According to airgun writer Tom Gaylord, the Benjamin Trail NP2 is the easiest-cocking gas piston he's ever shot.

This special combo includes a CenterPoint Optics rifle scope that helps you home in on your targets -- critters, spinners, soda cans or bullseyes. Since you'll probably use the Benjamin Trail NP2 for hunting, we're including a Benjamin air rifle sling to make it easier to carry your gun for hours. You can also use the sling as a shooting aid to steady yourself. This air rifle is assembled in America at the Crosman plant in Bloomfield, New York.

If you purchase the .22-caliber rifle, your box may state the wrong velocity with lead pellets.

Things I liked: There are a lot of things I like about this rifle: accuracy (in general), scope I got is great!, package deal was good.

Things I would have changed: absolutely the worst thing is the weird & finicky, unreliable safety. when the safety is on, it won't shoot; when the safety is off, it has a real problem shooting the first shot. If there was a good & easy way to change or even remove the safety, I would do it. I far prefer the simple, reliable old-fashioned safety button/shaft. Please tell me how to change this. :-)

What others should know: I would recommend Benjamin product, just don't get one with the ridiculous safety trigger system.

Things I liked: I like the fact that this combo came with a scope upgrage sling and a shroud making it more accurate and silent. Which is great especially when you have disgruntled neighbours like do

Things I would have changed: in my opinion I have fairly large hands and long fingers so if the trigger was at least another inch forward I could get of a better shot. Also on the top of the stock where the piston sits could have been beveled, I find it to be a bit sharp on the synthetic stock.

What others should know: Good day all, first let me say I think that the customer service at Pyramid Air tops the charts, both friendly and fast service. I purchased the Benjamin trail NP2 combo and was in great anticipation of using it but there was a problem with the scope(4-16x40AO)which is a tag style reticle. I called customer service and they sent out a replacement after I sent the other one back of course. The reticle was lose so needless to say the gun wasn't accurate. I contacted customer services and they sent me a new scope even before they got back the old one. Since receiving the new scope I can't wait to get any excuse to use it. This rifle is on point. It's by far the most accurate pellet gun in my possession. Things I would change, In closing its a great pellet gun.

Things I liked: Nice rifle, scope was clear with no distortion, good accuracy out of the box. I was able to hit 2 in. groups offhand sitting position at 40 yds. Deadly on pest birds and will penetrate soda cans filled with water, splitting them top to bottom.

Things I would have changed: This rifle was a beast to break in. Recoil was sharp and vibration was severe. Swivel supplied with sling would not fit the stud on the rifle. The suppressor worked loose after about 200 shots. The adjustment knob for the lighted reticle is stiff and difficult to rotate. The scope mounts vibrated loose very quickly when set as recommended although the scope still held zero.

What others should know: This is not your daddy's Red Ryder carbine! This is a serious hunting rifle with lots of downrange energy. It took about 3-400 shots to get this rifle to settle in and to reduce some of the recoil and vibration from the firing cycle and for the trigger to smooth out. A firm hold seems to work best to get the most repeatable performance from this rifle. I started with Crosman 10.5 gr. domed .177 cal. pellets because this is a magnum rifle and I got a close-out deal at Wally World for $4 a tin. After about 500 rounds, the cycle started to smooth out, the trigger broke in and the blue Loc-tite held all the scope mounts. I am impressed with the energy and accuracy of this rifle and I enjoy using it now that we have gotten used to each other. While this is not a tack driver, it does have enough accuracy to get the job done for me out to about 40-50 yds.
