I've shot several Groundhogs this season out of a Marlin 783. Everytime they hit, in the scope I think I missed but the round goes so fast the groundhog is down right away. The wound is always a pass through and the exit is always just an exit. The exit isn't what you think a ballistic tip normally does, if you have seen it in person. This round hits a bit higher than your 40 and 45 grain. Make sure you rezero your optic.
Out of a nine round mag I always get at least one dud but as many as 4 out of 9.

I hope Winchester keeps producing this until some more firearm manufacturers get onboard in an AR platform. This is without a doubt the best rimfire cartridge I've ever shot. Outperforms everything else, even 22 Magnum. They're not even close. + Super flat shooting, zeroed for 100m I don't even need any holdover at 150m. + Ridiculously fast + Far more humane than 22LR + Extremely accurate even in wind - The only downside I have experienced, is some case splitting at the neck in about 1-2 every 20 rounds. Not major and just results in a little more fouling. If you're on the fence about this little round, do it. You won't be disappointed!

I love my .17 WSM rifle. I have spent many hours shooting with my Grandkids. My only problem is finding ammo @ retailers in my area to purchase more ammo. Any suggestions on where to find ammunition for this great little gun?
.17 wsm in all gr is so far ahead of 22 and hmr it’s a joke. Early trouble with bad primer issues have been dealt with. Shooters: try it Ammo mfrs: make more ammo available!!

I bought 500rds & the first 2 boxes averaged 8 out of 10 misfired. I bought the leading competitors & had 100% fired.
Great round using on foxes my marlin roped with 6x44 sends them straight to fox heaven
Accurate out of B mag. Shot a red squrriel at a little over 50 yards. Haven't missed a squrriel yet. It may be a bit too much for close squrriels. Sends them about 6ft horizontal before they start to fall from the tree.
