I "holds" offhand better than any of my other air guns (due to its weight I am sure). It has a long "pull" which works well for me. The trigger is great right out of the box.
Things I would have changed:I do not know about "change" but Pyramid Air should supply a stunningly attractive female weightlifter to cock it for me (I'm 73).
What others should know:Mine is a .25 and I have a pellet trap (measured 54 feet - silhouette ram distance) with a three inch round swinger made out of mild steel, 1/4 inch plate. A hit on the edge actually bends the plate. it seems to be accurate with any of the six types of pellets I have (all lead, all mid-weight). Better be eating your Wheaties or have a lot of hair on your back if you buy one of these.
I own a Ruger Number One in 450/400 that weighs less. My model (135 QE) does not seem to change impact or grouping with different holds. I still hold it in my hand and place my hand on the forward bag when I shoot it off the bench; nor do I place the buttstock on a bag as well. I have found this to be true with most of my air guns, place them directly on a hard bag and you invariably get inconsistent grouping (vertical stringing - for me anyway).
This is simply a well made, accurate tool. (so is a sledgehammer)
I really like this rifle,

Great air rifle - lots of power - accurate
Things I would have changed:Make it a Spring Air gun
What others should know:reat air rifle - but piston failed
Bought the 135 EQ .30 cal about 3 years ago. Loved it. But a month ago - the nitro piston failed with less than 500 pellets through it. Out of warranty, I sent it to Hatsan USA. Got a quick response. They said that the most common reason a nitro piston fails is because if you store it muzzle up - like in a gun rack - piston cup oil will leak down the piston rod and soften or weaken the piston bladder - causing it to fail. I had never heard of that before. So be aware ! Store it on its side or other end up.

Very powerful when it worked. Good accuracy. Nice comfortable stock
Things I would have changed:Screws are made of low quality steel. They strip easily. Hatsan quality control, poor at best. Use quality gas spring instead of the inferior part that leaks. The trigger is too heavy and won't adjust any lower. Tried contacting Hatsan but they were useless. Gave up on that and just lived with the heavy trigger
What others should know:I had previously posted a complete review on this gun back in 2016/2017, but it looks like all the reviews between Jul 2016 and Jul 2017 are not there. So here's the abridged version: This is the second time that all the gas leaked out of the vortex piston, after storing it over the winter. Not impressed. The first time it took two months for the repair and cost me $40 to ship it back, even under warranty. Not worth the money to go through that again, plus pay for a repair. I won't be buying another Hatsan gas piston gun. Now I own a $300, 10 Lb. boat paddle. Don't waste your time or money on this one. Should have spent more $ and went with a Wiehrauch.

What's not to like? Beautiful adjustable stock, great power and accuracy, overall excellent quality. WOW!
Things I would have changed:Nothing
What others should know:Got this on sale but had to wait a few months to get it. PA shipped as soon as it became available! Definitely worth the wait. I cleaned the barrel, mounted scope and sighted in within 7 shots. The break-in was around 50 shots with definite improvement in smoothness and accuracy. I am using the trigger factory settings and Crosman 14.3 hollow points. One inch swingers at 35 yards are no problem. Regularly hit two and a half inch swingers at 50 yards. I own 13 break barrels and this is now my favorite. This is definitely the most powerful 22 cal break barrel I own. I actually prefer the weight of this rifle. Definitely heavier than my other rifles. This helps with stability. A bit loud for my back yard but, I love the sound of it as well. Just fantastic!

A friend of mine has one of these in 30 caliber. Shoots those 44 grain pellets at 570fps on the chrony, around 32ftlbs. Shot it several times and I enjoyed it. Shot a sparrow with it and it disintegrated the little bird. It's a beast, kinda hard to cock the barrel, 50lbs or more.
Things I would have changed:Kinda heavy at 10lbs. Although I think there's a synthetic stock version that is slightly lighter. Cocking effort is high, but expected from such a powerful piston. A longer barrel helps with cocking. I have a Hatsan 125 in 25 caliber and has slightly lower cocking effort, or at least it seems like it due to the longer barrel. I wonder if Hatsan can do some tinkering with the piston system to make it more powerful without increasing the cocking effort too much, like 5 more lbs, reach 640fps with 44 grain pellets, which translates to 40ftlbs.
What others should know:This is a manly air rifle. Not meant for women, small stature men or young kids.

It's beautiful. It's a hammer! Overall a decent build.
Things I would have changed:Have the .30 cal in stock more often. Settled for the .25 cal instead.
What others should know:It requires strength to cock it. I'm a big guys, I've got some decent upper body strength and shot many rounds through it without issue. My 13 year old though, different story. Understand that you'll get a workout cocking this rifle.

I own a 177 and 25 of this model. I absolutely love these airguns! Both are powerhouses. In 177 with standard Crosman 7.9gr hollowpoints I am getting around 27fpe. Plenty to take all small game up to racoon and groundhog. In 25 my 135 is getting 32-33fpe using H&N Grizzly 31gr rounds. It shoots the grizzlies under 1 inch at 40 yards. In my honest opinion I think you could take a coyote within 30 yards.
Things I would have changed:Nothing
What others should know:The 135 guns are heavy. So not ideal for a kid.

Power, Power, Power. This think packs a wallop in .30 caliber.
Things I would have changed:The iron sights are almost useless. The appear to be so misaligned that I could not get it properly sighted without maximum windage adjustment and even then it was still not acceptable. This was remedied by installation of a decent but inexpensive red dot (tube) sight, which then allows you to properly sight. The accuracy is now more than acceptable. I've seen reports of misaligned sights and even the rail, so these apparently have merit. Hopefully Hatsan can eventually correct this issue, which is probably in their production machinery.
What others should know:Be sure you know what's behind your target, and use a sturdy enough stop. The power is truly amazing for a break barrel air gun.
Be prepared to get a workout during a shooting session, the effort to "cock" the gun is substantial.
Overall, this gun deserves a spot in any airgun collection, especially for the price.

Overall it's a very nice air gun. The wood is a lot nicer than expected. out of the box 25 yards it's accurate with minor adjustment. It is astonishingly quiet! It is powerful driving a .22 1/3 of the way through a pine 2x4. It does take some strength to cock it. I don't think my wife could do it. I did adjust the trigger pull and I was pleased with the results.
Things I would have changed:Nothing at this time

Nice wood stock Powerful Build quality seems good at first glance Heavy
What others should know:I have now gone through 2 of these units after the first got replaced because of the piston suddenly releasing while cocking the gun and forcing the barrel to fling back and bend. That was only after about 500 rounds through the first gun and now exact thing happened on second gun after about 100 rounds.
Prior to this, the gun will not fire in groups. I've tried numerous different pellets to no avail.
This time my gun is out of warranty and I have a nice heavy paperweight. Not happy.
Will never buy another of these.

Having recently decided to upgrade my pellet shooting from a Gamo Raptor Whisper, which is an OK rifle...to this all I can say is wow. Just received it and fired some and hoping that the cocking will get easier as you go cause it is a bear...that alone could make it unusable should it fall into a child's hands if your not practicing safe gun handling measures... This is what an air rifle should be. It is heavy, beautiful and deserves to be hung on a wall...BUT that isn't what you buy it for... The overall quality is excellent. Anyone serious about air gun shooting should at the least consider this rifle in all calibers. I do not think you would be disappointed.
Things I would have changed:Maybe be more detailed in the instruction manual. Some of the hardware may not be understood if you didn't already know what it is...like the scope stop.

Beautiful gun. Nice beefy stock and nice adjustable cheekpiece. Nice heavy weight for target shooting but not for hunting.
Things I would have changed:QUALITY CONTROL! ENTIRE GUN ALIGNMENT! SCOPE RAIL MOUNTED OFF CENTERLINE OF GUN. BARREL/BLOCK NOT CENTERED AT END OF COMPRESSION TUBE. Stock scratches way too easily. A plastic clip on my sling scratched the side of the stock.
What others should know:Gun would not shoot accurate even after hundreds of various types of pellets, especially when varying distance. Went to give the gun another chance and after taking the scope off, shot with open sights and could not believe how far I had to move the rear sight to the left to get it on point. I knew something must be wrong. I looked down the centerline of the gun from the back. From center of butt stock looking down centerline to front sight...I was shocked to see that the SCOPE RAIL was WAY OFF the centerline of the gun, in the direction of 1 o'clock. This means that the distance the gun is sighted in is the ONLY distance the gun will shoot accurately, because now you not only have a vertical crossing point, but you are introducing a horizontal axis crossing point as well. TWO AXIS ONLY CROSS AT ONE POINT. Everything MUST be on on a VERTICAL PLANE
This was not the only issue! I noticed the SLOT in the end of the COMPRESSION TUBE was also OFF CENTER!

I really wanted to like the gun. Decent finish, dead accurate (when things don't start going loose on you), amazingly powerful gas piston gun that should be awesome. Unfortunately just not executed to the caliber that I would hope for a $300 gas gun.
Things I would have changed:The main break barrel pin, used to fix the break in place and prevent wobble and ensure decent indexing at the break, kept loosening every 100 or so pellets. Even with decent thread locking, the vibrations throughout the gun were simply too much for the specified screw/fastener configuration. The screws were also made out of very mild steel, and appeared to show signs of wear right out of the box. There was too much tinkering that would have to be involved to make this gun something reliable (which in my opinion is the whole point of a gas gun, to just keep shooting). Decided to return it because I think having to tear apart and re-spec fasteners before shooting through a tin is a bit much to ask for.
What others should know:I really wanted to like the gun. When everything was tight and reliable, it was awesome, powerful, a real feat. Unfortunately the quality of engineering was just not there, and not something I wanted to spend my time tinkering with in order to get working. I wish Weirauch would revamp their HW97k to keep up with the power of this gun, that thing would be truly impressive.
