Benjamin Black Lightning Nitro Piston NP2 Air Rifle
Built in America! Benefits of the Nitro Piston 2 over a metal mainspring:
New from Benjamin, the Black Lightning is a streamlined gas-breakbarrel that’s as solid of a game hunter as it is a target shooter. From its sturdy stock to its powerful shots, this gun is ready to strike targets at astounding speeds.
Powered by the Nitro-Piston 2 powerplant, the Black Lightning is surprisingly easy to cock due to a centralized pivot point that makes it easy to get leverage. Once you load up your round, you’ll be shocked by how hard this rifle slings your pellets. Shooters can expect up to 1,400 fps with alloy pellets and 1,150 fps with lead pellets. These speeds deliver 23 FPE to targets and make the Black Lightning ideal for target shooting and small game hunting. Lightning never strikes twice in the same place, but your shots certainly can! Without the vibration of a traditional spring, the Black Lightning is twice as accurate as traditional springers, a fact you can immediately put to the test with the included spinning target. A baffled barrel keeps the Lightning’s volume turned town for backyard shooting sessions.
Each of these rifles comes with a CenterPoint 4x32 scope for quickly acquiring your target and includes integrated sling studs for attaching a sling. With a combined weight of 7.6 lbs. scoped, the Lightning provides enough heft to create a stable platform without being a burden. The all-weather stock features soft-touch inserts for an easy comfortable grip. Each includes the all-new enhanced 2-stage Clean Break Trigger (CBT) that breaks cleanly and predictably. If all of this isn’t enough, this airgun is assembled by American workers in Crosman's manufacturing headquarters in Bloomfield, New York.
If you want to turn up the voltage on your shooting sessions with a ruggedly built tack-driver, make a bolt for that buy button now!

Things I liked: Two day delivery - awesome thank you Pyramyd Air - well here's the deal I own 7 Benjamin and Crosman products with Nitro piston power plants and none have ever failed over thousands of shots. I purchased the Benjamin silver eagle in a .22 with the NP2 Power plant.and it was so impressive that I started looking for a .177 in Benjamin and found this Benjamin Black Lightning .177 in a NP2 power plant. Let me tell you the feel of this stock is awesome - the trigger I didn't adjust because it worked fine for me.I replaced the scope that it came with and after a good barrel cleaning I took it out to my range. This rifle is well balanced and performs smooth - quiet and ease of cocking or breaking the barrel open.Overall this rifle is everything in performance that for the price point you could ask for. This rifle also has sling capability that is cool. The gun weight is 6.9 pounds so its very manageable carrying in the woods.Today I shot close to 200 rounds so at 20 to 30 yards I give it 4 star
Things I would have changed: I'd rather have a sling with the rifle than a scope I will replace anyway -- other than that this is a shooter -- Happy Shooting !!!
What others should know: As you all can tell I'm not a big spender on air guns but you don't have to pay big bucks for a hunting or target air rifle..Remember speed isn't all the answer accuracy is the deal -- play with different pellets to find what your gun likes -- than speed and accuracy come together -- Hope this helps !!!
Things I liked: The rifle is actually pretty good for the price. It was a bit louder than I though it would be. But at a listed 1400 fps and standard Crosman pellets the sound barier was easily broken and it almost sounded like a .22LR. Again the rifle is well worth the $$$ and i would recommend one for exterminating any back yard rodents if you have them. As for supreme accuracy, this does quite well at 25-30 yds with 2in groupings. There always seems to be just one pellet that wants to go astray. That could be because it's not match grade.
Things I would have changed: THE SCOPE!!!! The scope is CRAP. I cannot say it any other way. The scope could not be adjusted. I maxed the Windage and Elevation and even tried to use micro wedges. Come to find out the crappy, cheap scope, made in China (of course) was bad right out of the box. So off to Walmart to pic up a better (still cheap) Simmons or Bushnell that will do the jog of killing back yard rodents.
What others should know: To lower the decibel levels and hopefully make this 1400fps air rifle quieter I'm suggesting a much heavier pellet... say a 10-14gr pellet might help a little. But this is only if you don't want to alarm the neighbors or have them think you are shooting a .22LR in the back yard.

Will this rifle be available in .22 caliber?
Is the " easy to cock due to a centralized pivot point that makes it easy to get leverage" something different than any of the other NP2 systems ?Also what is the cocking weight?
