    Things I liked:

Sadly, there is not very much I liked about this gun to recommend it. I had been looking forward to a CO2 broom handle Mauser for years and when I saw that Umarex was releasing this I pre-ordered it immediately. I have the Umarex P38, P08 and the PPKs and have been completely satisfied with them all. They are all quality guns made out of metal to a high standard. While this gun does look like a Broom handle Mauser, actually it is modeled after the later M712 Schnellfeuer rather than the earlier C96 . All of the externals of this gun are molded out of a rather cheap looking black plastic. Some of the internals and the parts that make up the magazine are metal. Unlike the recent PO8 Luger, the molding of the details on this gun isn’t very crisp.

    Things I would have changed:

Just about everything. I was really excited and looking forward to this gun, expecting the same quality as the recent PO8 and the P38 releases. I was very disappointed when I opened the box and saw this gun. The biggest drawback with this gun was the total lack of accuracy. The inner metal BB barrel is unsupported in the larger outer plastic barrel. On my gun the inner barrel was off at an odd angle making it totally inaccurate at even 5 feet. They need to fix this. At one point when I was trying to use this gun I also noticed that the inner barrel was starting to work it’s way out of the gun. When I attempted to push it back in I discovered that the breech block is just a molded rubber block that the barrel is pressed into. The Bolt is also very cheaply made out of thin piece stamped and folded sheet metal.

    What others should know:

I only had this gun for one day and returned it. In my opinion this gun isn’t even worthy of being called a wall hanger. The gun I received was totally inaccurate. It was made out of a cheap looking plastic. Other reviewers have said that their gun was accurate. I suspect that it is totally luck of the draw if the gun that you receive has the barrel been pressed into the rubber breech block straight or not. Perhaps I was just unlucky and the barrel in my gun was pressed in crooked, maybe others will have better luck than me but I wouldn’t want to gamble another $100 dollars on it though.

    Things I liked:

It has a good heft like the real fire arm. The sights are good and it shoots 1 inch groups at 20 feet. This gun looks great on the wall display.

    Things I would have changed:

Make the grips out of wood and offer the shoulder stock holster for sale,

    Things I liked:

At a glance, it looks a lot like the Mauser broom-handle pistols you see in the movies. Actually, it looks more like the M712 Schnellfeuer, with its detachable magazine.

    Things I would have changed:

For $100 dollar replica pistol, there's an awful lot of plastic. The barrel shroud is plastic, so that includes the front sight. Overall, the impression I got upon taking it out of the box was that the quality is rather disappointing. Umarex really could have done better. I have to wonder if they rushed this to market to make it available in time for the 2013 Christmas shopping season.

    What others should know:

Sorry, but I think I'd recommend that others give this one a miss -- unless they've just gotta have a Mauser C96 replica in their collection -- then of course, you can probably find a spring airsoft model for less than $20.

    Things I liked:

The original Mauser was a weird gun, and this is a good approximation of it.Yup ... all plastic except the magazine/capsule assembly and a couple of internal parts. about AS CLUMSY A Pistol as possible.

    Things I would have changed:

I found the "recoil" very strong... from a rest I needed both hands and a death grip to hold it on target.Accuracy sucks ( Copperheads gave me 2 inch groups at best.) REMEMBER to 1) PUSH THE SLIDING BIT AT THE TOP OF THE MAGAZINE forward before loading, and make sure it is still forward when you insert the magazine ... or YOU WILL GET A JAM. 2) push THE SLIDE ALL THE WAY FORWARD AFTER YOU HAVE PULLED IT BACK TO LOAD AND COCK THE PISTOL. mine DID NOT CLOSE THE LAST 1/8 INCH AND THE GUN FAILED TO FIRE.

    What others should know:

This is an amusing addition to a collection, but don't buy it if you a looking for BB gun accuracy. I'm not even going to bother trying to shoot it free hand the recoil is so severe. (And this gun had the 10 for $10 treatment.Money wasted.)

    Things I liked:

Very good replica of the C96 Broomhandle Mauser in the twenty shot form. Easy to load robust magazine/co2 holder. As accurate as I am with no jams, and with a nice easy trigger pull.

    Things I would have changed:

I would like to see it in all metal like Legends very fine P.08. As it is it is mostly plastic.

    What others should know:

I loved the crisp blowback action which didn't use a lot of co2. Also the rear sight which is adjustable for distance was very welcome. A good value for the money.

    Things I liked:

This Pistol is awesome! My uncle had a true Broom Handle and I remember shooting it as a kid. This air gun is very close. I love the detail that has been put into it, yet the simplicity it has. A true "blowback" for under 100 bux is great in itself, but, put that with a pistol that is a piece of history and WOW. I am happy I bought it. It has some limits to its accuracy, but the absolute "coolness" of it just makes me want to practice more with it. I just got it today and it was 24 degrees outside so I did not do a lot of shooting with it. It did cycle three mags on one CO2 cylinder But hell at 24 degrees and firing like I was, that's not bad. with warmer temps I bet it will get 4 or 5 mags. If you Like history, particularly WW 1, you need to get this one!

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing, as it would change the very character of the Gun itself.

    What others should know:

When using it in cold weather, be aware that bb's will still load to the chamber but may not fire. you may have to run a rod down the barrel to clear the bb out before firing fresh.

    Things I liked:

Very close facsimile of the Mauser, but a lot of plastic, I’m disappointed, however did not shoot bad, acceptable accuracy and power, the blowback feature is excellent. After four magazines the CO2 tank had to be change, but temperature was about 60F.

    Things I would have changed:

It is over price; Umarex should do better on this Replica, looks very cheap.

    What others should know:

In my opinion is just good for collectors to display, but not for anything else.

    Things I liked:

The Umarex Legends C96 is a very good replica of a unique historical handgun. The overall construction and operation are very good. The weight and feel of the pistol when held and fired is good, neither too heavy or too light. Because the trigger is single action only, the gun fires smoothly and easily. The strength of the blowback seems a little weaker than that of some other blowback pistols. For a BB gun with a non-rifled barrel, the accuracy is very good. After adjusting the rear sight for accuracy, I was able to consistently put shots in the red center of the target. Bench rested shot groupings at 18 feet were 1 x 1 inch (Marksman, Swiss Arms), 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 (Avanti, Firepower), 1 3/4 x 1 (Umarex), and 1 1/2 x 2 inches (Copperhead). Standing shot groupings widen out to 2 to 3 inches with Marksman, Swiss Arms, and Firepower BBs producing the smallest groupings. Total shot count per CO2 cylinder was 128 when the blowback stopped functioning.

    Things I would have changed:

I would like to add a working slide lock so that the slide would lock back when the last BB is shot.

    What others should know:

The BBs I tested were Crosman Copperhead, Umarex, Firepower Gold, Swiss Arms, Marksman, and Avanti. All of these performed well without jamming. Because the trigger is single action only, the gun must be cocked first either by manually cocking the hammer or pulling back and releasing the slide. Be aware though that manually cocking the hammer alone before the first shot will result in a blank first shot. The slide must be pulled back and released to place the first BB in the barrel for the first shot. Also beware when you reach that first shot in which the blowback fails to cock the hammer. At that point there likely is a BB still in the barrel. Although this pistol is not all metal, the barrel and internal mechanisms are metal where it really matters. Do not let the plastic covers prevent you from buying this gun. This replica of the historical Mauser is an accurate pistol that is well worth the purchase price.

    Things I liked:

The pistol is remarkable, a great replica. The blowback feels very authentic. Sliding ramp style sights are useful for adjusting for range.

    Things I would have changed:

The notch and front blade on the sights are too small- can't get good sight picture.

    What others should know:

The look, the feel of this gun is wonderful. So far, it shoots well enough, for accuracy.

Nice weight. Good looks. I got it today, put it together, put a clip through it and am thoroughly impressed so far. Powerful.

    Things I would have changed:

Needs that holster/butt stock accessory. Still working on what I might change.

    What others should know:

If you are a "gunner" I don't NEED to let you know anything else. Have fun and be safe.

    Things I liked:

The advertizing copy says this pistol will compare with the real one. They are right! I have a 712 in the safe and this is pretty much a spittin-image of it. Of course, the Mauser is blued while this is matte finish...but still a very handsome piece in its own right. Of course, being such a great copy of the Broomhandle it shares the limitations too...such as very tiny sights and the grip is less than what we've come to know as 'ergonomic'. But this also doesn't kick as badly so it's fine to shoot...and surprisingly the blow-back simulates recoil pretty well! A good C-96 with fresh springs doesn't really kick much, so this is really fun to plink with. Accuracy is fine for plinking...I just put 20 shots at 30ft into about 1.5" without really concentrating so it's plenty good enough for cans and whatnot. Can't comment on power yet as the chronograph isn't set up, but the BB's bury themselves into the cardboard box backstop pretty well and get there quickly. From shooting lots of pellet pistols in the house, I'd say it's pretty close to the advertized 380 or thereabouts. All in all, a VERY cool pistol and I'm happy to have gotten it.

    Things I would have changed:

It copies an ancient and somewhat flawed pistol, so don't expect anything but what it is. The operating mechanism is cleverly all contained within the magazine. Neat! And any issues it might have down the road will be solved with a new one rather than needing major gunsmithing on the pistol proper. As long as the bolt that runs to feed the ammo and cock the hammer and the sear holds up..it'll live a long and very happy life.

    What others should know:

This pistol looks GREAT! Feels genuine and is a hoot to shoot. Even if you don't have a real C96 in the cabinet, if you ever wondered what they're like to shoot...here it is. A VERY nice replica.
