TenPoint Crossbows Phantom De-Cock Reviews

I bought the new crossbow two weeks ago. As of today, I am completely unhappy with the product. I bought the crossbow for my son as I thought it was a great name Brand. Last weekend we took the bow out for the first time decided in, and my son noticed that one of the lower cables was frayed and almost broken. Please keep in mind. We took it out one day to the range and shot it. We took it back to the dealer that we bought it last week and we still haven’t heard anything. They said the cables may not be covered under warranty. I shot the bow once and now I don’t even know what I have. Completely disappointed so far. I was going to buy one for myself next year. I may get a Barnett instead.

This is my third crossbow, so I knew what to expect. This one is extremely accurate at 20 and 30 yards, which is all I have tested it at so far. I won't know how durable it will be until I've used it more, but with Tenpoints reputation, I'm not worried about it. Very happy with the design, size and speed. Rated at 400 fps, actual average of 5 shots was 398 fps. Pretty darn close! I don't believe any crossbow is truly "quiet" but this one is slightly quieter than my last one. Speed makes up for noise. I truly love the cocking and de-cocking feature, so easy on my 82 year old body. The one feature I'm very disappointed with is the trigger. It's advertised as "Two-stage, zero creep, 3 1/2 pound pull". This is very misleading. As I squeeze the trigger, it continues to move until it fires. So you don't know when it's going to fire. There is no second stage. A true 2-stage trigger has creep first then hits a wall, and fires as you press through the wall. Average of 5 trigger pulls was 4.4 pounds, not 3.5. In the advertising video, every time it showed the trigger being pulled, it was never squeezed. It was always jerked and fired in one quick motion. Not good for accuracy. The trigger is the reason I'm rating this bow as a 4 and not a 5. Just telling it like it is.

This being my first crossbow I don't have anything to compare it to but out of the box it was very easy to setup and shoots great. Hunting season starts in about a month and I'm excited to get it out in the woods and hopefully put some meat in the freezer. The only problem I've had so far is my montec fixed blade heads hit about 2 inches high at 20 yards. My expandiables hti dead on so I guess I'm going to go with them this year.

Very impressive first day with my first crossbow ever. It took less than a dozen arrows to site in scope for groups of a couple inches at 30 yards with the wind howling. Smooth, quiet, comfortable and confidence builder for someone who has never shot one. Do recommend the xl tripod as well, incredibly lightweight and robust. The crank cock and de-cock are such a relief and work better than any of the videos out there could to do it justice. Safe and trouble free. Highly recommend to anyone interested or on the fence, a must have for sure and so glad I did.

This is my first crossbow and I loved it. I'm 81 and bow hunting since I was 10. I'm loosing strength so I can't pull a 70# bow any more so I was interested in finding a replacement bow strong enough for elk hunting. The Phantom impressed me with both accuracy and what appear to be adequate penetration for elk hunting. The trigger was smooth and the shooting was fun. Unfortunately the cable abraded early and I had to return the crossbow. Fortunately I bought an elite warranty so we'll see how that works out.

I've had the Phantom Decock for about 6 months. I like it. It's lighter than any other crossbow I've own. Much quieter as well. I've paired it with the TP Vision Scope and it's very accurate. It's going to get a good test in a few days when Urban Archery opens in Virginia.

Would have given it a 5 but I’m not crazy about the trigger, hard to pull and has a good bit of travel, overall you can’t go wrong with this bow

This crossbow is amazing. I love the reverse draw, it's light and easy to cock and de-cock. I can't wait for hunting season to get it in the woods.

I love the De-cock and the compactness the most. I'm 75 and this crossbow is way easier to shoulder and get on target with no effort. I've had two Ridgelines before, very accurate and proven Deer Killers. So I'm sure when I get this new bow to the woos it will out perform those trusted crossbows as well. David

My husband bought his first and after we both shot the phantom decock I had to have one to. Although we've owned several crossbows through the years this has proven to be our favorite, so far. Accuracy and ergonomics make this crossbow a top tier product and the price makes it a great buy.
