    Things I liked:

Looks, power, weight. Very nice over all. Came well packed and in good condition.

    Things I would have changed:

Trigger could be a lot nicer. Make the scope optional.

    What others should know:

Good accuracy. Nice size. I would have rated it higher except for the trigger and having to pay for a scope I won't use.

    Rating 4.04.0 4.0

    Things I liked:

Wood stock is a nice touch, fit is OK, finish is a little light. Scope, is adequate, the mount is good. Trigger is tolerable without adjustment, although the second dtange is slightly mushy. Good power! Lot's of zing!

    Things I would have changed:

Quality Control - One side of the front stock screws was very loose. I had to tighten it right out of the box. The front trigger guard screw hole was stripped when just out of the box, a slightly larger screw fixed that.

    What others should know:

The rifle dieseled right out of the box for the first 20 shots, then it stopped. Some shots you get a good "twang!" others you don't. I have tried Crosman Premier 14.3 g, no good, JSB Diabolo Exacts Jumbo Express, no good either. RWS Super H points with a LOOSE HOLD (front hand close to the trigger guard,) will stack one pellet on top of the next. Very repeatable accuracy with consistent wind conditions. Use Super H points, and you will be bagging tree rats all day long. This is a great starter rifle, and the price cannot be beat.

    Things I liked:

I have waited a while to do this review after my purchase. I bought 2 of these guns in .22 in July, one of which was for my father. The gun is clearly priced as an entry gun. It has a nice looking stock and is powerful. Both guns averaged around 730 FPS with 14 grain pellets in the 10 for ten tests, but with high variability indicating much dieseling - they both smoked for a long time. I like the entry price, look, weight, power, and balance of the gun.

    Things I would have changed:

The poor trigger and poor reliability are the gun's biggest drawbacks. Neither shot even close to accurately until I put in Charlie's GRT-III triggers. The scope mounts are junk, and the scope is OK to start but won't last long term on a gun that fires as harshly as this. I suggest Crosman ditch the scope and sell it with just open sights, and put the money in the trigger and make sure the mainspring is more reliable. The price could stay the same and customers would get a robust entry shooter with good power at a fair price/profit.

    What others should know:

Out of two guns purchased, both failed. My father's gun had the sear and anti-beartrap mechanism fail at around 50 shots - the barrel slammed shut without the trigger being pulled, with the safety on. The barrel bent and the stock broke, but fortunately no fingers were near the breech. PA exchanged the gun with no problem. My father's new gun is still under 700 shots, 300 of which I did without the scope mounted to start to get it to settle in for him. On mine, the front scope mount failed almost immediately necessitating buying a new mount (one piece), then the scope stopped holding zero at around 700 shots, and the mainspring broke at around 1400 shots. Rather than go the warranty route (Crosman would likely have replaced it and set me back to square one on breaking it in), I sent it to Gene in SC for a Turbo Tune. My gun has turned out to be quite a nice little shooter, but the final cost was $300 (original gun plus $30 trigger and $150 fix/tune), plus more for another scope. Mine now chronys at 700 FPS with Beeman FTS 14.6 grain pellets (the best for my gun), and I can get 1/2" 10 shot groups rested at 20 yards, so I'm reasonably happy with it. My father's, without the tune, is not as accurate and is a lot harsher to shoot, but he still likes it - I just wonder when his will fail too. I wish I had spent less money in the end by spending a little more up front for the much superior RWS-34, or at least the Nitro NPSS.

    Things I liked:

    Price.

    Scope, accuracy.

    What others should know:

I can not get this rifle to shoot to the same spot twice. The scope is garbage. The open sights are not much better.

    Things I liked:

Great value; solidly made; includes good basic scope (as well as neon peep sight); so far, accuracy is above average.

    Things I would have changed:

I bought this as my 12-year old son's first rifle--it's a bit large and heavy for him, but manageable; breaking the barrel (to cock and load) was REALLY hard [for me!] the first few times.

    What others should know:

Great air-powered alternative to a .22 rimfire rilfe.

    Things I liked:

Lightweight, reliable, very good to tune. I have many airguns, but just 2 springers, my favorite springer is the crosman 800X, if you are looking for a budget springer with great accuracy, buy here from Pyramyd airgun, they know the business, and great customer support. Almost forgot, this springer shoots almost any pellet, for best results crosman premiers, RWS Hollow and Gamo's dome. I like everything of it!!!

    Things I would have changed:

Crosman must have more details with the stock, it is good but fragile, also the screws that supports the main tube came loose, you have to secure them with a thread lock.

    What others should know:

All crosman barrels came dirty inside, remember to clean your barrel first, My 800 X came with a crosman sight, it proof not to be good because of the invert recoil, as I used mine for rat control I kept the iron (plastic really) sight. that is good for me.

    Things I liked:

Just received it but think it is a good value for the price. Suprisingly the scope isn't that bad considering it is included. Sights are actually good also, some have complained that they are too cheap but I liked the brightness of the fiberoptic. Pretty decent speed. I had the ten for ten done and the velocity settled in after the first 5. Averaged 723fps with a 17fps deviation with 13.9wt pellets. I am anxious to try it with different pellets to see what groups the best. Nice finish on the gun also.

    Things I would have changed:

Not much. I could nitpick and say more speed and maybe all steel sights but with the overall price it is still a good buy.

    What others should know:

    Nope.

    Things I liked:

There probably isn't one thing I could find that I don't like, this rifle is great. The barrel is rifled so deep that when you look down it, it looks like you could stick you fingers right in them. This really makes for an accurate rifle, as it allows the pellets to grab the barrel and put a good spin on them; helping increase accuracy. The stock is solid wood, with a nice satin finish. The sites on the rifle itself, are almost as good as any rifle I have ever owned, including a couple of military rifles. When I first bought this rifle I put the scope on it, and it was "Out of the Box Accurate", shooting Quarter size groups at 25 yards.

    Things I would have changed:

As far as finding something to change, the only thing I had problems with when I received the rifle, was getting the barrel open. I had to hold it with one hand, and kind of whack the end of it with the other hand. I had to do that for a while, but either got used to it, or it got used to me.

    What others should know:

This gun is powerful, it's not a kids toy, it's an adults toy. When you go to pump this rifle, get ready, it's a tough pump right off. That's about it for this gun. I bought several different types of Pellets with it, and have to say I couldn't tell the difference. I have been cleaning the area up of unwanted critters, and haven't found one yet that I have had a problem with.

    Things I liked:

Nice wood, scope works ok with scope stop. Might want to go 3x9 but the 4x is fine and it really isn't a bad scope as others have commented. This thing hits like a sledge hammer!! I was shooting at a beeman pellet trap at 25 yards and putting dents in the metal that almost went through using crosman .22 domed premires. You could see and feel the bumps in the back of the trap and even dented below on the richochet! had to stop and save the trap for .177's. Seriously I have to find a real steel trap this gun will eat through sheet metal. Stll playing with different pellets premire crosman's domed best so far. Accuracy is me because good groups using a rest and resting in palm so freehand is me.

    Things I would have changed:

Wish it had swivels to mount a sling. Using the gamo buddy but it tends to slide up a lot, better than nothing cause this gun is heavy to carry all day.

    What others should know:

For the money, I really don't think you can meet or surpass this gun for power, serious impact. Varmints nightmare at a really good price! I don't think you'll be disappointed. I've had it 4 months and really impressed with the value of this rifle.

    Things I liked:

Nice looking rifle. In a couple spots the stain was applied carelessly but overall the rifle looks. Packs a punch. Fun to shoot.

    Things I would have changed:

The scope is a liability but its functional. A little more attention to the finish.

    What others should know:

I think if you are looking for a budget priced .22 I think this rifle has everything you want. I have never owned a "high end" air rifle so I can't make a comparison but I've been very happy with this gun.

    Things I liked:

The gun shoots. Keep in mind you are buying the gun...not the scope. My 800 came with a center point scope that was not worth a darn. I bought a Leapers that worked out much better. If I could have found the 800 with the gun alone I would have bought it. Even with the crappy scope it is a great deal.

    Things I would have changed:

    ditch the crappy scope

    What others should know:

sighting it in takes some time. This gun needs to be broken in before it shoots worth a darn. But once it is broken in, it shoots GREAT with just about any ammo.

    Things I liked:

I had been looking for an inexpensive .22 air rifle. After a lot of research, I ordered a Crosman Quest 800X from Pyramid Air. My original order was lost by UPS, but I received prompt replacement order. (Pyramid has great customer service.) I'd asked Pyramid Air to check it out before shipping and this is what they reported: With RWS H-point Pellet 14.2 grains #1 745.42 fps #2 739.19 fps #3 730.31 fps #4 738.69 fps #5 745.61 fps I ran outside to shoot it before the rains came. It's a keeper! After about a dozen shots it started grouping well with Daisy Precision Max .22 flat-nosed pellets. I was shooting one hole groups and cloverleafs at 10 meters with iron sights off the patio table before the rains came. (Rats!!) It's fairly light at 6-1/2 pounds, but doesn't seem very hold sensitive. I think I'll shoot open sights for a while - it reminds me of my younger days. The stock is only lightly finished - almost a natural satin feel. Stock is slightly thicker than my Gamo Hunter and has about 3/4 inch longer pull even though Gamo is about 1 inch longer overall. I'm 5' 11" with long arms and I must admit it feels better to the shoulder than my Gamo. The Quest also has a rubber butt which steadies my aim somewhat. The trigger is about 4 lbs pull and only slight creep. it's perfectly adequate for a sporter rifle. Anyway, I'm very pleased with the Crosman Quest 800X at first blush. It's made in China but much better quality than I expected.

    Things I would have changed:

I've found the plastic fixed sights to be a little "flimsy" for real target shooting, but more than adequate for small game hunting. At 61 my eyesight is not what it used to be to say the least. However, the glow sights help me a lot - just put the GREEN dot between the two RED dots, sit target on top of GREEN dot, and let her rip. The plastic sight adjustments are not solid clicks, but a little mushy. However, I had no problems sighting-in and after about 15 shots they stayed locked in place.

    What others should know:

I haven't mounted the scope yet, but it appears useable - it's a Centerpoint 4X32 with parallax adjusted for 30 yards. This Quest really locks up TIGHT! I have to tap the muzzle kind of firmly or break the breech gently over my knee to cock and load. Speaking of cocking, this Quest is a monster! You can really "feel" the power. You certainly don't need a "bow flex" for a good workout. Speaking of power, my backstop is exterior 1/2 inch plywood. I decided to test it with Crosman Premier Hollow Points at 10 meters. First CPHP blew right through the backstop! Next, I tried some soft lead Daisy Precision Max Wadcutters (flat nose). The wads almost made it through leaving a huge bulge on the back side. Wow! For a springer, the Quest has a lot of power - more than enough for small game.

    Things I liked:

Powerful and accuracy is better than average. Built on probably the most easily tunable spring gun platform. I have a Benjamin 392 and it's more accurate, but I like this one as well since I only have to pump it once (break barrel). I was going to give it a 4 overall, but it's such a terrific value and the power make it a 5. Improve accuracy and it would be a total 5.

    Things I would have changed:

Improve accuracy. I have heard the scope doesn't stay mounted, but I haven't mounted mine yet as the tru-glow sights are very good. I will mount scope after break in and tune period.

    What others should know:

You can replace the trigger in this gun with an improved GRT III trigger. This gun is easy to tune and the .22 pellets have good knock down power. I have heard the accuracy is improved with the replacement trigger and a good tuning. i haven't performed these yet on mine though.

    Things I liked:

The length, shorter and easier to handle than some other rifles, stock butt pad, decent wood, and it does have all the power you need for small game, pests, etc. The Quest 800 is a hard hitter and in some stores a little overpriced and over rated.

    Things I would have changed:

Put in a decent trigger, get rid of those cheap sights. Offer the rifle with a synthetic stock.

    What others should know:

Very loud for the first 8 or 10 shots but will settle down the more you shoot. Mine is very picky on which type of pellet it likes. Just shoot a variety and go with the one it likes best. My 800 doesn't like heavy pellets such as the Beeman Crow Magnum for example, but loves the Precision Max Wadcutters by Daisy! They gave me a penny size group the first day of shooting at normal shooting ranges. Much tighter groups than the others I tried. Crosman Premier Hollowpoints did ok but nothing to brag about. Good hunting rifle for squirrel and wabbits and other small game at medium ranges! I do recommend.

    Things I liked:

I own and shoot many firearms. I enjoy this gun in particular because of the weight, overall length, and balance. The stock has excellent grain and is well finished. The gun is one of the best (cheap) guns that I continually take out of the case. Reguardless of my grumbling about the sights I do like the tru-glow style and continue to have great luck with open sights.

    Things I would have changed:

I replaced the trigger with a charliedatuna GRT-III. The gun shoots excellent with the upgrade. The web site is also cool for other related info. For $32.00 it is an easy fix and keeps the total purchase well under $200.00

    What others should know:

The rear sight is an awful cheap plastic creation. I had to heat the plastic up with a heat gun to adjust. Although at 25' I can hold nickel size groups with the RWS superpoint 14.5 gr. pellets. These pellets have also proven to shoot the best for me. The weight of the pellet is just about right for the stock main spring.

This gun handles very well. It very powerful. It will penetrate a 3/4 inch piece of plywood at 30 feet. Cocking is not unreasonable. It may be difficult for a younger shooter.

    Things I would have changed:

The lack of adjustment of the scope is its down fall. but as a package deal its not bad.

    What others should know:

its a great deal and you won't be disappointed with it.

    Things I liked:

Great power. Once sighted in, simply deadly. Heavy construction, feels solid. The scope is a plus.

    Things I would have changed:

The sights are cheap. Trigger safety is anything but safe. I can see it going off when trying to set the safety.

    What others should know:

I am not sure why the reviews are so bad about the scope on this model. It took me a little bit to zero it in, but once I got it, it has stayed. Granted, I am generally only shooting at 50-75 ft distances, but I have bagged 2 raccoons, 5 squirrels and a woodchuck with this. I think perhaps people are not tightening the scope down enough because the spring can be jarring. After about 30 - 40 rounds, this gun quiets down quite a bit. While sighting it in, I had a target on a 1'' thick board tacked to a pine tree. It went through the board, and into the tree at 50ft.

    Things I liked:

I've only owned this rifle for a week, so I don't expect you to agree with everything. I really liked the heft of this rifle, it wasn't too big nor too small. The trigger pull was not as bad as I've read about, but I will definitely be upgrading to a GRTIII setup in the near future. I previously owned a Marksman 0035 (same as a Beeman) and I definitely like the power this rifle produces. It will definitely be my tree rat killer.

    Things I would have changed:

The open sights, especially the rear, are useless. When I first shot the rifle, it was hitting the target about 3 to 4 inches high. I lowered the rear sight as far as it would go and it still shot high. Yes, I made sure the screws were tight. I have as of yet to clean the barrel, that may make a difference. I would have preferred to buy this rifle without the cheesy scope and add my own later, but hey, it only came as a package. I am constantly adjusting the scope...it never seems to stay on target.

    What others should know:

It is definitely a great buy and overall, I am very pleased with the product...kudos to Crosman.

    Things I liked:

Very light for a rifle of this power. Great price. Easy cocking effort.

    Things I would have changed:

Don't care for the safety. An automatic safety would be nice.

    What others should know:

The first 10 shots will diesel, causing a rimfire-like report, due to the excessive oil from the factory. My first two shots went through 5/8" waferboard at 32 yards. I couldn't believe it. When cocking the rifle, it is normal for it to seem a bit rough, like something grinding...it's the spring and piston settling in. It will get better after about 250 shots, and the rifle will become smoother and quieter. A good rifle for younger shooters, as long as supervised...this isn't a toy.

    Things I liked:

I like the power, accuracy, stock and pad. This is an excellent riffle for the money. Mine is the .22 version and I am very happy with it. I bought it for tree rat control. Love the color of the stock classic Crosman reminds me of the older models I had as a kid and all the memories that go with them.

    Things I would have changed:

Two things First the trigger is terrible. Second is the way that the factory mounted the front site that I removed for the optic. I moly lubed the trigger and adjusted it and its a lot better but this is really the only bad part of this rifle. Forget the scope its junk.

    What others should know:

Buy a better scope and mounts and lube and adjust your trigger and your good to go. This is an excellent value and I recomend this rifle to anyone looking for an excellent valve for the money and a fun rifle.
