The Career 707 blew the doors off the PCP market when it was introduced in the US in the 1990s. Even after all these years, this airgun continues to be a favorite among hunters.

The variable power levels give you a huge range of energy for taking small- and medium-sized game at distances previously reserved only for firearms. The gun is manufactured by ShinSung, a Korean company that knows what hunters need and want, because Koreans have been using the Career far longer to hunt all types of game.

The Monte Carlo Indonesian walnut stock has a raised cheekpiece and checkering on the wrist (directly above the lever). The forearm also has checkering to ensure a firm grip when you're in the thick of things. The lever-action cocking mechanism works quickly, smoothly and effortlessly as you chamber each pellet from the multi-shot magazine.

The number of shots you can load in the mag depends on the length of the pellets, but most people load about 6 pellets (although you can fit 10 Crosman Premiers!). Longer ones take up more room, so you won't be able to load as many. The rifle cannot feed pointed pellets, so select either wadcutters or domed ammo.

The built-in manometer (air pressure gauge) shows you how much air remains in the built-in air reservoirs, located directly below the barrel. This air rifle was the first to offer adjustable velocities with its integral power wheel. Adjust the wheel to accommodate heavy or light pellets, long or short distances and the type of game you're shooting. The gun adjusts to YOUR needs instead of the other way around! You'll get up to 20 full-power shots before needing to refill.

The two-stage trigger can be adjusted to your shooting preferences. The front sight is a hunting-style ramp with a bead, and the rear sight is fully adjustable. The Career 707 is known for its accuracy, so you'll want to seriously consider mounting a quality scope on the 11mm rails.

Things I liked:

This rifle is powerful! Accurate! Reliable! Shoots a myriad of pellets well but I settled on the JSB 25 gr "redesigned" as my go-to for everything from Target practice to hunting situations...It also shoots the JSB UltaShocks with great accuracy and devastion to boot.....I have it set to low power and I get 21 "hunting" shots at around 59-55 fpe and then I can get about 15 more shots on target by turning it up.... This rifle is very capable of taking down medium sized game

Things I would have changed:

I guess the thing that I would change (the magazine/pellet chute) has been addressed in the Sumatra 2500. It's magazine allows for the use of pointed pellets...the pellet chute design on the Career won't allow for the use of pointy pellets, like polymags, metalmags, ...

What others should know:

This air rifle likes alot of different pellets but, it LOVES heavy ones...it is LDC ready to help quiet her down...Whenever you change pellets you have to adjust the pellet chute, which involves a partial disassembly of the receiver

Things I liked:

Just got one of these in .25 and it's fantastic. My initial thought was that air guns haven't progressed at all in the last 20 years. The Career 2 707 was / is powerful, accurate, well priced, a repeater, well balanced, not overly heavy with nice wood and metal. The under-leaver is smooth and allows for very fast follow up shots. It has variable power to allow it to be used for either hunting or plinking. The air reservoir is just right in terms of shot count and weight. It is adjustable for different lengths of pellets so it isn't in the least bit pellet fussy. The magazine holds seven 35g Eun Jin pellets - 1 more than the Sumatra. The black receiver art is less ghastly than the silver Sumatra one. The Koreans have my upmost respect. Everyone else is still trying to catch up decades later and we still don't have anything better for the price. It comes with iron sites which work really well for short to medium range.

Things I would have changed:

The gauge on the air cylinder is really odd. Instead of stating PSI or Bar, it goes, 5, 10, 15.... up to 30 and the numbers don't correspond to any specific psi. You are meant to measure 3000 psi on your pump gauge and make a note of what number the gun's gauge reaches and it is different on every gun. On mine, 3000 psi is 22.5. I will let this one go though because everything else is great. I even prefer the smaller reservoir (than the Sumatra) as it makes it lighter.

What others should know:

The career 2 707 is obviously very similar to the Sumatra. I prefer the 707 because it's more powerful, more adjustable, holds more pellets (if they are 35g or less), looks better in black and it's lighter to carry. The sumatra metal mags are nicer looking and less delicate imo. Both are great. It is worth getting one of these just for the under-lever. I really don't know why they don't make more air rifles like this. It is so much better than side lever in every way. You actually have a chance of getting in a follow up shot before the prey has run away. These also come in a carbine length and a 9mm version which is very hard to find these days. There are several versions of the career 2 707. I have the black RWS version but apparently, the older pre-RWS models were even better if you can find one. Bring them all back please! The world needs another under-lever 9mm repeater for around $500. They were obviously ahead of their time but not we are ready for them!

Things I liked:

This gun has proven incredablly accurate once warmed up. I have found myself able to mow down individual blades of grass at 25 yards using an RWS model 400 scope. I have found that it needs to be shot about 20 times before it settles down. I am very sorry to hear it has been discontinued. My friends who are used to only fire arms are always amazed at the loudness of the report and the accuracy at long distance. With lighter pellets, the supersonic " crack " is quite suprizing.

Things I would have changed:

No way you could make this baby lighter !

What others should know:

The slight progressive drop in air pressure can be compensated for by starting at lower settings on the power wheel and gradually dialing up over a series of about 50 shots.
