not a factor in my decision to by the Max 30 caliber. I never shoot more than 100 yards and while quite obviously it's not as powerful as several of the more expensive 30 caliber air guns, it's accuracy and velocity shot to shot consistency are very appea

Yes, it is a "tack driver". It's very loud (.30 cal) and no one can tell me that it won't clip a one-size-up moderator. i.e 35 cal moderator for .30 cal airgun. Support said that they don't have a moderator to test it with and they don't sell moderators. I offered to send them one to test with .30 Airacuda Max and they declined. Does anyone here have a Airacuda Max in .30 and has used a moderator without clipping?

It seems that previous batches had a reflective crown on the barrel. The defective crown resulted in clipping moderators. That seems to have been resolved inasmuch as my recently purchased Airacuda Max in .30 did not clip moderators. Previous ones in all calibers did clip. JTS was no help at all and their support is non-existent. JTS refused to even admit that there was a moderator problem (now solved, at least in my recently purchased Airacuda Max in .30). While Ayramid Air provides exemplary support with great staff, don't count on JTS for anything.

Update 1 Dec 2023: YIPPEE ! I'm happy to say that the 30 caliberAiracuda Max that I ordered last week arrived a few days ago and I cleaned it and filled it with air and left it overnight to see if it leaked and it did not leak. I then installed a Ronin moderator from DonnyDL in 35 caliber, one caliber up in size from the 30 caliber, and I'm pleased to say that the Max in 30 caliber did not leak and did not clip the moderator and was as usual, extremely accurate. I am so happy! Pyramyd Air was extremely helpful through this process. Don't even THINK of buying anything airgun related from anyone else.

Update 28 Nov 2023: I did return my Airacuda Max .30 over the clipping of moderators problem and JTS's refusal to even admit that there is a problem or reply to emails etc. BUT anyway, Pyramyd Air refunded me in full and I just today bought another Max in .30 with an "offer you cant refuse" Black Friday deal. I am hoping that the barrel alignment with the breech issue causing clipping has been resolved in the batch that my new one was made in. If not resolved, I'll do whatever it takes to replace barrel/breech on my own. SO: If you have a clipping problem, based on my own experience, don't expect JTS to resolve it. Just return your defective Airacuda to JTS demanding repair of manufacturing defect., Otherwise Pyramyd Air will make it right

As of 1 Dec, my NEW Airacuda Max in .30 did NOT clip the DonnyFL Ronin .35 caliber moderator!

Because of the moderator clipping problem that I had with the .22 and .25 cal Airacuda Max, I returned them for a refund. Pyramyd Air is the only place to shop for anything re airguns. Good pricing, very fast shipping, testing before shipping an airgun is an expensive option offered ny Pyramyd Air. Best customer service policies in the industry (Satisfaction guaranteed for 60 days). Pyramyd Air is an exceptional company with exceptional people at all levels (my experience)

The pin that pushes the pellet into the chamber is bent, so with the magazines, it does not chamber correctly. I'm stuck single loading, and I've contacted JTS, but they keep giving me a number to call, and no one ever answers my email or returns the call. I'm starting to get mad, but I'll keep trying. If they respond and fix the issue, I'll give an update. Other than that its a great gun and very accurate at 50 to 100 yards

Update on the gun with fx atomic pellets in 22 cal I killed a dove at 75 yards and 100 yards. I love the jts airacuda so much. The finish tho on were I rest my cheek seems to be coming off.

The muzzle cap won't unscrew because it is LocTite'd on. Butane torch or heat gun (torch is best) to remove. Pyramyd's support can give you more details on why it is LocTite;d on and best way to remove it and use of a moderator.

Typo: Testing b4 shipping is an INexpensive option not "expensive option", my bad.

The regulator IS adjustable. See YouTube videos. It's not difficult. BUT THAT SAID, no need to to adjust it or adjust the hammer spring. It's very accurate with the pellet you mention as it comes out of the box (after a thorough cleaning). Enjoy !

Wow! JTS customer service has been incredible! I contacted them about the faulty pressure gauge, and received a replacement gauge in 3 days! Travis was amazing! They gave me his directline when my gun started leaking air on the fouth day, and he directed me to a video with an easy fix! Love this company! I hope Pyramyd continues to do business with companies like this!

As of 18 November 2023 there has been no solution offered by JTS for the clipping of moderators problems with Airacuda Max and JTS won't even tell me what is the cause of this clipping or even that such "clipping of moderators" even exists.

you might go with a 30 cal mod on the 25 cal gun. The little extra room should help with clipping.

Sep 1 2023. As to the moderator, the problem is not with the moderator it's with the Airacuda Max, and JTS has a solution for that, coming very shortly.

You are not "screwed" if you have a problem with the Airacuda Max and cannot fix it yourself. The warranty covers such issues and JTS will repair or replace the airgun under such circumstances.

Sep 1 2023 update. While I could not get parts for my trigger group from JTS or Pyramyd Air, they did replace the trigger group or repaired it when I sent it to them. And they didn't charge me anything even though the problem was due to my own fault. I have experienced excellent customer service from JTS and Pyramyd Air. So I would've changed it to five stars, but there was no option for editing my review. This is my favorite air gun and I have compared favorably , in terms of accuracy, to air guns costing 3 to 5 times as much of distances up to 100 yards. Out of the box with no adjustments I had pellet on pellet at 10 m and about 3/8 of an inch at 33 m. I highly recommend this gun, I do suggest the Max version because it is regulated and will give you more consistent shots. The rifle is easy to repair. I think JTS is worried about the liability of letting consumers fix their own issues. It is way too expensive to ship the rifle to them. I have 30+ air rifles and pistols and have rebuilt a lot of them, as needed.

I bought a .25 barrel from JTS in August 2023 from JTS. It was for my neighbors rifle. He had several pellets stuck in the barrel that we could not clear. It was not easy to get the barrel. JTS decided to sell us one after several emails. It sounded like they had a meeting and decided it was ok to sell us one.
