    Things I liked:

Overall feel in the hand is great. Very substantial. Trigger was great out of the box for me.

    Things I would have changed:

Plastic bolt and bolt slide seems out of place. The plastic area behind the breech looked like it was beginning to split. This whole part of the gun needs to be higher quality.

    What others should know:

Despite applying all the standard fixes mentioned on the internet quite carefully, mine wouldn't hold air. It was intermittent, but after a week I decided it wasn't going to get better so I returned it. I didn't replace due to issues above. I was disappointed though - this was a gun I really wanted to love.

    Things I liked:

Accuracy is very good right out of the box! Nice feel to the hand when gripping the pistol. It is not heavy so easy to stay on target for a while if need be. Side handle operates fine.

    Things I would have changed:

The stock barrel sights are weak. That is, it is black on black. No white dot system or even a white front sight. The sights could use an improvement BIG time. They work yes, but fast acquisition of sights is slow especially at dusk. The grip does feel a little plastic, so, if I were going to improve this pistol, I would install better sights and a better grip.

    What others should know:

The noise level is minimal when fired. So, if you are shooting it in the city limits this is one model to consider.

    Things I liked:

Such an a great & affordable target pistol, what's not to like? Amazing accuracy & consistency, crisp & predictable trigger, good target sights & excellent overall build quality.

    Things I would have changed:

I'd have to nit pick to find something to change because everything is functional & more than adequate(many things are excellent)for the price point. With that said I'd love to have a metal rear sight, metal bolt & wood grips(if they included the thumb shelf).

    What others should know:

Clean the barrel before you start shooting & again after a couple hundred shots. If your 747 is like mine was, it will take couple of hundred shots for the excess lube to blow out of the valve.

    Things I liked:

Really accurate, this gun doesn't lie. If you're missing the target it isn't the gun, just keep practicing. Nice heft and balance. Easy & fun to use. I like the single-pump action vs. a multi pump — keeps it simple and consistent.

    Things I would have changed:

The plastic grips are fine. But I am still getting wood grips because I like the look and feel better. They are also a bit big.

    What others should know:

You'll probably need to adjust the sights. It's not a really "powerful" gun (with wadcutters it often doesn't puncture a plastic water bottle @ 30m — maybe with pointed heads it would) but if that's what you're looking for this isn't the gun you want. If you just want to hit targets, you won't be disappointed.

    Things I liked:

Mega quiet. Trigger is nice. Easy to cock.

    Things I would have changed:

Grips, although comfortable really should be wood for the price point. The gun needs to be blued rather an powder coated. Plastic bolt needs to go more then anything else. The price needs to be reeled back a bit. Although I do think the price is OK, they would have a real winner if they just improved a few things.

    What others should know:

Upon getting the 747, I immediately cleaned the barrel per Daisy's recommendation and then proceeded to run about 75 pellets through it. I tried four pellets; H&N match and finale match pistol, RWS R-10 match and Crosman premiers. All were fairly accurate but the HN finale match was the only consistant pellet followed by the Crosman Premiers. The bolt was really fiddly and stiff but worked in by about the 50th shot. The plastic sights really aren't as bad as people complain. Really they just need be more visible, maybe a tru-glow or white dot would be fine. They need to bump the FPS by about 50 so that wadcutters punch a clean hole. Overall I really do like this gun, its easy to loose hours shooting this gun. I have shot it indoors with a silent trap and it is the perfect indoor gun.

Fantastic gun for the $...nothing touches it in this price range.I have shot several 48's with it at 10m,a 50 is just around the corner!smooth and accurate, you will be impressed.this gun actually out shoots my rim fire target pistols at 10m.it likes light pellets 7-7.5 grains.the cross man match and mysterklugen work great.

    Things I would have changed:

The plastic rear sight is my only gripe...it works just fine btw.just wish it was metal.

    What others should know:

    Capable of very good accuracy.

    Things I liked:

Insane Accuracy. Shoot this from a bench rest and you'll discover the true beauty of this pistol. Loading is very quick and easy. I love the bolt action paired with the smooth, easy to operate side pump. You can shoot it all day.

    Things I would have changed:

Trigger definitely isn't the best for a match pistol, but it is adjustable and on the lowest setting its ok.

    What others should know:

yes it has some plastic parts, but mine has held up just fine for 2000+ shots so far. You will need to lubricate and make adjustments down the line which are easy and in the manual. Makes a great first target air pistol.

    Things I liked:

Accurate, easy to pump the side lever and load. Good gun for an indoor shooting range.

    Things I would have changed:

This gun should have wood grips and the sights updated to fiber optic.

    What others should know:

Worked good out of the box. Very accurate. Powerful enough for it's intended purpose as a target gun, not powerful enough for hunting or pest control unless the pest is a bug.

    Things I liked:

I have had this gun for 35 years and it has performed flawlessly. I don't use it a lot, but it is accurate and pretty solidly put together. This is a workhorse and a good practice gun. This gun is quiet and well suited for back yard shooting. I enjoy this gun.

    Things I would have changed:

Plastic grips could be wood, but they are comfortable. More metal parts (but would make it cost more).

    What others should know:

It looks a l ittle tinny, but it is durable. Just keep the seals oiled and it should last a long time like mine. It shoots tight groups, and it is not fussy for pellets. I shoot Crosman Match and Premiers with good groups and Diablo Basics with good results too.

    Things I liked:

Sweet Shooter, accurate as advertised. I shot a yellow jacket out of the air with this the first few days I had it. I was amazed to say the least.

    Things I would have changed:

The bolt needs a redesign or a aftermarket part. The bolt is not up to the rest of the gun.

    What others should know:

Great gun, very accurate. The bolt needs to go and it cheapens the gun and is my only issue. It flexes and is hard to grasp and screams to be replaced. How about it PA, make us a replacemnt to buy.

The 747 is very accurate. It cocks easily with only moderate effort required.Sights are good and easily adjusted.Trigger pull is good and always the same.

    Things I would have changed:

I would like the trigger adjustment to allow for even lighter trigger pull.

    What others should know:

I have no problem with the stock grips although I did replace mine with left handed ones from Daisy.Custom grips are available.Keep up the good work -- Daisy and Pyramyd Air.

    Rating 4.04.0 4.0

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

Astonishingly accurate. Trigger is excellent, but I trimmed the pull spring, a bit, to get to 1/2 lb., polished the mating surfaces, and it is now the best trigger I've ever used. Very nice grip, but BIG. I can't imagine a young person using this. My wife can't. Some options here would be nice.

    Things I would have changed:

The bolt is a joke. It's a piece of plastic that looks, feels, works like... a piece of plastic. How much would an aluminum or steel bolt add to the price? I've just finished milling an aluminum bolt, which should greatly improve this function. No provision for mounting a scope or dot sight. I'm an old guy. I can't use open sights, anymore. I need a sighting aid. See below for fix.

    What others should know:

To mount a scope on this thing, I milled a piece of aluminum to replace the rear sight. To this, I screwed a short weaver mount, which accepts a short-base dot sight. The accuracy of this gun is very much limited by the really substandard factory sights. Wait 'til you see what it can do with a good dot sight.

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

Very accurate--from a bench rest I have shot 10-shot groups about 1/2 inch across. Good feel in the hand, pretty good velocity, consistent. Very crisp trigger with nice sharp break. Good sights, and huge sight radius.

    Things I would have changed:

The bold is kind of rough to pull back, both because it is recocking the trigger and also because it's rubbing against a metal part in the housing and is getting gouged as it does this. The space you have to put the pellet into is pretty small. It's a bit front heavy.

    What others should know:

The trigger is adjustable but I don't think it goes down to 1 lb like the manual says, more like 2 or 2-1/2. For the money, this is an excellent entry point into competitive target shooting. If you try to disassemble the gun, you will have to recalibrate the rear sight because of the way its screw and nut fit into the frame. They have definitely changed this gun over the years -- I have my father's 717, and it feels nicer, more solid, and has a very slightly better trigger, even though it's the non-adjustable version, but still, the 747 is a sweet gun for the price, and unless you're willing to move up to the $500 and higher stratum, this is about as good as it gets.

    Things I liked:

Very accurate Has a good heft Easy to pump Quiet (thought it would be quieter but still quiet) Never shot much pistol and I was stacking shots in the time it took to heat the oven after work

    Things I would have changed:

Narrower trigger It has a nice metal frame but cheap plastic grips and plastic bolt handle, the 2 things that you actually touch Wish the grips used 2 screws rather than one so they would wiggle less I wish the bolt had a click when you rotated it up Might paint the from sight post red and the back green or something down the road Wish the safety did not have the little guard over it

    What others should know:

I got a dud the first time (would not hold air) but RMA'ed it that day and then got a new one. No issues. This is adult sized Grips might even be a touch big for me (if wood I would and them but alas)

    Things I liked:

    Accuracy.

    Things I would have changed:

There is movement in the grips when I raise the gun, and they can't be tightened (via the phillips head screw) anymore.

    What others should know:

I bought my 747 in January 2012. It started malfunctioning a little over 3 months later. I returned it to Daisy under warranty. One month later I got it back with no cover letter, so I do not know what they did, if anything to attempt to repair it. It failed again the first time I shot it within 40 pellets. They want it returned again to try and repair it a second time. I have been borrowing a friend's 747 so I can practice and shoot matches meantime. It also has failed twice since he has had it. Both our 747's have failed after putting through 800 - 1,000 pellets. Coincidence? My ratings are based on the assumption that Daisy will eventually return to me a fully functional 747.

    Things I liked:

I must have gotten a defective one, because I only got 10 shots out of it before I had to return it. I tried putting a drop or two pelgunoil on the seal and wick to no avail. It was accurate for the 10 shots though.

    Things I would have changed:

    The plastic components.

    What others should know:

I ended up sending it back and applied the refund to the purchase of a IZH 46M Match Air Pistol. I know a big upgrade, but after seeing the plastic Avanti, I thought it would be much more satisfying to go for more quality.

    Things I liked:

Weight (it's heavy), balance, accuracy, ease of use.

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger is gritty and inconsistent, maybe it will get better after a few tins of pellets. The rear sight is plastic, which I don't like just on principal. I will wait and see how it holds up in use.

    What others should know:

I am a firearms instructor, mainly dealing with new shooters. In my location the range is a long drive for most students, we have high and gusting winds about half the year, and ammunition (here and everywhere) is expensive. I bought the gun so I could do training indoors (a 10-meter range is available), and so I could better demonstrate the effects of trigger control and follow through without having to be concerned that recoil was covering up the errors as the shot broke. In addition, I was looking for an economical gun I could recommend for my students that they could practice with without having to drive to the range. Got it in one. The 747 is accurate, the grip angle is similar to the sport and defensive pistols the students are buying, and accuracy is excellent for a gun in this price range. It is not an Olympic contender, but it suits my requirements perfectly. Initial response from my students has been very positive, with one new gun ordered and several others pending. I can recommend this pistol to anyone who wants to improve their skill.

    Things I liked:

This gun consistently produces 1/2-inch groups when benchrested at 10 meters. I have owned this gun several months.

    Things I would have changed:

I am not too impressed with this gun. After 50 shots, the center rivet on the pump lever became dislogdged and loose and started catching on the pump rod housing, marring it and preventing smmooth operation. Every few shots, I have to push the rivet back in place. Then, after less than 500 shots, an internal seal failed. The gun hisses and loses pressure within a few seconds of pumping it. Tonight I am looking for my sales receipt to send it back to Daisey for repair. Very dissapointing. The liberal use of plastic, such as for the bolt and sights, is also disappointing given the cost of this gun. I will probably never buy another Daisey product again and would not recommend this gun to a friend.

    What others should know:

There are no distinguishing features or markings on the Triumph match version to tell it apart from the regular Avanti 747. The box says Triumph Match, but did I really get one? Why doesn't the gun have markings? That is cost cutting that goes too deep. Daisey can't even label the gun properly.
