I agree with Burke. This is for target work, NOT hunting. If it has enough power to get the pellet to a 25 yard target (it does easily!), then you don't need more! Think of it this way....you will use this gun to practice a lot so you can improve your shooting. Then go with some thing more powerful for hunting. IMHO the ONLY pistols powerful enough for hunting are SOME pcp pistols. I am not saying you can't kill small game like squirrels, rabbits, and small birds with non pcp guns, just that you shouldn't! I value a clean certain kill over bragging rights to the least powerful pistol I can kill small game with!

This is a match pistol. How much power do you need to poke a hole in paper at 10 meters?

You will not find a safety on any match rifle or pistol. Having to deal with a safety during a match would be a distraction. If you have reached a level where you are shooting match rifles and pistols, it should already be deeply ingrained into your mind to always handle with care.

If you can find an IZH-46M. The Obama administration screwed us all when they banned all imports from the Baikal factory.

Another note: This gun is WAY more accurate than most of us can shoot! If you cannot do well at a standard 10 meter pistol target with this pistol, you WON'T with the Izzie either!! So if you got lots more money than most of us, buy the Izzie for the pride of ownership. But if you are a little short on what it takes to buy an Izzie, buy this and it will serve you well!! This is a nice gun at a fair price. Another thing, PA don't sell the Izzie, just repair parts for it? Hmmmnnnnn...are they telling us some thing? Simply put, this gun will suffice for even the most demanding target shooter unless you are competing at Olympic levels.! So for the average guy or even a fairly good target shooter short on cash, this gun is a good buy and a good performer! Also, this gun gets fairly close to advertised velocities, which is unusual, as most manufacturers exaggerate! Kudos to Gamo for honesty! Not that velocity matters much for a target gun!

My bad. Error! This gun IS made by Gamo! And I believe it bears a resemblance to the Gamo Compact because it IS a Gamo Compact with a better barrel and better grips! Just my best guess there! But it IS made by Gamo! So I was wrong and my humble apologies!

When you shoot with a gun that you know is a bit more accurate than another, and do you miss the bullseye by 2mm, then you know it was you that missed and not the gun. With the other gun, your not so sure. Accuracy is everything. Yes, I own an Izzy and love it.

Note the Izzie now sells for $599.99, and I doubt most of us could get any better accuracy with it than this less expensive pistol. So unless you are actually competing and finishing in the top 5, forget the Izzie and get this gun!

Time passes and prices do change... It should be noted, seven years later that the Izzie now sells for considerably more than twice the price of the Gamo.
