Spinners, paper targets, tin cans, rats, mice, squirrels, rabbits and more: Beware...the Ruger Targis Hunter is a lean, mean hunting machine! Equipped with SilencAIR 5-chamber noise dampener, the Ruger Targis Hunter will take out your intended prey without alarming others in the area. I guess you could say it's neighbor-friendly. Attached the included sling to help you carry this rifle across terrain and to steady your aim.

The all-weather stock will battle whatever Mother Nature throws at it. No pampering required. Just load and shoot. Repeat as needed.

Things I liked:

This is one solid well constructed rifle. Fit and finish are superb. Shoulders nice and has a great ergonomic feel. This was a Christmas present for my wife: she picked it out; and she loves it! We are considering the .177 version also!

Things I would have changed:

Work on the sound suppression. Using Crosman Premier Hollowpoint Lead Pellets this bad boy had a sonic crack. Not sure how that can be since projectile supersonic velocity is 1125 fps and the specs say about 800 fps with lead pellets. Not complaining about it! It is a little loud for the neighborhood if the neighbors are home.

What others should know:

It is hefty so smaller shooters may not like the weight. Great value though. Out of the box it is slightly off center to the right, No problem though since sights are adjustable for W & E. Sights are well constructed and visible.

Things I liked:

Looks great and shoots straight. I love it and the sling comes in handy. I installed a Red Dot Scope for the gun and placed the scope it came with in my gun safe for future use. I used my Red Dot Scope for close shooting; only 10' to 30' and it is perfect for varmints in my back yard.

Things I would have changed:

If it was a repeater that would be even better.

What others should know:

No that is it. Thanks!

Things I liked:

This rifle is IN MY FAVORITE TOP 3 Pellet Rifles. It is one of the nicest pellet rifle's I have ever fired. This rifle is VERY accurate out past 60 yards.

Things I would have changed:

I would like to see a real suppressor on this rifle to reduce muzzle rise a little.

  • Sean from USA asked:

If anyone has the Targis, can they email me a picture of the underbelly of this gun? I have the Talon which is the twin little brother in .177. It did not come factory with sling mounts of any type and I was wanting to see how they affixed the front swivel mount to the break barrel mechanism. Also kudos to Umarex / Ruger for making the sling setup look classy. Next question. Are the stocks interchangeable i.e. could I get a Ruger Air Hawk or Magnum stock and it be a direct fit? I was thinking wood would make my slinging attempts easier. Or how about Umarex just send me a Targis sling and I will figure out the rest. Thanks.

    • michael from USA asked:

how is thefront sight orsupresser fixed on to end of barrel glued on or screw on

      • Sean from USA answered:

Michael. This being the big twin brother of the Umarex Talon .177 (Ruger) and as I have the schematic, I will add that there are three screws that appear to hold the sight / suppressor to the barrel. In addition the schematic shows a check ring between the barrel and the plastic sight / suppressor. I've attempted to remove my sight / sup with no success. I assumed it was due to the check ring. But Tyler's answer of epoxy may be the real reason. Personally, I don't like the plastic end so if you manage to get it removed, please let me know. I assume once removed it would be damaged and useless thus forcing us to use an oil filter or aftermarket suppressor. Hope this helps.

      • Tyler Patner from USA answered:

        It is epoxied in place.

    • Rudedawg from USA asked:

2 questions: 1. The specs state the rifle weighs 9.85#, is this for the rifle alone or with scope mounted? 2. What is the weight of the .22 pellet used to achieve the 800 fps w/lead or is the fps overstated by the manufacturer? Thanks in advance.

      • Erika from USA answered:

That is with the rifle and scope. The FPS would have been with a light weight lead pellet, I would guess around 11 grains
